Has anyone one had dental implants? What was your experience and are you glad you had it done?

I’m facing this as a possibility and would love to hear a ‘consumer’s perspective’!

I don't have any (yet) but I pretty much need my whole mouth done and being 33yrs old, I'm thinking implants.
From pulling the tooth, to the actual implant, would I need to go months without teeth while the bone heals?
Would anyone recommend a country outside of the UK that is good to go to, price wise I mean.
Sorry to jump on your post but I'm at my wits end with my shitty teeth and looking forward to getting them done.
Also, it's good to read people have had positive experiences with implants and it fills me with a bit more confidence to have them done.

I was offered a temporary set of dentures whilst I was having implants and bone grafts. The work took over a year and although I declined them, they would give you the ability to function normally until the work was completed.
As I've previously mentioned in this thread, I had all my work done in London by Dentaprime.
I highly recommend them.

There is an interesting Reuters documentary on a British woman travelling to Turkey to get dental implants https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/uk-dental-system-decays-surging-numbers-seek-treatment-abroad-2023-12-11/

I’m in the process of getting two now on my front teeth. One thing I didn’t quite appreciate is you’ll have to wear a denture for maybe 6 months. It’s really not a quick process. The denture isn’t too bad but I cant bite into anything hard

I have 5x and best decision I ever made, after wasting thousands trying to save some old injured teeth I should have just done it straight away. They have never given me any trouble whatsoever and they're the only teeth that no longer cost a fortune at the dentist to maintain :)

Had an implant over 10 years ago. Took several weeks to complete with the post and then bone healing and then fixing new tooth.
No issues at all since having it done, it's just like a real tooth
Would recommend and would have another if I needed to.
Cost maybe £1500 if I remember correctly.

Had mine for 25 years now and no problems whatsoever, you can eat whatever you like and don't have to worry about it coming loose. think I paid around £1k at the time and it wasn't a common option but with it being a front tooth and having to put up with years of the crown coming out I decided to go for one, found the best dentist who did them in the county and never looked back.

Mine were done in another country. I think they are great - 20 years and going strong. It's so much better than getting a bridge or false tooth. Just make sure that your nerves are not too close to the surface. A friend had one done, and the titanium bolt touched the nerve, so she had to have it removed.

I lost a molar 20 years ago due to a random infection in my mandible and had an implant put in. They did a great job, but the screw installation was brutal. It’s held up super well, though, and I’m happy to have it. Just have to make sure I floss under it as it’s a bit of a flavor saver.

I have one. I am glad it was done, and also glad it was done well. it took about year to do. Do all sorts of x-rays, then had the titanium screw implanted and waited 8 months for the bone to heal. The dentist placed a temporary crown while the permanent tooth was made. It’s been 15 years and it’s still in place.

Mine similar. It was one of my front. Took over a year to get done. That was 23 years ago now and I've never had an issue with it.
Master_Block1302@reddit
Same question to all of you guys: how much and where?
grubbygromit@reddit
£1800 all in. With the fake tooth brace and all the other trips I needed. I can't remember the places name but it was in sale.
Master_Block1302@reddit
‘In Sale’ as in ‘part of Manchester’ ?
grubbygromit@reddit
Yeah.

Same for me, only mine was more recent. A lot of work went into that but my dentist did an outstanding job.
Kmoodle@reddit
I have one - so glad I got it and would get again should finances allow as it's not cheap. I have quite bad anxiety so was really panicky about the whole thing and I needn't have worried - pretty much painless :)
Affectionate-Cell-71@reddit
yes 1 implant with 2 crowns on it. Definitely the best thing I did.
Absolutely painless procedure at every step. Having it 2 year now. Happy.
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
Yes and getting more done. This one has lasted 15 years and no bone wear under it. It feels like a normal tooth and unlike dentures, it doesn't affect taste and needs less maintenance. The worst of the procedure is preparing the site for implant - that actual operation isn't that bad.

I have an implant. It was expensive and needed a bone graft but I'm very happy I got it done. It's going on 8 years old now. The process of installing it was unpleasant and weird.
PerceptionGreat2439@reddit
I had, 7 extractions, twin sinus lift, bone addition to upper and lower jaws, 6 implants and crown work to make things look nice for under £10k. The whole process took over a year.
Initial consultation is £99.

Every visit I made, the place was full. They've been doing implant work for over 30 years. They worked out that rather you flying out there, they'd set up here in London.
I'm very happy with the results.

Got an implant for a jaw tooth. It’s great. the only warning that legit doctors remove the tooth and implant the screw THEN WAIT, at least several months to put in the permanent implant tooth.
I saw places in the US that advertised doing it all in one day. That would be a dental disaster
HuJackmanGeneHackman@reddit
I have an implant to the left of my front tooth. I got it because I was born without that tooth. Before that I had a “flipper” and before that a fake tooth with a bridge (can’t remember the name).
I got the implant because it was the best option at the moment. The flipper was good but it covered the roof of my mouth, which was inconvenient at times. I was also afraid of losing it.
The bridge option wasn’t great because it kept falling out. The “glue” they used wasn’t great.
The implant was a lengthy and expensive process but it’s been six years since years and… it’s like a real tooth. No maintenance or anything, it definitely won’t fall out. But I’m also not getting into fights or doing any boxing like exercise.
The only drawback is that it doesn’t get yellow like the rest of your teeth over time. So even though I brush and floss, it’s a tad whiter than the rest of my teeth!
Maybe worth mentioning that I’m American and had this done in America (all out of pocket). I would guard that procedures are at least similar here.
