How bring up team change possibility?

Few months back I was talking to someone from DevOps/CloudOps about trying to make a change coming from software engineering.
But they have been hiring or trying to hire since without much luck, so now they reach out to me again to join their team. I've already collaborated with most of them and enjoyed working with all of them.
But then my team was dissolved, and I joined another one. I've been doing well on my current team, saving the company a huge amount of money by finding a discrepancy (7-8 digits).
I want to still see the end of this big project as it leaves a significant impact. What do I do? How to bring it up?

Rule 3: No General Career Advice
This sub is for discussing issues specific to experienced developers.
Any career advice thread must contain questions and/or discussions that notably benefit from the participation of experienced developers. Career advice threads may be removed at the moderators discretion based on response to the thread."
General rule of thumb: If the advice you are giving (or seeking) could apply to a “Senior Chemical Engineer”, it’s not appropriate for this sub.

Talk to the potential new manager to determine if they would be okay waiting. Talk to your current manager to set a timeline for your transfer. If your current manager pushes back, you know you made a good choice to leave.

It's not that easy if no internal transfers are possible. A developer doesn't simply leave their team if they're allocated on a tonne of work.
The discussions should be had with the manager to figure out the feasibility, if the manager agrees then they'll talk to the other one and it should happen.
It's a political issue more than anything else.

It sounds like a transfer is possible. Most sane companies would prefer to have members transfer than leave the company altogether.
Different companies have different processes. I changed teams during my time at Stripe. This was actively encouraged at one point. There were no issues with me conducting my search, and interviewing the manager, product manger, and staff engineers on my eventual team to help me make my decision.
