Serpentine belt replacement cost?

Have a mechanic asking me for over $1000 to replace a serpentine belt. 2012 Buick Lacrosse. Am I missing something or is this a gross over pay? Details below:
Remove and replace in-line 4 serpentine belt tensioner: $359
Belt tensioner: $611
Multi-v reinforced belt serpentine belt: $85
Any help is much appreciated!

Ya. Those tensioners are crazy expensive. Personally, i wouldn't risk aftermarket . OEM is pricey but with it

Just curious, why did you get a quote for that? Is it something you took the vehicle in for or something the mechanic said was needed? Go somewhere else for a second quote IMO

Verify the belt tension for yourself, you don't always need to replace that at the same time the belt is changed.

The price on the tensioner is Waaaaaaay off. The GM list price is around $140 at the dealer. The rest of the charges are normal. The flat rate guide shows this as a 1.9 hour project, so the labor and belt charges are in line.

i4 or v6 engine? The i4 does have a pretty pricey tensioner, according to Rockauto. The v6 tensioner is a cheap.
Don't expect the mechanic to be charging you Rockauto prices for the parts though. He's buying through guaranteed suppliers who will pay replacement costs if the part fails under warranty. That's why his parts will invariably cost more than what you see on Rockauto.

2012 belt tentioner 600-bucks xD ahahhaah
The 300-something for the job is reasonable though, even if it takes less than an hour to do. There is a possibility they are changing all the idler pulleys at the same time as the tensioner and they just too lazy to say that's why its 600. Should be more like.. 200.
