Why would a libertarian hate Ronald Regan. Traditional US patriots view him in a positive light

But I thought he started big government spending which ballooned the US debt

Almost his entire policy's were anti libertarian except for trickle down economics but I'd argue even then it wasn't very libertarian as it only targeted the rich im more in favor of creating a better opportunity for new small business plus he raised the drinking age

He was POTUS during an economic boom, and during the fall of the Soviet Union. Kind of like how FDR was President when WWII ended the Depression, and for most of WWII.
They get a pass because of the time they were in office, not necessarily because of the good they did. And the bad they did is swept under the rug.

I agree but worth noting context on the military spending -- stepping up that game did help break accelerate the failure of the USSR's economy as they tried to compete. The USSR collapsing was a massive win for freedom for a lot of people.

That's debatable. I've seen counter-claims that it was a crash in oil prices which did their economy in. They were also involved in Afghanistan (their Vietnam) in the 1980s.

I don't care. It's not my job to bankroll your country freeing itself from communism. You got yourself into the mess, get yourself out.

To add to the list: The War on Drugs, expanded Asset Forfeiture, supported the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. To me he is one of the least Libertarian presidents we've ever had.
