A decent GPU for AMD Ryzen 5 7600
Posted by DerBerta@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 44 comments
Hello. So, my current system is getting a little old and slow. Right now, I have a Ryzen 5 1600 with MSI B350 PC MATE and I think it's time to move on to AM5. My choice would be a R5 7600 (7500f officially not available in my country, but there are a few options to buy it but with no cooler and as tray), but i read that this CPU might be a Bottleneck with an RTX 4060. So my question is, what GPU might be a better option, maybe the AMD RX 7600(XT)? Or maybe something from the rx6000/rtx3000 series? Thx for your help and answers

Why not upgrade to a better AM4 cpu? You can get the top tier 5700X3D, or a used 5600...
DerBerta@reddit (OP)
Thats because I want an upgrade possibility for the future to not buy a completely new system in 5 Years or so. But in general, you are right, it would have been an option👍🏻
Ntinaras007@reddit
But... You will do the same thing then.
When the time for upgrade comes, you will get an AM6 motherboard, and you will again discard the greatest benefit of amd platform.
upgreadability!

Not really a good value, The 7600x is the same price as a 5700x3d and is just as good if not better than the 5800x3d.
All he will have done is waste 150 on the 5700x3d
If he buys in now since he is spending the money, the only opportunity cost to him is the motherboard and ram which depending on location are being offered at great deals right now in combo packs.
If this was two years ago, I'd say go for the 5700x3d but we are two gens into am5 now, so there isn't really any reason not to upgrade.
If you have the money to spend, get the best platform available if not, then just get the best of your current socket.
Ntinaras007@reddit
The 7600X might be the same price as the 5700X3D, but he will avoid the cost of upgrade for ram and motherboard. And he will use that money on a better gpu.
RDOG907@reddit
I didn't see initially that he had a 1050ti it seemed to be implied that he had a 4060.
Makes more sense to go for the same socket upgrade
Luccas_Freakling@reddit
Unless you're the type to buy new parts each 2 years or so, that makes very little sense.
If you bought a ryzen 1700 and a x370 in 2017, 2022 would have been a great time to upgrade to a 5700x, for example, but, you would, once again, be tempted to buy a new motherboard and a 7700x, lured by the option to upgrade in the future, while spending a bit more...
Buy a pc thinking of it being repairable and durable. Upgradeable... Is something seldom relevant.
African_Farmer@reddit
Doesn't the 7600 basically perform at the same level as the 5700X3D in gaming? https://youtu.be/CEfVr7nJ_HE?si=MifMNPfuYVbWE3U3
Depends on if you have budget to upgrade motherboard to AM5 or not.
gamer99991@reddit
Get 5700x3d from ali express for 140$ i paired with 4070 super its never cpu bottlenecking me
vernSdL@reddit
It seems a good deal from ali express? thanks
Unfair_Seat9442@reddit
shit i'm running a 7900gre with my 7600
TheQueas123@reddit
I'm also doing this and at least in the little bit of testing I did with dragon age vielguard, I was GPU bound still 😅
Unfair_Seat9442@reddit
nvm just saw your budget
GoldkingHD@reddit
7600 and 7500f are basically the same thing, the 7500f just lacks an igpu. Both of them are more than capable of running a 4060.
I would recommend looking for a 6700xt, 6800 or 6800xt. Maybe you can find a good deal on a used card.
Both the 4060 and 7600xt are pretty bad value for the most part.

DerBerta@reddit (OP)
Okay, thank you. So the right choice would be an AMD Card (no interest in raytracing gaming right now)?
GoldkingHD@reddit
Yeah definitely, nvidia doesn't really offer anything with good value in the budget segment. If you don't need anything nvidia specific amd is definitely the better option.

My motto is: Less Money for the most power possible ^^
Braxion-XIII@reddit
Same my dude, but these days nvidia's DLSS is way better than fsr, for a couple of months it looked like fsr was close but watching digital foundry opened my eyes, i cant unsee the FSR noise anymore( ive used both), if buying used the nvidia option is just a couple of bucks more go for it
Xlxlredditor@reddit
You can run Intel XeSS in the games that support it, and it is very good
Hitzk0pf_PoE@reddit
The 5700X3D and the best GPU you can afford is what you need. I prefer to buy my graphics cards used, for example a 6800XT you can get really cheap here (350€).
Bit make sure your Motherboard supports the Ryzen 5700x3D and flash the newest BIOS first.
Also, I didn't see you mention your current GPU and PSU. Maybe you will need to spend part of your budget for a new PSU.
DerBerta@reddit (OP)
I have a corsair 750W PSU and currently a gtx 1050ti😅
Hitzk0pf_PoE@reddit
750W should be fine for 3080 or 6800XT
HonchosRevenge@reddit
I built my gf a new pc with a 7600, Paired it with a rx6750xt that was about $280 USD. Considering it runs everything she plays at 120+fps on high/ultra 1440p, I'd say it's pretty damn solid
nvidiot@reddit
Did you use a bottleneck calculator? Don't, because 7600 is more than sufficient for mid-range GPUs.
Judging from your GPU choices, your best option might be an RX 6750 XT for your budget.
DerBerta@reddit (OP)
Okay, thanks for your Answer. I would personally like to have a gpu under 300€, this one nearly costs 350€ so it would be out of my budget when the rx 7600 costs roundabout 260-280€ with more or less the power of an rtx 4060 for 290€
StrongTxWoman@reddit
An used 4070? Intel claims their next GPU will be affordable and powerful. Perhaps wait and see?
nvidiot@reddit
Well, for that extra 50 euros, you're actually gonna get a substantial performance uplift from both 4060 and 7600. I'd say it's worth spending 50 euros more for it.
The RX 6750 XT performs roughly on par with RTX 4060 Ti, and between RX 7600 XT and 7700 XT.
DerBerta@reddit (OP)
Alright then, thank you very much. So the both the 6700 xt and 6750 xt are performing better than a 4060? I have no interest in raytracing gaming right now, maybe in the future and my Monitor can "only" handle 1080p 144Hz. But so, the 6750 xt seems like a good card with more power than 4060 and is more capable of performing (no raytracing included)?
nvidiot@reddit
Yes, both 6700 XT and 6750 XT will perform good deal better than a 4060. Both cards are on 4060 Ti level.
teror_ili_mir@reddit
I got R5 7600X and RX 7800 XT Sapphire Nitro+. Playing at 1440p and 144hz. I play a lot of games at 144 fps, rarely any dips below 140fps.
Most modern game that I played is that Delta Force. At High/Ultra settings I got 144 fps.
So if you can and want, think about buying the R5 7600X and mid-range GPU
stug45@reddit
I have a 7700xt which seems to be a great pairing
Downcast_harmony16@reddit
Bro I use a rtx 4070 super with a ryzen 5 7600 and there are no bottlenecks , don't use bottleneck calculators those are terrible and always wrong
Radiant-Fly9738@reddit
That cpu won't bottleneck even rtx 4080. Don't know where you read it and don't know how come gamers believe that only 7800x3d/9800x3d are worth it.
sinreservaciones@reddit
I have the ryzen 5 7600 and 4070 super and it works great for 1440p 165hz
African_Farmer@reddit
What resolution and refresh rate is your monitor? That's what matters, I'm using a 7600 with a 4080 Super. Now this is considered a bottleneck by most websites and YouTube influencers, but I'm playing at 1440p and max 165hz, it's more than capable of keeping up with my high-end GPU.
Type of games you play matter too, I mostly play single-player games so high FPS is not really my goal, I want to crank all graphics to ultra.
DerBerta@reddit (OP)
Okay, thank you for your tips. So the best decision i could make is keeping my AM4 Platform, keeping my B350 Motherboard with ddr4 and pcie 3.0 and buy a ryzen 5 5700x3d and an rx6750xt so that would be maximum power for minimum prize? Wouldn't be there a power cap from the pcie 3.0 slot on this gpu? Or is it insignificantly small that it would be nearly no difference?
Acrobatic-Writer-816@reddit
Get 7900gre
CtrlAltDesolate@reddit
Based on what I'm assuming your budget is, given the parts mentioned, you'd be much better going for a 5600x or 5700x3d and dumping all leftover budget into the GPU - assuming this is for gaming.
A 5700x3d and 7900gre should be doable, based on the cost of ddr5 ram, mobo and 4060 - and will last you many many years, while giving you extremely strong 1440p performance.
icepickmassacre@reddit
5700x3D
AM5 is a waste in your scenario
jjohn9590@reddit
Rx 7600 regular or XT version would work fine, but for a bit of future proofing and jump to better 1440p gaming, a 7700xt or even 7800XT would be better
Andyrewdrew@reddit
I wouldn’t worry. I’m currently building my new pc with i5 12400f and rtx 4070 super, playing at 1440p.
HaIoSmith@reddit
7600 is way better than 4060
bravo009@reddit
If you're playing at 1440p, the 7600X can be paired with a 4090 and it will still give excellent performance. The 4060 is a great GPU to pair it with. No worries at all.
Withinmyrange@reddit
Honestly, dont uprade to AM5. Its a great platform but AM4 is also a great platform. upgrading your cpu to a 5700x3d and getting like a 6800xt is your best bet. 5700x3d is a price perfromance monster and is still competitive with modern cpu's while being alot cheaper. Then for the 6000 series, 6800XT was the best price per doller gpu if I recall
