Upgrading CPU for RTX 3070, 1440p

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 3600) to pair it with a 3070 GPU.
I have noticed that Ryzen 5 5600(x) is the most used combo, but not sure if it would be better to jump to a Ryzen 7, since Im doing an upgrade.
PC mostly used for gaming (FPS) and 1440p.
Thanks in advance

If you can spare the extra budget, 5700X3D is the ultimate gaming chip for your AM4 platform right now. You can probably keep using your AM4 platform for few more years with that chip. So unless you have to save $, recommend 5700X3D instead of 5600. Don't forget to do BIOS update.
As a sidenote, with 1440p resolution, RTX 3070's 8 GB RAM may be a limiting factor with some games.
