Are we posting towing our projects? A RAV4 that I hate towing an obscure motorised wheelchair that's destined to be a chassis donor for something completely different.

Some planned specs: 20kW BLDC motor, 4 speed manual transmission, 38x1.5mm seamless pipe rollcage. Full light show and sound effects upon reaching 88kph (the actual top speed of the donor car; 44kph in demo mode and on actual press of a button for parked demo mode), smoke machine for after the light show finishes. It's more of an art project than something I plan on driving with any sort of regularity.

What’s the doner “car”?
Mark_Proton@reddit (OP)
An SMZ S3D. This one in particular has hand controls only. Single cylinder 346cc 13hp engine with a top speed of 90kph on paper.

90kph?!! Looks like a lot of fun! Keep us posted!

I am switching the motor to a 20kW electric unit and giving it a Zaz 968 4 speed transmission.
ShidOnABrick@reddit
Hayabusa engine it
Mark_Proton@reddit (OP)
Then it might actually reach 88mph and I don't think I have the balls for that haha
That being said, it has already been done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RemBxLnngOI

I know, its my level of absurdity, i suppose could go for a more humble torquey build and put a gold wing engine in it which would be a lot more economical
Mark_Proton@reddit (OP)
I plan on renting it out to theme parks or something, so actually it's always been planned to be electric.

looks like she'll do 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene
Rev-Counter@reddit
I would absolutely love an SMZ so it does make me a bit sad seeing one destined for the chop. They’re a lot easier for you to get I suppose.
Mark_Proton@reddit (OP)
They go for about 200 bucks. If you wish, I could find one for you and hold onto it until the war is over and over the border logistics become a bit easier.
Rev-Counter@reddit
Damn, that’s really kind of you but I don’t think I’m in a position to plan anything at the moment. One day I’ll get my hands on one but for the time being I’ve got enough Eastern Bloc project vehicles here in the UK to keep me busy for a long time!
Mark_Proton@reddit (OP)
I'll be happy to help on this end whenever you're ready, just ping me.
Rev-Counter@reddit
That’s an awesome offer, cheers! Have you got an Instagram or is here best?

my mother in law has a rav4 and loves it. every time i drive it im sickened at how bland and boring it is. it is an appliance.
oh my man, make a youtube channel of that process
i have a smart car and a toyota 86. much better.
also bro that car is fucking rad and i cant wait to see the end result! the motorized wheelchair thing is pretty rad on its own though. it'd be fun with one of those 2 cylinder predator engines everyne sticks in everything on youtube.

It is a shame, isn't it? The first one was fun as hell, the second one came with a V6 and then it all went downhill from there. It doesn't handle, it doesn't lightly off-road, it isn't even comfortable. The only thing I like it is the perceived reliability (which is far down on my list of important things in a car) and the climate control.
I do plan on documenting this process on YouTube, but my workspace is not photogenic in the least right now. I am moving to a new workshop next spring that I have already rented, so hopefully I can accommodate lighting there.

This is sick! Your design reminds me of the scrunched up cars from the PS2 game Road Trip Adventure
Mark_Proton@reddit (OP)
Damn, I love that style. I was inspired by the work of Nicholas Bannister and Ritter Goods. Both do the sort of cartoonish take on classics.
GarpRules@reddit
Great Scott!
EC_CO@reddit
That looks like a pretty sick little project. Can't wait to see your progress
YousureWannaknow@reddit
You sick bastard! You make dream come true for many folks!
Mark_Proton@reddit (OP)
I've always wanted one as a kid. This one will be 1:2 scale to the real one and take some design cues from the animated version.
YousureWannaknow@reddit
Haven't we all dreamed about one like that?😅 Can't wait to see end of work
