TsundereLoliDragon@reddit
That's been me exactly for a few years although NHL is starting to creep up again.
deebville86ed@reddit
I love soccer. But damn it's just so hard to take the MLS seriously. Especially now, they're running playoff games like it's a baseball series. Best of 3, no aggregate score, Championship games played with a homefield advantage, salary caps, designated players, teams playing in baseball stadiums. That's not how it's supposed to be done. It's like watching an MLB structure get played out with worse content. On top of that, I can't even watch my own local market team on TV unless I get an Apple TV subscription and MLS Season Pass. They're dead last on my list after NHL, and I don't even like hockey.
TsundereLoliDragon@reddit
The Flyers have sucked and the Union have been good in recent years but that trend is about to start reversing. The Union keep selling all their good young players and then refuse to spend the money for replacements. They also just fired their long time head coach. People are not happy with the ownership at all.
Finaqua@reddit
I agree! The ownership is so cheap, it's so frustrating. And while the flyers can be frustrating also it really seems like they're doing the right things with rebuilding. They have 3 #1 picks next year they really need to land those.
Btw im also from the philly area! I actually have season tickets to the union and partial season tickets to the flyers and to the phillies.
deebville86ed@reddit
Both teams from New York are in the quarter finals and I still don't care. MLS is weak
Derplord4000@reddit
Do you only watch soccer? Because if you don't, I see no problem with the MLS adopting elements from other U.S. sports leagues like best of 3 playoff series and especially salary caps.
deebville86ed@reddit
What does the amount of soccer I watch have to do with anything? NFL fans would be livid if their teams had to play 3 games per playoff round. Literally no league has one-off championship finals with home field advantages.
The MLS is taking a sport that has followed the same structure worldwide for over a century now, and turning it into shit tbh. How much soccer I or anyone else watches has nothing to do with it, but yes it's especially painful to watch if you are an avid follower of soccer. This is why it will always be the retirement/players who never made US nationals league. I can hardly be taken seriously

NCAA football because I got into it in college and never really stopped. And you get a lot more crazy stuff happening in college ball than in the NFL.

College sports are the worst ,up until recently, these guys were risking their lives for no pay meanwhile the coaches are getting multi-million dollar deals.

Texas Special Teams Coach Jeff Banks’ monkey allegedly attacked and seriously hurt a young trick-or-treater last night
Update: There is more. Banks apparently left his wife and kids to be with a stripper named Pole Assassin and the monkey is hers and a part of her act.
Update 2: Pole Assassin confirms that a child was bitten. Denies it was serious, but does confirm that the monkey did bite a child
Update 3: Pole Assassin says the monkey is an emotional support monkey
Update 4: According to TexAgs, Pole Assassin tweets at croots. There is screenshots for proof too, so it’s not a baseless claim.
Update 5: More tweets, this time with a video explaining what happened with a walkthrough of the yard. Waiting to see if we hear anything from Banks or not.
Update 6: The video/tweet in update 5 has been deleted
Update 7: Her entire twitter account has been deleted
Update 8: It appears the monkeys name is Gia and has an instagram account
Update 9: Earlier, when she was still tweeting, Pole Assassin evidently confirmed the monkey was vaccinated and up to date on it’s shots, which is a positive for the child.

Shocked by how few people are saying the NBA! easily the most fun to watch, fast paced, rules are easy to understand, can usually find a game to watch any day during the season.
bringbackwishbone@reddit
Regular season games have zero stakes imo, and thus zero drama game to game. I will say that I tuned into the playoffs last year when the Pacers were in it and that was hella fun.

Also I have nothing against Brewers fans. Just wanted to do some gentle ribbing haha

ENovi@reddit
Based on your flair can I assume you’re a Brewers fan? If so, can you guess my team? Hint: I’m also a gluten for punishment, I’ve lived in LA and Orange County my entire life, I loathe the Dodgers, and I’ll probably have to order some experimental blood pressure medicine off of some shady website when 80% of my team is on the IL three weeks into the season.

Baseball, and not just because my Dodgers just won the World Series. I’ve always loved baseball more than any other sport.
Zetin24-55@reddit
I love Baseball, it's such a chill hang out sport. At home or in the stadium, the atmosphere is great. It's almost like you're hanging out in a park with a bunch of random people and a Baseball game happens to be going on. It's so much cheaper than the other sports.
Also at least when it's not in the post season, I feel like you get a lot of comradery with fans of the other team that doesn't happen as much in other sports. Like I was at the 13 inning Dbacks v Cubs game from last year. At some point the stadium just started cheering when cool shit happened, no matter what team did it.
softkittylover@reddit
I actually love having a long season. I know that for a good portion of the year I can watch a game before or after work and relax. Now that the season is over I find myself bored trying to fill that time, can’t imagine what it’d be like being a football fan and having so much off time
newworldman86@reddit
Another perk of the long season that I love is what it does for prices. Tickets are so much cheaper than the other sports so you can catch a game without breaking the bank. Growing up, even though we didn’t have much disposable income, my family could still go to several Braves games a year while basketball or football was only available once every few years, and only if a relative scored seats from their office.
softkittylover@reddit
Oh absolutely. In Cleveland I’d pay $15 for some nice seats and they’d occasionally have $2 beer and hot dog nights. Went to one Browns game and nosebleeds + concessions were $300+

Baseball is the sound of summer. I can have a game playing on the radio in the background every evening, or most afternoons. It’s a game made for radio - I don’t have to pay attention to every play, or even every game. I can listen to Bob Uecker talk about wild stories from his past, then when a big play happens he’ll let me know.
The sport flows with the seasons. The optimism and excitement of spring opening day. The long hard slog through summer, with ups and downs the whole way (and a nice little all star break). The build up to the big fall finish, and inevitable let down as your team loses.
Music_For_The_Fire@reddit
Absolutely this. Skipping work on a Friday afternoon to have some beers and hot dogs with friends in the bleachers at Wrigley Field is my happy place.
But otherwise, baseball is the best background noise. Until your team makes it to the playoffs then it becomes the most stressful thing ever lol.
Mata187@reddit
Love the Dodgers…hate the stadium
Hypertension123456@reddit
NBA. Its just the fastest and most athletic game.
Football and hockey need too much equipment. You cant just grab three people to play those, you need to like plan and stuff.
Soccer and baseball are painfully slow. Watch 3 minutes of NBA play and every player is involved. Watch 3 minutes of soccer or baseball and you could replace 5 players with straw dolls and change nothing.
Ready-Pumpkin-8089@reddit
What would equipment have to do with watching it? I understand wanting a fast paced sport but what they wear has nothing to do with why you watch it (I’d assume at least😂)
Hypertension123456@reddit
Part of watching is that it inspires you to play. NBA you can grab a ball and try to recreate your players moves. Football and Hockey its much harder.
Ready-Pumpkin-8089@reddit
I can get wanting to play after watching a sport but when I watch football now no it doesn’t make me want to play nor does basketball that’s a weird take I watch football because it’s fun to watch I knew friends who hated watching football or basketball but loved the sport I also had friends who loved football and basketball but never wanted to play it
gratusin@reddit
If you never played hockey, then watching it probably wouldn’t inspire you, just like I wouldn’t be inspired to grab a cricket bat if I happened to catch an India Pakistan match. Growing up, I didn’t even like the Red Wings but I would watch them just because of Datsyuk, his stick handling would get adolescent me pumped up and I’d go outside with my stick and skates and try to recreate his moves then get yelled at for hitting the house. If you want the epitome of talking shit without saying a word, go to YouTube and look up Datsyuk dangles. It’s cruel what he could do.
Positive-Avocado-881@reddit
I promise you I don’t watch because it inspires me to play 😂 that being said, you haven’t seen some elementary schoolers play two hand touch football at recess?

NHL - Hockey is my first love. Fast, skillful, hard hitting. It's got everything. More people should give it a chance.
NFL - It's the biggest sport in the USA by far.
F1 - I mean they race in the USA more than any other country so I'm claiming it. Suck it Europe.
I grew up in Buffalo and we don't have professional Baseball or basketball so I never got into those. But I can get into any sport if A. I have a bet on it or B. it's the playoffs and a tense game.
I allow myself to be a fair weather NCAA Football fan when FSU is good (Which is not this season).

Baseball’s issue is too many games(regular season has been heavily devalued compared to what it was in the past)
TheLizardKing89@reddit
The season has always been long. Anyone who remembers a schedule shorter than 162 games is in their 70s at least and anyone who’s alive can’t remember a schedule shorter than 154 games.
Predictor92@reddit
But it used to be only first place only in each league made it to the World Series, then first team in their division( and their was only two divisions per league) made it to the conference championship. This made for a far more intense regular season then we have now
TheLizardKing89@reddit
This stopped being the case in 1969.
This stopped being the case in 1994.
Arguably yes, but there were also a lot less teams back then. Having a playoff format that only allows 4 out of 30 teams to play is a little silly.
GhostOfJamesStrang@reddit
You must mean the NBA.
The only reason you could argue the regular season is devalued in baseball, or any sport really, is that playoffs keep expanding.
Istobri@reddit
Agreed. Playoff expansion in MLB is what would devalue the regular season, if anything.
The MLB regular season probably mattered most before 1961, when each league played a 154-game schedule and there were only two playoff spots — the two pennant winners (I.e., the two teams that finished in first place in each league, who went straight to the World Series). Fewer games + only the first-place goes to the postseason = a regular season with teeth. Mind you, each league only had eight teams, so there was less competition, but still.

NFL
Football is the most strategic sport, a true chess match. The coaches have a variety of players with drastically different skill sets to be utilized. The amount of thought and planning to go into each game far surpasses any other sport.
The league has total parity due to the college draft and salary cap. A team that stays good for a long time does so because they draft well, sign smart contracts, and have good coaches, NOT because of money.
The games are once a week, so every game is important. This allows teams to dedicate a lot of time to prepare for opponents strategically. It also makes the sport easier to follow.
It's an amazing sport on every level, but it's complexities keep it from being popular globally.
rawbface@reddit
MLB and I can't be bothered to follow anything else. No sport except pro baseball is interesting enough to me.
But I feel like I have to make the required sounds whenever someone mentions NFL football, or else face social ostracization.

NWSL - got into it a year or two ago, and god do I love it. It’s also exciting how fast the league is growing and how each year a bottom ranked team can rise up to win it all. The fan base is so much fun.
College football - grew up with it and I love the traditions/rivalries. I feel like crazier stuff happens in college than the pros. Like, you could have the lowest ranked NFL team beat the highest ranked team and it would be nothing like Vandy beating Bama
I also like watching the WNBA, but the amount of games makes it hard to keep up with the season. I’ll watch pretty much and sport in its playoff/championship though.

NHL hands down but with MLB as a close second. I grew up watching two sports baseball and hockey between my stepfather and father respectively. I grew up in WA (and live here now) so the Mariners are my team but during high school my mom and stepfather moved us to Utah and back then the internet was a baby and the only real way to keep track of an out of town team if you didn’t have cable was standings in the paper. My stepfather lost all interest in sports and I had no way to watch my Mariners so they took a back burner. My father on the other hand was a lifelong Habs fan so when I would spend summers with him in VT he always showed me old games on the NHL channel and would talk my ear off about hockey. When Seattle finally announced they were trying for a hockey team he and I were both ECSTATIC. He planned on actually moving out and being closer to us and we were planning watching games together and everything. Unfortunately he passed away November of 2019. So now every time I watch a game (usually with my youngest daughter) I do a little toast to him and we carry on the tradition.

PGA. NFL. MLB. Oddly enough those were my #1s growing up in reverse order.
