The US embassy in Kyiv has temporarily closed after receiving "specific information of a potential significant air attack on 20 November". "Out of an abundance of caution, the embassy will be closed, and embassy employees are being instructed to shelter in place," it said in a statement., external The embassy also recommended that US citizens should prepare to shelter in the event an air alert is announced.

So at surface value I'm reading this as a very heavy air raid.
However considering things seem to be escalating, is this normal for the embassy to issue an alert for air raids considering it's been three years?

It’s not been done before in this war.

Theres a massive amount of speculation here from both ends of the spectrum.
Some Ukrainian sources saying its a Russian PSY OP and nothings going to happen.
Other Ukrainian sources going full conspiracy and worst case and convinced that Russia is going to swap the warhead out on a ICBM with counterweights/concrete from a ICBM and launch that.

They will just make it conventional.

At this point the only thing we can hope will stop a nuclear war (near term or long) will be UFO intervention.
I tend to believe what IT is, has prevented nuclear war in the past. Given the hockey stick graph of everything these days, I am starting to doubt they will help us this time.

Why would Putin drop a nuke now when in 2 months he can essentially wrap up the win?
Mrkvitko@reddit
I can see Trump continuing to support Ukraine if Russia declines Trump's "peace deal". Not to mention even if Trump stops all weapon deliveries, it will take months or even years for Ukraine to fall.
--Muther--@reddit
Trump will take any deal and call it a win. This is the guy that made the agreement with the Taliban
CamedMyPants69420@reddit
Tbh I cannot stand trump. He’s a major threat to our country rn. But I feel like the military industrial complex can grease his pockets quite a bit more than Putin. I mean he’s incredibly rich too, but our country is ran by people wayyy more powerful and wealthy than trump or Putin. Trump loves money and power, he can get those things all right here in America.
Side note: I’m also an idiot and could be completely wrong so take that for what you will lmao. Just trying to have some hope for Ukraine I guess:(

Russia has in its arsenal the FOAB thermobarric bomb, the largest nonnuclear weapon available.
Wouldn't surprise me if one of these came out to play as a "we are not joking around"
Ecstatic_Bee6067@reddit
That massive piece of ordinance has to be dropped by a heavy bomber. No way those are getting anywhere close to Ukrainian airspace.
CptDrips@reddit
What about a trebuchet?
BringbackDreamBars@reddit
Agree with you that if something happens today, the attack is going to be as much for the psychological "punishment" factor for Ukraine and the wider western alliance as it is about hitting targets.
BringbackDreamBars@reddit
Mixed reports im reading online,
Ukraine is saying its some kind of Russia PSY OP and that there's no missiles imminent, but I also think the US intelligence machine wouldn't just shut down on the word of Ukraine either.
Multiple embassies shutting suggests targeted intelligence.
Lot of speculation about a 14:30 Kyiv time launch window which has just passed, but again, surely Russia would go for a night attack.
