Anybody else just going to accept the grays?

I had white hair as a child. I've decided not to change a thing getting old. Going to let it all turn white/blue/gray.
BigIron53s@reddit
Yeah me… at least the wife likes it on me…
adams361@reddit
No way!
MzOpinion8d@reddit
Never.
genxpixie@reddit
Ugh no 😣
aspertame_blood@reddit
Yes- lots of us do. It’s totally okay.
No_Marketing_9168@reddit
Yes, they're a distinction many don't live to see.....enjoy. Another day above ground 🙏
keyser_durden@reddit
I’d happily accept hair of any color!
lanzkron@reddit
Mrs. Slocombe, is that you?
NeverEndingCoralMaze@reddit
No, she was up all night tending to her pussy, it was out all night in the rain and now it’s dripping wet.
Gyspygrrl@reddit
Oh, Mr Humphreys!
No-Meringue2388@reddit
Are you free?
glueintheworld@reddit
This interaction has made me so happy today. Thanks.
CitizenChatt@reddit
I'm in the USA and I loved watching reruns of that show on PBS. It was so funny!!!
muhredditone@reddit
Yeah, I was fine with the greys. It's the balding I don't like. I finally gave up on it and started shaving. I'm not really into it but I'll take bald over balding any day.
yerederetaliria@reddit
My husband had such beautiful thick wavy blonde hair. It looked like gold. I am rather hyperbolic and obsessive with him so I was comparing him to the god Apollo. We've been married 25 years and the last 5 years he has been slowly losing his hair. Before that the bright blonde slowly changed to light brown. I encouraged him to grow a beard and it came in salt and peppery and I have to admit it's very sexy. He is not interested in any artificial coloring and I find the salt and pepper on the sides sexy as well. The base color is still getting darker as time goes on. I don't understand why this happens
My hair went from shiny jet black with auburn highlights to a dull charcoal gray/black. I color it to get the shine back but I'm not hiding the fact that I do and I'm taking longer in between sets. He colors it for me. It's an intimate act like when he paints my toe nails or I clip his toe nails or pluck ear hairs. Old married people grooming. I will eventually quit coloring all together but not yet. He doesn't mind either way. We've gone beyond looks now. Most of our physical attention is working out and healthy diet rather than cosmetic.
Zeca_77@reddit
You married Thor?
absultedpr@reddit
I can’t tell if you’re in the most or least healthy relationship ever. Sounds nice though
yerederetaliria@reddit
Yes. Yes to all three, depending on your point of view.
B_Williams_4010@reddit
I might even accept plaid if it would just COME BACK.
InsensitiveCunt30@reddit
😂😂
AgonThalia@reddit
Samesies. It’s been “aerodynamic” for 15 years now.
RupeThereItIs@reddit
I treasure every hair I have left.
On my head at least.
The ones coming off my eyebrows & ears like 6 inches can just go to hell.
Kestrel_45@reddit
Same 😂
Had grays / white since early 20s.
It grows on you 😳🙄😂 sorry the dad joke was there and had to run with it
Fitmature1@reddit
My comment was going to be, "it's better than flesh tone"!
Packu_Bat@reddit
I have a beautiful chocolate brown hair !!!! I have a streak of grey , I call it my werewolf streak and I wish now my hair would go ahead and turn all grey / silver ! I love it ! My hair is very long and all natural and I am welcoming the change !
Evening_Warthog_9476@reddit
I’m 45 and not a one yet lol I have very dark thick hair though… my dad was 52 when I was born and he still didn’t have any gray hairs then either I don’t think my dad really got gray until his 60s so hopefully I will follow suite lol because I will be coloring it lol
MCMaude@reddit
I was completely white headed by 30 but fought it til 47. I wish I had let go sooner. I love my white hair!
SadAd1232@reddit
Hell yes! It’s beautiful. And color on gray hair only lasts about two weeks, so very high maintenance. Embrace it, my friend!
Mumchkin@reddit
Absolutely, I'm looking forward to when I have majority coverage, and then I'm going to have a lot of fun with funky colors. No need for bleaching. 😆
Dirtymac09@reddit
I’m going for the silver fox thing myself. At least that’s what I tell people. Honestly, I go from thinking I’m a sly, slick, handsome older man, to I don’t give a fuck what I look like cause I don’t ever see my face except in the mirror, by accident. Haha!
mlvalentine@reddit
I call it witchy silver. 😂
VeryFeralHousewife@reddit
I love my tinsel!
micro_berts@reddit
I stopped coloring my hair 5 years ago at 54. I love my hair now!
FyreSign@reddit
Rocking my grays hard! Except down the middle apparently lol (contacts were for Halloween, but they matched my hair!)
HuckleberryAromatic@reddit
Yup.
Grumpy1976@reddit
Going as gracefully as I can! Well I threatened my kids I’d dye it green. 😅🤘🏻
PapillionGurl@reddit
Yes, I stopped coloring my hair over a year ago and I get compliments on my white/gray color all the time. If you're blondish going white or gray some purple shampoo will really make your color pop.
According-Ad5312@reddit
Each one is a battle scar
UbiquitousMortal@reddit
I have 3 older brothers. All of them went bald years ago comparatively to me.
I have greying hair instead. I like to think I win
Yams_Are_Evil@reddit
No, too boring. I never have the same hair color more than 6 months.
catharsis69@reddit
Folks at work call me the silver fox. Love it platinum. Never call it grey
lisathew8lifter@reddit
Nope
TooTiredToWhatever@reddit
Yup, hair dye is for fakers.
SeaworthinessMean794@reddit
NEVER GIVE IN!!! 😰😜😂😂
Taminella_Grinderfal@reddit
I let mine go during Covid and love it. I had been coloring every 3-4 weeks for 20 years. I put some work in initially , bleaching and toning because the ends were so drastically dark but after that I just tone it, or play with fun colors.
Multigrain_Migraine@reddit
Man I wish my hair looked this good! It's a thinning, frizzy mess no matter what I do to it.
solstice105@reddit
It's by Matrix, and it's called SoColor Cult. They make colors, so make sure you don't get a color dye. It's a white box with black wiring and just says Semi. If the workers at your Sally's are half as awesome as the ones at mine, they'll know exactly what you're talking about if you need help finding it.
kckitty71@reddit
My super straight hair has turned into this crazy, curly, uncontrollable weirdness. Menopause is a bitch.
Zeca_77@reddit
You are scaring me. I love my straight, blond hair with very few greys In there. I have heard that grey hair can be more curly. Weir is that both my parents have curly hair and mine is straight.
marshdd@reddit
Hormones absolutely affect hair curly ( at least in my experience).
Multigrain_Migraine@reddit
For. Real. I haven't even hit the worst part yet.
Taminella_Grinderfal@reddit
Make sure they check your iron levels, if they are low, that can cause hair loss.
solstice105@reddit
I've started doing the powdered collagen in my coffee, and it's helped with the thinning. It's still a little thinner right in front, but it's getting better.
I find a gloss you can apply to your hair at Sally's. It comes in a bottle, and you reapply every 4-6 weeks. If I can remember the name of it, I'll come back and respond to you again, or message you. But when I told the lady at Sally's that I just wanted a gloss coating, no color, she knew exactly what to grab for me. It made it shinier and helped control the frizz.
Sensitive-Issue84@reddit
Talk with your hairdresser, if you don't have one? Ask someone whose hair you love who theirs. Also, make sure you are getting enough proteins in your diet. Good luck, and I wish the hair fairy to bless you.
icantgetadecent-@reddit
How do you tone it? Looks fantastic!
SidePibble@reddit
I also grew mine out during covid. I'm curious about playing with fun colors. What do you do? Temporary dye?
Taminella_Grinderfal@reddit
Yes just semi permanent or color masks/conditioner.
SidePibble@reddit
Wow, I love it! How long does the color stay with semi permanent color?
Taminella_Grinderfal@reddit
It really depends, hair type, how often you wash it etc. for me it fades over a few weeks but I’ve had some stubborn ones.
olily@reddit
I dyed mine for years then said nope. It's all gray now, much like yours.
Now I get complimented on my hair color and people ask me if I dye it gray. Apparently it's a thing.
nicegirlsalwayswin@reddit
Looks awesome 😍
snackorwack@reddit
Looks great!
hoppyrules@reddit
That looks really nice!
Starbuck522@reddit
This does look nice!
homebrewmike@reddit
Nice!
BeepBopARebop@reddit
Fuck yeah, you earned 'em!
mekanub@reddit
This!! We survived long enough to get old and grey, be proud. Also us guys never look good dyed hair you can always tell.
Starbuck522@reddit
I started coloring grays at 20 or 21.
And I don't plan to ever stop!
yerederetaliria@reddit
I just want the shine in my hair to come back. There's some more pronounced gray at the sides and I've seen my husband play with them smiling. I think the lack of shine is because there are hidden grays elsewhere. That's why I color my hair. I've always had black hair and my husband loves it.
solstice105@reddit
I found a clear gloss at Sally's. If I can figure out what the name of it is, I'll message you. But I just went to Sally's and explained what I wanted. No color, just a gloss for shine. The lady knew exactly what to grab for me.
I liked the results. It wasn't super shiny, but it did give it a little boost. I'll be doing it again (I think it's semi permanent).
yerederetaliria@reddit
I would be interested, thanks.
solstice105@reddit
It's by Matrix, and it's called SoColor Cult. They make colors, so make sure you don't get a color dye. It's a white box with black wiring and just says Semi. If the workers at your Sally's are half as awesome as the ones at mine, they'll know exactly what you're talking about if you need help finding it.
KJoD83@reddit
Try Purple Mask by Verb it's a conditioner that's brought shine back and has my gray looking like highlights. Also Expensive by IGK is a great glossing rinse, just don't over use.
yerederetaliria@reddit
Thank you, I’ll try it😉
lhooper11111@reddit
I am proud to have my grays. It is growing in really streaking like mature highlights. I still wear it long too.
CommanderSincler@reddit
I didn't start graying until my mid forties, and to date my hair is overwhelmingly not grey. Does that mean I have to continue doing this shit until I earn them?
MrsButl3r@reddit
Exactly how I feel too!
FantasticWeasel@reddit
Totally. Glitter hair is wisdom. Love my silver shimmers.
TomDac7@reddit
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Fn badge of honor. Every one of them
Master_of_Bo_zo_do@reddit
I already have. For a while, I plucked them out of my mustache, but they took over.
wagmorebarkles@reddit
Gray is REALLY beautiful. Embrace it!
PicklesAndCoorslight@reddit (OP)
I'm low key excited. Closest thing to going back in time. *
babyfaceg10@reddit
Omg absolutely no way in hell
KikiStLouie@reddit
I’m introducing mine as a streak in my bangs, but continuing to color the rest. When most of my hair becomes solidly grey, then I’ll just let it happen.
Purple_Pianist1051@reddit
I let my hair go gray years ago.
fukmisideways@reddit
Already did. It was liberating.
LazarusMundi4242@reddit
Man I’ve been totally gray since I was 25. I’ve been dying my hair ever since.
fungusamongus8@reddit
im going white and im thrilled it's not gray. it sparkles too so i call it unicorn hair
Gloworm327@reddit
I dyed my hair for the last time right before my BFF got married in 2015. Ever since then I have been embracing the sparkle of my natural highlights.
Yada-yada-4488@reddit
Goin for white out baby.
--__--scott@reddit
I have a little and don’t mind. Most people think I’m way younger than what I am so it doesn’t hurt lol.
Key_Elderberry3351@reddit
I love my grays!
Dog_is_my_co-pilot1@reddit
I love your hair! Do you do anything to get the awesome style?
Key_Elderberry3351@reddit
I'm just lucky enough to have naturally curly hair. This is what it does on its own when I put a little curly specific hair gel in it and then diffuse it dry.
Dog_is_my_co-pilot1@reddit
I’ve never tried a diffuser. I’ve got some curly hair lol it’s moody.
Yours looks fabulous.
liverxoxo@reddit
Absolutely! There is know way I am going to be bothered with keeping up roots! Secondly, I know multiple women in their 70s and 80s that don’t want to pay for the upkeep but can’t bring themselves to let themselves be ‘old’ so they have these really bad home dye jobs that look so much worse than gray ever could. I just don’t want to go down that path
Impossible_Dingo9422@reddit
Too late, they’ve taken over completely!
No_Budget7828@reddit
I have. Life is so much easier
Firm-Loquat-7956@reddit
My beard is so white on the jawline (still some color on the front) that on a zoom call you can barely see it. Honesty, I debate doing a little just for men. But I airways thought I'd embrace it so long as the hair was still there. Holding out so far
SocksJockey@reddit
Yep. I like my grays.
Acrobatic_Ocelot_461@reddit
Bring 'em on! Makes me looked distinguished.
4thkindexperience@reddit
IMHO, I believe hair style has a lot to do with how well women wear gray.
bmw_1983@reddit
As a guy absolutely, I like the way the grey hairs make me look
mina-ann@reddit
I'm also blonde, and while I've got plenty of white hair growing in there no grey that I can see. For now I do lighten the rest of my dark blonde, but one day I intend to be all white and maybe just tone it.
SussinBoots@reddit
I stopped coloring about 6 years ago. Love it!
foolsrushin420@reddit
It's better than being bald... 🤷🏼♀️
HelloThisIsPam@reddit
Yes, I'm about ready to.
labnerd89@reddit
Hell yeah! I earned those MFers.
bosorka1@reddit
yep. i (51f) have one noticeable streak by one eye. if i look close, i can see individual silver strands. dying my hair is an expensive pain in the ass.
Natural-Shift-6161@reddit
Heck yes! I tell my husband all the time that i would love a full head of long gray hair, it’s so pretty n he agrees! Tbh i bleached my hair really light n because i add lavender color to it, it kinda turns it silvery
TheTimeBender@reddit
Well…
promethea4@reddit
With what’s left? I’ll accept whatever I can get! I used to have a head full of thick dark hair, and now I don’t care about grays as long as it’s on my head. I name the concentrated places after my children, i.e., these are from 1, those back there caused by 2, etc.
Alanlost73@reddit
Yeah, but I'd prefer not to have a receding hairline. Gray doesn't mean anything to me except to show I've been through some sh*t.
Disastrous_Course_96@reddit
My hair grew out during the pandemic. Instead of my 50year Clairol auburn bob, it was long and beautiful with light and gray streaks. I put it up in a jaunty side ponytail and I love it!
Accomplished_War_805@reddit
I've never colored my hair, and I never will. We have earned every white stripe in our manes.
thebunhinge@reddit
Accepted them during the pandemic and never looked back! Easier to grow out before you start dying, btw.
Imaginary-Card-1694@reddit
Yep! It’s made life much easier - and cheaper!
Fluffymanolo@reddit
I started getting grey at 12, so no.
HavBoWilTrvl@reddit
Hell, I only think to get a haircut maybe twice a year. I'm certainly not going to keep up with a coloring schedule.
SnooChickens9974@reddit
I'm 55 and I've had gray hairs since my mid 20s. I have been all white for years now. Snow white. I don't have a problem with it. Would I love my old Auburn hair back? Yes. But it is what it is.
Mother-Laugh2395@reddit
I had been dyeing my hair for about 30 years, thanks to premature grays. Spending lots of money for it to look good for about 2 weeks, then the roots would show and back to the salon I went. My husband kept telling me to let it go, but I wasn’t ready. Then I lost my hair during chemo and it was so nice not to do anything! No cutting, dyeing, styling…nothing except put on a hat. When it came back, I decided that I was done with the coloring and continued with the gray.
Used_Confidence_2135@reddit
I started going grey at 21 so there wasn't really a point in avoiding it.
Apprehensive_Glove_1@reddit
Yep. I'm good with going gray. Still a ways off but it's creeping in, especially when I let my beard grow in.
Shaking-a-tlfthr@reddit
Nope.
dangerstupidkills@reddit
It's better that it turn gray than turn loose .
DesignNormal9257@reddit
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. I just colored the grays and it feels right.
IndependentChip43@reddit
Yes. Me.
rharper38@reddit
I did for a while, but, when my kid's kindergarten teacher thought I was her gramma, that was a lot
Trinity13Rose@reddit
Aughhh…I’m this close 🤏🏾 to letting my grey hair win!
Responsible_Moose171@reddit
Yep I am
nailhead13@reddit
Yup
Ok_Researcher_9796@reddit
If it bothers you dye it but I don't think it's necessary.
PhasmaUrbomach@reddit
Yep. I still don't have that much, just the temples, and it looks cool. I've never dyed my hair.
Tylerdurden389@reddit
Started getting grays on my chin immediately as I entered my late 30s. Now at 40, I have more grays than I'm content with. So my circle beard is now a horshoe mustache with the soul patch extending to the bottom. It's like there's a large black ♠️ on my chin. It's unique and folks like it. To be fair, i live in the south.
Papaya_flight@reddit
I have been getting white hairs since I turned 16. I am going to just let it all turn into white by itself, at least I have tons of hair.
Vegetable-Bee-7461@reddit
I spend my money on more fun things.
GeekyBookWorm87@reddit
I did this before COVID. I've dyed it for YEARS. I just got tired of it.
paranormal_junkie73@reddit
Yep. I have never been able to actually color my hair a "different" color. Just different shades of dark brown.
I sort a kind of can't wait.
SadieSchatzie@reddit
Yes. Being greying since I was 17. I'm down with it. All good. I earned this shizz.
Korgon213@reddit
Yup
beachlover77@reddit
Yup! I don't want to spend time or money getting my hair colored.
Remarkable-Moose-409@reddit
The pandemic was my coming to grips with my grays. I now spend that money on foot massages- sooo much better!
BurritosOverTacos@reddit
Yep
morbidemadame@reddit
This is me, I'm turning 48 this week. Been this grey since I was 25 and took till last year to embrace it. I should have done this sooner!
hattenwheeza@reddit
Happy birthday!! Lovely hair!

MyGodItsFullofScars@reddit
That ship has way sailed
Stardusk_89@reddit
I’ve been trying to pay someone to make my hair the color of my natural silver. No one has been able to. I will just let it grow out.
shinyquartersquirrel@reddit
Nope, no thanks. Props to those of you who have the self confidence to do it and maybe I'm just vain but I have no desire to have gray hair. I feel old enough, I don't need any extra help in that department. I'll live with my delusions. I told my hair dresser last week that she better show up to my coffin and make sure I'm still blonde or I'd come back to haunt her.
morbidemadame@reddit
I was 60% grey at 25. When do people will stop saying grey is OLD?
Sensitive-Issue84@reddit
Especially since kids are dying their hair gray now also.
morbidemadame@reddit
I decided to let mine grow after my 24yo niece and their friends saw my 2 months roots and told me the grey would look cool. They pay 400$ on average to get the same hair I have now!
mentaljewelry@reddit
I’m a brunette but I’m using blonde to blend in the gray as it grows out. It’s working out great, but I’m not used to seeing a blonde person in the mirror.
Dame_Ingenue@reddit
As a fellow brunette, this is my plan once the greys have a significant hold on my head. Right now it’s mostly just the front.
PaulAllensCorpse@reddit
I’m doing the same thing. The blonde is soooo much easier to upkeep with grey hair.
dontlookback76@reddit
My great grandmother dyed her hair red at the salon every month until she passed at 81. She was a natural redhead in her youth. She wasn't dating really, although she had a gentleman friend, and most of the time didnt go out of the house. She did it because she liked it. There is nothing wrong with doing something for you.
MrsTruffulaTree@reddit
Same here. I'm a brunette. I tried to let my grays grow out during covid. I lasted 2 months and dyed it. I go to the salon every 4 weeks for a color touch-up. I don't know when I'll stop dying my hair. My mom is 82 and still dyes hers.
yorkiemom68@reddit
I'm with you. I go every 6 weeks. I am a dark brunette but now get caramel and blonde weaved through to blend the grey. I feel better about myself, and like you, if I'm deluding myself, so be it. I love being a new grandma. I just don't want to look like it, lol! I'm 56.
JLlo11@reddit
If ageism in the workforce wasn’t a thing, I’d be tempted. But I think I’m like you, too vain!
hoppyrules@reddit
👆this. Once I retire I’m ok with letting it go grey. Though I’m sure it is a rock road to get there so don’t hold me to that promise!
IKnowAllSeven@reddit
Omg this is my eternal struggle!
I don’t want the gray, makes me feel old.
But also the six week hair appointments are a slog, and expensive (the at home coloring kits never go well for me, and my hair is black so grays come in fast and obvious)
Right now I’m mostly gray, gonna see how it looks when it’s all in, and then decide.
Eric-305@reddit
Yeah. Just wish a had more hair! 😋
boondoggler@reddit
it's just hair
Latter-Village7196@reddit
I'm in my swamp hag era. I'm letting the grays grow out (mostly white since I'm a red head), I've pretty much stopped brushing it, I never style it, and I wash it maybe once a week. Plus since I never leave the house and work remote I've gone completely feral 🧙🏻♀️
Dog_is_my_co-pilot1@reddit
This made me laugh, because it’s relatable. I have nice pajamas I live in. Adult clothes are strictly for when I’m forced to leave the house.
Latter-Village7196@reddit
Forced being the key word there. I have a few doc appointments that I have to go to in person and I get a bit indignant about putting on "real clothes" 🤣
Dog_is_my_co-pilot1@reddit
Omg, doctor/medical appointments are the key to my social life 😂
“I put on a clean sort for, this?”
Latter-Village7196@reddit
LOL Right? I still don't put on real pants, just nicer, more appropriate for public type pants and a better shirt. Although I am in the PNW so I pretty much live in fleece 9-10 months a year. And I still don't do anything with my hair, I'm all about the hats.
I actually realized today when I looked in the mirror that my eyebrows are going back to their natural caterpillar state now too! I yelled at my husband about that and he's like "why would I notice your eyebrows if you didn't?" Fair point 🙄
Dog_is_my_co-pilot1@reddit
I look great with bed head, thankfully.
I’m in Colorado so I totally get the fleece thing.
Being blonde I’ve never had noticeable eyebrows.
Husbands are so supposed to tell us when we are looking a bit unruly! Sheesh.
MrMurdoch123@reddit
Its easier if your a male .................. embrace the grey !
EnvMarple@reddit
I was purple before this. I switched to semi-permanent dyes, till I cut off all my bleaching and permanent dye…then I just went natural and let the colour wear out.
PeludoPapiBear@reddit
I’m 51 burly hairy stocky guy . It’s life. Greys everywhere…,,EVERYWHERE……
Clint-witicay@reddit
I’m embracing them loathingly
Different_Stand_5558@reddit
I had to at 23 when I got vitiligo. Half my hair everywhere lost pigment. By the time I could actually grow a full beard I didn’t want to anymore because I did not want to be skinny Santa.
Fun as hell to shag women twice my age because my wood was wooden. Their husbands or exes may have not have been?
But yeah premature grey (white) bothered the shit out of me when I was younger.
Now my white hair is in line with the grays of everyone else my age. I’ve never smoked and stayed out of the sun. I’m pretty fit. I’m passable for a late 30s fellow and I’m 48.
Open_Bug_4251@reddit
Mine showed up in my early twenties. I colored it for about ten years but haven’t for over twelve. I looked so much younger once I let it go white. Although now that I’m mid-forties it’s starting to catch up to me.
O_o-22@reddit
Already did 7 years ago after I got sick of dyeing after 5 years. No sense denying that I’m old anyway.
nadiestar@reddit
No. Absolutely not. I’m going to dye the living hell out of it. All the colours. All of them. I will not grow old gracefully.
rampant_bastard@reddit
Yup
Mindless-Ad8071@reddit
Oh hell yes! I am so hoping that my hair turns completely gray. I earned it! I'm 63 and not very gray while my 68 year old husband is entirely white. I love gray hair but unfortunately I have inherited my father's non gray hair. I love gray!
askurselfY@reddit
Must be due to consuming pickles and coors light.
TomKhatacourtmayfind@reddit
I'm not even gen x I'm gettin grey hair.
JerewB@reddit
Got some salt and pepper going on, but I couldn't care either way, TBH.
420EdibleQueen@reddit
I’m actually considering coloring my hair a silver grey just to roll with it.,
woodworkingguy1@reddit
I have been going gray since high school.
Tater72@reddit
I started at 14, I’m pretty comfortable with it
Kenderean@reddit
Same, and I finally allowed it to have its way when I turned 45. Now my hair is fully silver and I love it so much. The funniest thought, to me, is that I get so many compliments from younger women on my hair now.
YorkiesandSneakers@reddit
I didn’t so much as “go gray”, but since I was 15 hairs at random would just turn into fishing line white.
marshdd@reddit
My sister too. I got grays in college.
TheVoicesOfBrian@reddit
Ditto. But I'm still not fully gray. It's taking its sweet time.
What's hilarious are my peers that are going bald that want to mock my gray. Like, dude, you really want to pick that fight?
jaxbravesfan@reddit
Same here. Started seeing grays at 17 years old. By the time I was in my 40s, people would assume I was my youngest daughter’s grandfather when we were out in public. Now, at 50, it’s 95 percent gray. Doesn’t bother me at all. Better a full head of gray hair than starting to lose it like so many of my friends my age.
solsticesunrise@reddit
My hair went white at 16 as well. I’m super pale, too, so I need color in my hair to look less dead.
onyxpirate@reddit
Same here. On top of that I’m too lazy and cheap to dye it and maintenance it every few weeks. As it stands, I cut my hair once or twice a year.
grunkage@reddit
I knew a kid in high school who had a full head of salt and pepper hair when he was 16
The_Vee_@reddit

Me! Going from dark brown to silver and white (I hope!)
shadowrunner003@reddit
Damn I must be one of the lucky ones, 48 years and Still have a full head of hair that reaches half way down my back, no receding hairline and no grey hair, still a lovely shade of reddish brown much to the disgust of most of my Gen-x mates who are either Bald, receding faster than the icecaps or as grey as ash.
Ch3ll1sa@reddit
Yes! I stopped coloring and cut off all my hair in a pixie type cut during the pandemic. Best decision ever! I've grown it long and actually get quite a few compliments about it. It's super low maintenance too. We've earned our grays, silvers, and whites! 💪
TomKhatacourtmayfind@reddit
I'm not even gen x I'm gettin grey hair.
I_love_Hobbes@reddit
Been accepting them for more than 20 years.
mnbvcxz1052@reddit
Yes! My (47f) hair is skipping over gray and going right from dark brown to white, so I have been leaning into it with long white box braids, while adding in some gray / brown / black streaks. I want to look like a wizard someday. I’ve always loved gray / silver hair and have been looking forward to this part of aging for a while.
roadtwich@reddit
Beautiful 😍
felixfelix@reddit
I got my first grey hair at age 18. Since then, every haircut has simply revealed more grey hairs than before.
thisisnotraisinbran@reddit
I've been dyeing my hair green since the early 90s and I see no reason to stop.

Age gracefully
OtherlandGirl@reddit
I’ve decided to see them as free highlights :)
sugarlump858@reddit
Me too. I have these cool gray streaks on both sides like the bride of Frankenstein. I lucked out there.
roadtwich@reddit
Same! I have very long, dark hair with white streaks at the temples. A young lady approached me at the grocery store and told me how much she liked it. She wanted to know where I had it done, and she was very surprised it was natural:)
ifnotnow-then@reddit
Yep, all natural highlights and no cost.
LoanSudden1686@reddit
Already have. Started graying at 21, so after 40 it just felt like time 🤷♀️

Yep. I'm just letting it go. I have naturally really dark hair and I have the Bride of Frankenstein streaks going on. I love it.

Over-Marionberry-686@reddit
Years ago.
itsmyvoice@reddit
Over the last 3 years I went through a process of totally transitioning to my lovely salt and pepper streaks. There are some pure silver and white streaks in there as well.
I get so many compliments on it! And I feel like I'm empowering others to go natural. I am the age I am and I don't feel the need to hide that. Plus I am saving money and time.
Also, for anyone who does dye their hair.. I do not under any circumstances recommend stripping and trying to add silver or gray so that it all blends in. You literally have to wash your hair in cold water for as long as it takes to fully grow out and touch it up every like 3 to 4 weeks. I had a horrible experience of trying that and it looked awful for a long time.

writergal75@reddit
I grew mine out during lockdown and then in 2022 I had my stylist chop all of the brassy ends off and she blended a silver toner in so the rest of my grow out would be smooth. I love it!
azmadame_x@reddit
I stopped coloring my hair during the COVID lockdowns. I've never gotten as many compliments on my hair color as I do now. Grey is IN!
Extreme_Mission3468@reddit
I'm 39 and started accepting the grey and white hair last year. I've earned every single one!
hippieinthehills@reddit
My hair is about 75% grey and 25% red-brown. No plans to dye it, ever.
Dye looks increasingly unnatural, and frankly bad, as we age.
Girl77879@reddit
I did years ago. But also, I'm noticing my hair that isn't going grey, is coming in blonder- like when I was a kid. I was blonde until 8 or so, then my hair got darker and more brown but with natural blonde & auburn highlights.
GoldenGMiller@reddit
Absolutely. I'm not shallow and worried about what others think. In fact my wife went gray early and I think it's sexy. Trying to color it away never looks natural and this makes you look like you're trying too hard
floppy_breasteses@reddit
What else can I do? Those ladies in their 80s with the raven black hair aren't fooling anyone. I refuse to be that person.

I dye my hair, the box colour I used is described as “opalescent lilac” and it turns my greys pink :-)
NorraVavare@reddit
Yup... I decided in my 20s when my hair color started to seriously change. I'd leave it alone until almost all white. Then I'd go purple. I'm about half way there.
triphawk07@reddit
I haven't gotten a white hair, but my beard is almost white.
fatkidclutch@reddit
I usually color mine because it's a hot mess but for continuity issues on a film I'm in I haven't been able to color it, so now, by default, I'm accepting them
NotNobody_Somebody@reddit
I started going grey when I was pregnant with my son (I was 32). It grew in as a rogue streak at the front, and has spread across the front of my hair. My hairdresser likes to tell me that people pay good money for the way my greys have grown in 😂 The back is still quite brown. I stopped colouring about 5 (?) years ago - it simply became too expensive. I'm not ashamed of having grey hair - I am lucky enough to have lived long enough to have it. If I am really lucky, it will all go white eventually, like my gran. She had beautiful, soft, wavy white hair.
winslow_wong@reddit
I got my first grey pube.
cheesecheeseonbread@reddit
Fuck no. Letting myself go gray would interfere with my strategy of dealing with aging through denial.
wolves_hunt_in_packs@reddit
Being visibly older lets you get away with telling off rude people easier, at least in my experience. When I was younger if e.g. someone cut a queue and I called them out, they'd be like whatever or even get angry. Now that my beard is visibly streaked with white people pay attention lol
cmt38@reddit
Sadly it generally works the other way around for women.
joyous-at-the-end@reddit
nope, haven't gotten a speeding ticket for 20 years
cheesecheeseonbread@reddit
Correct. The older a woman looks, the less what she has to say matters, regardless of setting.
Starbuck522@reddit
I don't even see it that way.
TO EACH THEIR OWN, OF COURSE.
To ME, who had enough grays to color at 21, I just see it as part of my basic upkeep. Pluck or wax wayward eyebrows, paint nails, shave legs and underarms, and color hair.
I am not intending to fool anyone. Everyone knows my fingernails aren't naturally pink. I assume they know a mid 50s woman with full brown hair is dying it.
I also remove Random hairs that pop out from my upper lip and chin. I assume no one leaves those there because it's a normal part of aging. I see covering the gray exactly the same as plucking the 1"white hair which is suddenly popping out of my chin.
PicklesAndCoorslight@reddit (OP)
True, not trying to insult folks that dye their hair, it's just that I never was one to go to the salon and don't think I'd have the energy to upkeep it.
cheesecheeseonbread@reddit
No insult taken! To each their own. That's the Gen X way.
siamesecat1935@reddit
Yup. I do the same. I hate how my hair looks when my roots begin to show. But I also know a lot of people who gray looks great on, including my almost 90 year old mom! She had dark brown hair, and was salt and pepper for a while, but now is mostly gray. She has never colored her hair, and its suits her.
Me? i feel because I'm fair and blonde, there's not a lot of contrast in the gray/white hair and my natural color, and on me, it looks dingy. so I color it.
joyous-at-the-end@reddit
same, my orange mane is a legend.

Wide_Breadfruit_2217@reddit
I went white on sides early from a stressful time. I tried dying it and I looked like I had cocker spaniel ears. Realized I would have to get it dark than put in highlights to appear natural. Pain in ass-nope. So visibly gray/white from 35 on. Now white around whole head and starting into crown. For some reason get compliments. Something else people don't realize is with gray your skin tone also usually changes. So dyed hair can make skin looked washed out. So you might want more makeup-further pain in ass
ElectricianMatt@reddit
hell ya! excited to watch myself actually age instead of hiding it. My wife is doing the same. She claims I will be a silver fox 😆 we'll see about that

OK I'm an anomaly here. My family greys VERY weirdly late. Sibs are mid to late 60s, still very dark brunette with smattering of gray. I'm late 50s and have just a touch starting at my temples, it's easy to dab a bit of dry concealing powder on at scalp and it's covered. But I kinda hate this ... my hair was strong golden natural highlights over a very medium warm brown, very shiny. It is now nothing like that - it's one color, a dark mousy medium brown, coarser. Much much thinner. If it were lighter, any mix of salt & pepper, it'd be brighter and more flattering to late 50s skin tone. As it is, it looks dyed - which I haven't done since messing around with henna in 1984. And not like a good dye job either :(

I went back to my stylist and we came up with a two toned approach (balayage with highlights and lowlights). There’s still gray showing, but the overall impression is that of dark blond hair with golden streaks. I absolutely love it.
PyrokineticLemer@reddit
I did. When I was younger, I worked with a guy who used that spray paint color on his hair and any time it got hot (this was in South Carolina), it ran down his neck Rudy Giuliani style. I decided none of that for me.

I’m in the same boat, I don’t have to worry about my head going gray, it’s all gone.
djh_van@reddit
If you can pull it off, actually dying your whole hair white is a thing that the kids do now. It actually looks really good. Rather than having a patch that says "getting old", having a deliberate whole head of healthy white hair says "statement". And it sort of looks the opposite of old.
Google "people with dyed white hair" and see how good it can look!
Willowx19stop@reddit
What do you mean gonna? Mines been doing that for awhile now.🙃

My hair is more salt than pepper now, and I love it. Get a shampoo or conditioner that includes violet dye, it will help get rid of any brassiness or yellowing.
Agrippa_Aquila@reddit
I'm off to the hair stylist in less than 30 minutes to start dying my greys. Stress is causing a lot of grey over the past year and it's coming in all over. And with dark brown hair, it's really noticeable.
Nate16@reddit
Hell no! I went out and bought a Corvette.
kategoad@reddit
Yep. Mine came in as a rogue stripe. The rest is blonde, but there's a clear white part near the front. It's kinda cool. Occasionally I dye the white part blue.

I started going grey in my 20s, and once I hit 40 or so, I developed this “bride of Frankenstein” style white streak in the middle of my hair that looks kind of cool. Now I’d say I’m officially in the “salt and pepper” phase, though there’s still some color left.
PrairieGrrl5263@reddit
My gray looks good. Two bands of silver on each side where my forehead curves down to my temple, with some silver in the rest of the beunette mix. When I wear my hair down, not much of the silver shows, so most the the time I wear it pulled back and settled to show it. My bf calls it my "argent tiara."

Mine come in silver.
When I was a teenager I read a poem about the difference between the color grey and the color silver. It waxed poetic about grey being the color of battle ships, ominous storm clouds, and various other things, and silver being the color of beautiful exquisite jewelry and money, among other pretty things. And the closing line said "grey is the color of old ladies hair, silver's the color of mine." I loved that poem, I wish I could find it or remember who wrote it. I've always wished I'd get silver instead of grey and luckily for me I did. I'll never cover my silver strands.

PollutionQuick140@reddit
I grew mine out years ago when someone thought I was much younger than I was, and enjoyed the whole 'young person with some gray hair' look for a while, then I cut my hair short and a few years ago realized I looked like my grandmother and started to grow my hair out - it looked horrible so I panicked again and dyed it, but my hair is blindingly white and very dye resistant at my temples so then I looked like an old person trying to look younger which is the worst so I have grown it out.
Anyway it actually looks ok now but I recently gave myself bangs so I have another problem, I am glad it is winter and I can wear a hat.

I did for a while. Also let my hair grow. Hated it and my hair was so dry. Chopped it off. And went back to being a blonde. It’s so much healthier now. Keeping it short and my grey was an ugly grey anyway.

I started going grey in my mid 20’s. I didn’t accept it back then. But by mid 2000’s I realized I would do highlights instead of a full color. Now I’m streaked blond/grey. Remember some years ago scientists figured what causes graying? A reaction that triggers bleaching?
After waiting a year, I'm finally trying out the Arey system. Too soon to tell yet. Apparently it can catch the follicles not yet gone totally white and revert them back quite a bit, but once they are all white it's too late. If I don't like the results or nothing happens, dye it is. (I went grey during covid lockdown but needed to look for work after :( and resumed dying)

My hair is exactly like yours - white as a child, blonde as an adult, starting to see silvers. I get a partial foil twice a year at a salon, it’s just 12 foils total and just does the top layer of my hair, enough to disguise the silvers.

Started going gray in my early 20s. By mid to late 30s, it was completely gray. My beard had some red in it, my wife called them my copper wires, but now it's salt and pepper, mainly salt. But I still have thick hair, so I'm not complaining. Plus, when the hair grows out a little and with my beard, I've been told I look like Kenny Roger's before plastic surgery. I'll take that as a compliment.

I still have most of my hair and I’m letting it be gray. My wife has been dying her hair at home to save money, but started going to the salon. It would be fine with me if she went gray, but she doesn’t want it and feels like women at work are judgey.

It's funny, even when you are married a long time, you learn things. I thought I was being sensitive when I said it was fine to be gray. She kind of rolled her eyes and said, "We don't do it for the men. We do it for other women."
Basic differences in gender roles. Like I can't imagine doing anything for my appearance just to get approval from other men. As long as my wife says I look nice, that's enough for me.

But not to cover up the grays. To me I'm actually kind of sad that it means I won't get to see the grays coming in. But I miss my black and red hair
meltonr1625@reddit
When I got my first gray hair, I pulled it, laminated it and mailed it to my mom with no note or explanation. When she called I told her she could have mine since I " gave" her hers. She was not amused

I always said I’d color my hair until my youngest got married, but in 2020, since we were home all the time, I let it grow out. I love it!! It’s salt and pepper and I love it?

I stopped coloring at 39 and never looked back. This is me. I earned these grays. I feel like every one of them tells a story.
It’s odd, but now that I’m natural, I get more compliments on the color than I ever have in my life.
youdontlookadayover@reddit
Kind of? I went gray in my 40's and colored it dark for years, but went fully gray during COVID but now I color it blue. I'm a little old lady with blue hair now.
Megtooth1966@reddit
Absolutely! And your grey streak looks beautiful in my opinion
QuietObjective3824@reddit
No! I hate it! Grey only around my face
PezCandyAndy@reddit
I'm a guy and probably going to submit to whatever nature has in store for me. Throughout my 30's, it was two or three random greys. Through my mid to later 40's it was maybe 10-15 random ones here and there. My beard always had a full range of dark browns, reddish browns, and lighter beige so the greys there have been masked rather well. One of my friends who has a good amount of grey hair would call me "Mr. Just-For-Men". He refused to believe I didn't color my hair.
I have had relatively few greys as I have gotten older but time always catches up to everyone. My dad was like this when he was around my age (49) where within the space of about 1 or 2 years, the greys start coming out in force. The men on both sides of my family tree have always looked young for their age regardless of greys, so I may just let them be. On the other hand I have always wanted to dye my hair a darker green or something wild but never had the guts so who knows.

I don’t do anything with my hair. I tell the barber to cut it short and vertical on the sides and leave it longer in top, but kind of flat.
It’s gotten poofy and a but silly looking on the sides again, so need another haircut soon.
For me wash-and-wear with very low maintenance is what I’m after. My hair has other ideas though.

I turned 50 over the summer and decided to transition to grey. I gave it a real shot but ended up not liking it so I went and got it colored again a couple weeks ago. I just felt like the S&P was aging me prematurely. This was my salt & pepper back to colored transformation this month.

The great thing about being blonde, is that you still call it blonde. . . until you can't. If you hadn't pointed it out, or if I'm not close to you, I wouldn't have noticed.
I do the same thing with my beard. My younger brother is the only one who's called me out on it. And he and I have a back and forth thing. His beard went grey first, and was more noticeable 🤣.
I got lucky with my hair, I just keep getting darker, called indeterminate brown in the Mid-West.
Your hair looks great! Keep being you!
Zeca_77@reddit
Natural blond hair is really the best for going grey. At 53, I don't have many and they're pretty well blended in. Where I live, the sun is really strong, so it sort of bleaches out and the grey hides in there better. Sometimes in the winter months I use that John Freida shampoo for blond hair for the same effect.
FlippingPossum@reddit
Yup. A neighbor completed my new highlights. He was mortified when I pointed out it was gray hair. Hahaha.

BurntGhostyToasty@reddit
38F here. I have naturally black hair and it’s SO DIFFICULT to hide the greys against the black. My hair also grows like a weed so I was colouring it almost every 4 weeks and just couldn’t take it anymore. This is my first attempt since this September 2024 to just let it be. I also have eczema so dye is awful for me anyway but we shall see how this goes!
absultedpr@reddit
I’ve been a big guy with a truck for my entire adult life. To me grey hair just means that people will stop asking me to move shit for them because I’m too old. I’ve been waiting years for this so I definitely would never dye it
mrpotatonutz@reddit
Yeah I’m not dying my fucking hair I’m a slacker idc enough
RealPumpkin3199@reddit
No plans to dye hair. 55F here. Some grey. Six grandchildren. I'm not worried about whether I "look" old. I'm not trying to look young. I'm just embracing me. My favorite month is my birthday month, and I start rounding up to the next year as soon as the new year hits (my birthday is in August). Easier math, and who cares? Age is just a number.
To each his own though! I don't judge others who dye, it's just not for me. I think it's because my grandmas dyed their hair until they died, and it did not look great. My mom chose not to dye, and I always thought she looked beautiful and elegant.

I have complicated feelings about it. I have red hair and it’s always been my best feature, I’m nervous to lose it so I’m considering coloring it for the first time ever. Hard to let go. It’s ok now, the white hairs just look like highlights, but it’s getting closer to decision time.
On the other hand, gray or white hair can look absolutely awesome, so I kind of just want to let it happen.

My head hair is mostly brown with a bunch of grey mostly blended in. There's a spot that is white near my hairline about the size of a golf ball.
My facial hair was always very dark, almost black. Now, my cheeks are completely white and the goatee area is a mix of white and salt and pepper.
Dyeing just seems like too much work. I'll just shave my face when I want to cut off a few years.
KattPurrsen@reddit
Yes. I did a highlights for about a year ten years ago. Then didn’t recognise myself because my hair colour was so different (I’ usually really high contrast, pale skin, dark hair/eyes).
Dyed it back darker for about another year and then couldn’t be bothered with the upkeep of that either.
Used a pink semi permanent for a bit for fun and to blend them in for a wee while til the greys were long enough not to just be a noticeably stripe at the roots. Then once the Mallen streak was long enough to tuck behind my ears I gave up on the pink too.

That's how long it took me. Four haircuts and 18 months. My hair is the healthiest it's been in decades since I stopped coloring it. Purple shampoo and conditioner keeps it vibrant. 💜
witchbrew7@reddit
No. I work in an ageist company. I want to remain employed for a few more years.
aprehensivebad42@reddit
Yes, but not my mustache. Not a joke, I color my mustache. My hair is blonde with very little grey but my facial hair comes in white.
situation9000@reddit
I love my gray streaks. I’ve been wanting to go full grey for years but it’s only happening in little streaks at a time. My first grey hair showed up when my kids were in middle school and my daughter thought I had accidentally gotten grey paint in my hair!) A friend asked me the other day if I had gotten highlights! I’m generally perceived as about 10 years younger because I’m active, energetic, and won a few birth lotteries (round baby face for a ridiculously long time) so people try to make sense of my greys by assuming it’s something other than grey hair.
uberphaser@reddit
I'm just happy i still have most of my hair! Both my dad and I started balding slightly at like 36, and then STOPPED. For the last 15 years I've had a bit of a monk's spot, and the front of my head is slightly thin but it just keeps growing that way.
And I'm going salt and pepper at the temples like J. Jonah Jameson, which is somewhat amusing to me, so I'll take it.

Nope. I'll be dying my hair in my 90's if I make it that far. Grey hair for me = old.
Evilelfqueen@reddit
I am almost 59 (next month), but since my 40's i had a little grey underneath, but my hair has stayed brown still and you can't see the grey. I have never colored my hair. When it finally does change though, I will probably color for a few years til I give in.

Mountain_Exchange768@reddit
I’ve been salt/pepper on and off for the past 6-7 years. Some times I go platinum blonde, sometimes I go white with a sling blue or purple tint.
I’m currently growing out platinum - have hard water so it goes yellowy so fast, even with the purple shampoos.
I hate my natural salt/pepper mix as it’s more salt on top and pepper on the bottom.
Going to get some highland see if it helps me stomach it.
I’d love to back to brown, but having to color the roots every four weeks sucks.
cholaw@reddit
Nope fighting grays until the end. My aunt used to say.... "As long as there is dye at the dime store..."

violetauto@reddit
Not yet, no. I’m mid-50s.
Once it is ALL gray and not in patches, yes.
allminorchords@reddit
Yep, I’m a redhead so they look like highlights for some reason.
LaRoseDuRoi@reddit
Last time I saw my little sister, she asked who I'd gone to for my new blonde highlights... I just laughed and told her that that's Mother Nature's highlights because I'm getting more and more white strands. I'm a natural redhead, and all the family members who had red or blond hair went white instead of grey, so I figured that's what would happen to mine, and I'm glad I was right.
I'll probably never bother to dye it unless I get a little crazy and go for hot pink or something. I haven't even worn makeup in 10+ years! I can't be arsed to fuss over all that stuff anymore.
Roopie1023@reddit
Yes! I’m dirty/dark blonde, and the grays coming in are a sparkly silver that I love. I’m a tall fat 52yo woman, so all of my giveadamns are busted. 🤣 I still work in a corporate environment, but out here in the West it’s a lot more laid back. I’m embracing this part of my life!
mtempissmith@reddit
I have had a problem with my shoulders the past few months so I haven't dyed my hair red in a while. Just too hard and it's too expensive here in NYC to go to a salon. I just won't pay $200 to dye my hair.
I knew I was close to going pure white under the dye but now with it really growing out it is going like 3/4 snow white with strands of silver mixed in. Not gray, metallic silver.
It's actually looking more like a platinum blonde. Somebody I hadn't seen asked me if I was dying it that blonde now. I was like "Nope, just going that color now."
She was like "I know women who pay a lot of $$$ at a salon to dye that color! It's actually very nice!"
It actually doesn't look bad but I still feel like it makes me look too washed out. I need some warm color in my hair to counteract the fact that I am a very pale person. That's the thing about having some variation on red hair. You go gray and you can look too pale...
LaRoseDuRoi@reddit
I'm so pale, I look like Casper's sister as it is! This will be interesting. My hair is still mostly red, just has an overall lighter colour, so I probably have a few more years to enjoy it. Having my waist-length auburn hair was always my one true vanity, but I'm ok with letting go of it at this point.
Maybe a few warmer-toned highlights, just around your face, would help with feeling washed out?
mtempissmith@reddit
Nah, I think that looks yellow and that's not a good look for me. As soon as I can lift both arms again I'm going to henna it red. It's just more me than platinum.
Existing-Leopard-212@reddit
You've got that "Money Streak" people pay a lot to maintain! I showed it to my wife and she asked if you were related to her.
NicInNS@reddit
I did for a while (also I had light brown hair so it blended in-ish…found my first grey in my late 20s)…and I still would, it’s just I always wanted to go red and in 2020, after never ever colouring my hair (except for a sun-in stint back in…like…1988), I went for it and I love it.

My beard is definitely more salt than pepper and the chicks dig it!😂
BlueGinghamGirl@reddit
Yes. Sometimes it's a little bit of a slap in the face of reality, especially in sunlight. But I'm a member of a couple of groups for naturally grey hair, and 100% of the time, always, women look better with their natural grey than dyed. I've never dyed my hair, so the transition is much slower than if I was growing out a color, but I also like that I don't have a line of demarcation that I have to deal with. Women also tend to do a final chop to get the last of their dyed hair out in one fell swoop. I definitely don't want to do that to my near waist-length hair.
Unlikely-Balance-669@reddit
Done and done. I am 56 and I quit coloring my hair about 10 years ago. I'd say my hair is about 50% gray now. Most of it is on the underside. The hair at my temples is completely gray. The thing that really pushed me to stop coloring my hair was the amount of time I had to sit in the chair and how quickly the gray showed anyway.

MaliciousIntentWorks@reddit
My hair went from brown to white in two weeks earlier in the year. Most likely to do with extreme stress. It freaked out my family and they are still creeped out by it. I'm56 and the hair on my head is still black, but my beard has gone mostly white, with patches of some gray. I grew my beard out during COVID and I really liked having it. However, having a white beard immediately made me look like I'm in my 70s. When I would go out to eat with my mom, waiters would think I was her husband. So I shaved my beard off out of vanity (after having it for 2 years). I've decided against growing out my beard again until I actually am the age that my white beard makes me look like.
minikin_snickasnee@reddit
I have medium/dark brown hair and am slowly getting clear/silvery hairs popping up in the mix. I call it my hair tinsel. Starting to get what I think are streaks at my temples, and my bangs are getting more silver threads.
I used to think, when I was younger, that I'd "dye till I die", but I'm too broke to afford a regular routine at a salon, and too chickenshit to do anything myself. I'd want vibrant colors, like blues and purples and greens.
I'm kind of worried, because I seem to have thinner hair now, and I don't want to be one of those older women that have patchy hair where you can totally see their scalp. But I don't have the spare funds to do anything. So I just admire the sparkles in my hair and try not to think about it too much.
elijuicyjones@reddit

There are a few women around my area with amazingly, vibrant rainbow hair but I just can't be bothered.
Hell, I recently cracked it and cut my shoulder length curls to a short-back-&-sides. Easier to maintain, highlights the greys and looks soooo much better. It gives me so much more time.

When I was 18, my hairline seemed pretty high and I kind of assumed it was going to go early.
When I saw Bruce Willis go from his David Addison and John McClane hair to his shaved look I decided that I would do the same. I told my friends that as soon as it got thin I would shave it off.
Then it still looked about the same at 30, and was still okay at 40. And Minoxodil and other things came out and I didn't go for it, I didn't want to be that vain that I couldn't just accept my hair, or lack.
Just two days ago was the day I decided it was time and I shaved it all off. I wish I had done it sooner. I feel more myself.

Ironically, i am really excited to go gray as my father's hair went gray when he was 16, and I had hoped mine would, too. So far it's only about 50% there, though.

I was born blond af, and have been getting browner every year. Now I’ve got whites in spades, and have no plans to hide it.

Mine has bern completely grey for better part of a decade.

I started going gray at 17. I colored it for decades. In my 40s, I got sick of the upkeep and let it grow out. After awhile, I got sick of waiting, so I got a pixie cut. Now I’m mostly gray. I still have thick, heavy hair and I think it didn’t change or thin out because it’s been gray for so long.

I've still only got a few grays, but I have no plan to do anything about them, ever.
Although like someone else said, I've pulled a few because they were sticking out weirdly.

I find I have to pull a number of my greys, not because they're grey, but because they're a completely different texture and they literally stick out. Once enough of them come in together I'll let them be. I don't mind going salt and pepper, since I'm not balding (unlike my brothers 😈).
