Good for them, not cowards like most keyboard warriors lol
TankerBuzz@reddit
Resorting to throwing a tantrum like a child that doesnt get their way.
cantpickaname8@reddit
If they're not cowards than they'll eat the other members of Parliament on live TV
-unknown_harlequin-@reddit
Electronic-Worker-10@reddit
What happened?
Ogediah@reddit
Natives in New Zealand do a hakka(?). Tribal dance thing. Sort of like a war cry. They were in a government session about changing an old treaty with natives and a politician started doing in and they interrupted the government session stomping, yelling, and making angry faces. Sounds somewhat normal there. Like everyone knows what it is and schools and stuff often have their own individual “dance” but to an outsider it’s a pretty wild thing to watch.
TankerBuzz@reddit
Not normal at all. They are batshit insane and should be labeled terrorists.
dragonbeorn@reddit
It's impossible to take them seriously. That video is so embarrassing. It's something you'd expect from an episode of Parks and Rec.
getoutnow2024@reddit
My favorite part about that video was how he was wearing Jordans the entire time
TankerBuzz@reddit
Sad he didnt have his cowboy hat on that day… (im being serious)
Angelo_Jett@reddit
Brother, for a moment, consider the ceremonies and traditions you find normal because you have experienced them from a young formative age, and they would appear just as silly or "embarrassing" without that normalization. It is kind of sad how homogenized cultures have become globally thanks to colonialism and denaturalization, so it isn't hard to believe that people capable of thinking from an outside perspective would find this cool and empowering.
SkirtOne8519@reddit
Maybe there is a reason these cultures were colonized so easily…
TankerBuzz@reddit
Probably because something as simple as a nail blew their minds. They were a stone age culture who didnt even have a written language or pottery skills. Imagine being handed a musket?
Worried_Lawfulness43@reddit
People in America are always whining about preserving culture, and how afraid they are of culture being erased, but then they see a group who’s actually preserved their culture, and they wish they’d assimilate.
tittysprinkles112@reddit
I can guarantee you that most Americans don't give a shit about NZ and many don't even know where it is.
yourdiabeticwalrus@reddit
i just think their gay little dance is funny, get real
crowmango69@reddit
Or, you can analize said cultures more critically now that we've been exposed to most of them through said globalisation and come to the objective realization that some practices are restarted.
2Seven3@reddit
Sticking your tongue out and flailing around like a retarded ape when you don't get what you want should be respected 100 percent
PlzDontBanMe2000@reddit
Yet all the comments on the video I saw were saying how powerful and necessary what they’re doing is, and that they’re fighting for their rights and will Not be slaves again
Grimmush@reddit
Where?! All I’ve seen was people labeling them as nutjobs.
Terran_it_up@reddit
As a New Zealander I see so many comments both for and against it from foreigners who clearly don't understand any of the issues behind it. I don't get why so many people feel the need to take a side on something they're so far removed from, it's all just virtue signalling or something
matt_mcsplat0106@reddit
Now you know how it feels to be an American
TacoMedic@reddit
He posted on the UK sub less than an hour before making the above comment lmfao.
TheBouncyFatKid@reddit
Omg gottem!
Terran_it_up@reddit
Because I'm a New Zealander living in the UK?
matt_mcsplat0106@reddit
Critical thinking isn’t a strong suit around here
BjornAltenburg@reddit
Top kek
Cynical_Tripster@reddit
I'd read something about Maoris being a very important voting block/demographic regarding some spicy issue and how they're supposedly being shat on by the gov (extent of my understanding),
But!
Doesn't the Haka go back to Maori tribal warfare and was pretty much an intimidation ritual pretty much telling the opposition 'I'm going to consume and defile your corpse'?
ForumsDwelling@reddit
Yo so what's really going on then in NZ bruv I genuinely want to know
SunJiggy@reddit
It literally just wanted equality
YoloSwag4Jesus420fgt@reddit
Typical Reddit shit
Grimmush@reddit
Or just another normal day in the HR office..
daemon-of-harrenhal@reddit
I thought it was fucking based, to be quite honest.
nuuudy@reddit
if you delve a bit deeper, you'll notice - every single occassion apparently calls for a Haka
You disagree in politics? Haka time
You get married? You guessed it, Haka time
Someone is retiring? Yeah, be ready to Haka
Your wife is divorcing you? Believe it or not - Haka time
I get pride of your ancestry. But imagine if every time something bad happens - you start randomly singing your national anthem. It would be absolutely cringe after 3rd time
but here, it's not because it's le exotic
TheShivMaster@reddit
Imagine if Mexican soccer teams forced the other team to stand and watch while they did the mariachi
Burrito_Salesman@reddit
The real Mexican tradition of chainsaw dismemberment in the soccer stadium.
the_glengarry_leads@reddit
At the local metric football stadium here there are so many Mexicans that the Mexican national team is the home team, so they go nuts for whatever stupid game ends up here, the Tegucigalpa Howler Monkeys versus the Chihuahua Taquitos or who knows what. There are frequent game stops for some kind of "social justice" thing when they call the opposing goalie the f-slur long enough. At least once they cancelled the game and moved it to another night.
I never want to be in a stadium full of them but I like the idea of unleashing them on suburban NPR listening soccer fans.
lurker_archon@reddit
I'd fucking love that actually
nuuudy@reddit
not exotic enough. I can't soy to that
It's like that meme

Fair enough that makes it cringe but that video on its own is absolutely incredible lol. Her face kills me
Honestonus@reddit
Wait are u from new Zealand
And/Or do you have video evidence of divorce haka?
nuuudy@reddit
Jesus man, that was a joke
Bots on reddit picked up a popular video of Haka and recently, Reddit's been flooded by bots reposting Haka videos during various occassions
reddit_has_fallenoff@reddit
I think you are quite cringe, to be quite honest.
I_will_bum_your_mum@reddit
They're not even the natives of the island. They arrived in 1200 and genocided the group that was already there. They're essentially colonizers who spend their time playing the victim because the next group of colonizers decided to let some of them live.

Why do white women always have to involve themselves in any possible way.
CaesarJulius91@reddit
What do you mean involve themselves? The OP is basing his comments off of this video that went viral a while ago
OliverMonster1@reddit
It's a compilation of white women awkwardly doing this thing OP is talking about.
Aguacatedeaire__@reddit
They're not doing the haka, dumbass! That HR girls video predates the one in this thred by about a year or so.
CaesarJulius91@reddit
They were the first ones to do it so you're talking gibberish, that's where the meme in the op pictures text comes from
easterner1848@reddit
There was Asians too
Solaire_of_Sunlight@reddit
A lot of Asian American women might as well be white
Tony_Khantana@reddit
People who don't adhere to their respective stereotypes are basically white.
Mintyfresh756@reddit
Most progressive comment of all time tbh.
UhOhPoopedIt@reddit
Reddit comment right here. Schrödinger's minority. "May as well be white" when it's some stupid shit like this and college admissions, "downtrodden minority" when needed. Fuck, this place sucks.
eatmynasty@reddit
Uhhhh you notice you’re on r/4chan right?
Solaire_of_Sunlight@reddit
Im not an identity politics regard, I meant that they act in the same overly cringy and corny way that white women do
JonathanQShrimpling@reddit
It's almost like you're talking about a trend that doesn't have anything to do with race

Amid the boundless sea of dreadful, cringe-inducing content, this trend proudly claims the gold medal of awfulness. Words fail me in articulating the depths of my disdain for this TikTok abomination. It is, without a doubt, the Everest of cringe—an insurmountable summit. Much like the speed of light at 99.99%, this is the absolute limit; humanity simply cannot cringe harder.

ApprehensiveBat4732@reddit
The Haka is so fucking cringey, doesn’t matter who is doing it or how big they are it’s an embarrassment to warrior culture.
NorsemanatHome@reddit
Funny how the little racists here (probably all gormless rural Americans who feel the need to involve themselves in civilised countries politics) are so threatened by a people who actually have a culture being able to express it. Is there no more appropriate time for a war dance than when ripping up an offensive bill in parliament?
2Seven3@reddit
Civilized countries countries politics = war dance in parliament LMFAOOO
Defective_Falafel@reddit
Liberals and their insane out-group bias, man... I still don't understand it.
AntiqueLynx830@reddit
In a "civilized" society I'm not sure there's supposed to be ANY place where ripping up important documents while you shriek and stomp around is acceptable behavior but ok Mr. High Society.
MessiahTroglodyte@reddit
Brother you are on the 4chan subreddit, of course it's racist
AtomicMonkeyTheFirst@reddit
I like to imagine Irish people river dancing in the UK house of commons to protest historical injustices.
acidporkbuns@reddit
OK anon won with that one 🤣 even as someone from NZ in support of the protest. Lol
MrsCrackWhore@reddit
You support racism?
feckshite@reddit
Isn’t it racist to tell the natives how their country should be governed
MrsCrackWhore@reddit
The correct term is kindness. That's why I vote against them having any say in civic society
