What is a good .22 pellet pistol?

Had an incident in our neighborhood so looking into getting a real pistol, but need a temporary solution for home/self defense. I know this isn't the same but this is where I'm leaning.
-Pellet gun (not BB) -Pistol, as real looking as possible -.22 caliber -Semi-auto? (Not even sure what that means, but want the ability to shoot quickly) -Decent FPS/force -Under $300ish
Does anyone have any recommendations? Sorry if any of what I said isn't correct - this is quite literally my first gun experience. Thanks in advance!

If you don't want to do the paper work and stuff you need for a pistol or semi auto just get yourself a cheap shotgun. Decent for home defense and no clue about your prices but even here in europe with generally higher prices there are some cheap old shotguns foe under 100 €

There are “less lethal” options that will be more effective than a pellet gun.

Lol sorry. Long story short… a few months ago someone in a white van hit our mailbox. Few weeks ago an ATV was stolen from a neighbor by someone who they caught driving suspiciously by their house a few days prior. Last night that same neighbor caught someone attempting to break into their house. And there is apparently a registered sex offender/supposed drug dealer in the area. Turns out that all could be related as it appears someone had scoped their property and figured out how to avoid all their cameras. My doorbell camera caught the supposed burglar fleeing, but it also caught that same white van that hit my mailbox driving to their property and leaving their property a few hours before hand (potentially scoping)…. turns out that the sex offender is linked to a white van, even though it’s registered to a dead person in a different area of the state. I installed cameras and a security system so that helps, but without some kind of protection inside the house I have such an uneasy feeling as I have an 8 month old infant and my wife living with me (obv), and my mother lives in the in-law. Legally obtaining a firearm is a process, so I’m looking for a quick solution in the meantime.

It’s crazy, this all came to light today. Before this we were a beautiful quiet neighborhood in a perfectly average suburb

Baseball bat and a punching bag. Take some time to practice. The first time you really hit something more substantial than a baseball with a bat it's gonna jar you a bit.

Order a can of pepper spray or several on Amazon for now "dirt cheap and extremely effective"...i recommend sabre brand and get a big ass bottle and few smaller personal carry bottles for you and your family members to carry.....and if you don't plan on carrying a gun daily and you're main concern is home defense then id recommend a 12 guage shotgun as its easier to shoot and honest way way way more effective....you can get a police issued pumpaction shotgun used from almost any gun shop for like $300.

Yeah I want to know too.

We gotta know....

A realistic looking pellet gun is a great way to get yourself shot.

Buy a used Glock for $300.
A .22 air gun won’t be able to defend you
ZealousidealKoala804@reddit (OP)
I know, this is just a temporary solution so I don’t feel completely defenseless at home

A knife would be more useful

Pepper spray, a taser, or even a sword or a bat would better choices than a pellet gun.

Especially if your attacker has any kind of real weapon.
intelw1zard@reddit
Just get a real firearm, no need for a pellet gun.
You can buy a used handgun for a few hundred bucks.

Any glock 19 clone will be under $300. Get a 9mm. You can get creative and build a budget ar15 for around $300. If only for home defense, get a maverick 88.

A pellet gun and a .22LR pistol are 2 different things. For under $400 you could pick up a keltec PMR. Shots .22 WMR in a 30 round magazine
gyoung1986@reddit
You can just buy a used 9mm for $300ish maybe less if you shop around a little.
