Re-using SSD from old system for use in a new system advice

I have an m.2 SSD from a system I built a couple years ago that has a bunch of games on it. My Internet isn't great (Australia moment) and would like to avoid needing to download them all again. I also have a bunch of softwares that I like using and was planning on keeping a folder for all installers for the software I plan to keep using on the new build. My question is, do I need to wipe the SSD and reformat it for the new build or can I just pinch it from the old mobo and put it in the new one?

If you don’t change the platform (f.e. AM4 to AM5) it most likely will work. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be good. If you change platform it could work too, but the more chance for failure there is. Also with both, errors like bluescreens and random shutdowns CAN occur. Most likely won’t but it is entirely possible. And no one can really guarantee that it won’t cause permanent issues in the long run.
I would consider it viable to just boot and briefly check if the hardware and the build is working and then I would advise to make a fresh clean install.
In general, your OS and the drivers installed with the installation are pretty tailored to your hardware. GPU switch doesn’t require a complete wipe even though I would always recommend it just to be safe and avoid future problems. CPU and Chipset switch is a whole nother level though and I would strongly advise to make a complete wipe and make a clean install, if you plan to use it as a daily driver.

I will do a fresh install just to be safe, thanks!
