Where's the turbo button?
WonderWendyTheWeirdo@reddit
Will it turn yellow over time?
istarian@reddit
Maybe, maybe not.
It depends on the type of plastic and what fire retardant chemicals they use these days.
cristobaldelicia@reddit
No, that's not true. Cigarette smoke turns everything yellow-brownish. The difference is that it is easily wiped off. I was a smoker for over 30 years, I know. If GeordieAI said something about sunlight or ultraviolet light, THEN it would depend on the plastic.
In the late 60s, about half the adult population in the US smoked. It was everywhere. My parents never smoked, but still brought out ashtrays for social events, because there would inevitably be smokers. They might be sent out to a porch or backyard, but they had to be accommodated. SMH it was a different time.
GeordieAl@reddit
Just smoke a pack of 20 fags around it on a daily basis and it will be yellow in no time!
Just like the good old days!

This computer case kinda looks like the PC-9801 series computers that almost looks like this.
SegaGuy1983@reddit
Any good services out there that could just paint PC case beige?
sprashoo@reddit
I feel like the world is ready for the return of beige.
AmINotAlpharius@reddit
Most PC cases for many years now are crappy shiny (mostly) black boxes with tons of useless annoying LEDs.
A simple stylish beige case will be welcomed by many.
ValkyroftheMall@reddit
Something like the old AT&T / NCR / IBM cases from the early 90's. Simple with vertical lines and big orange / red power switches that make a satisfying click.
BackToTheCottage@reddit
NCR made some beautiful computer cases. The orange accents on the buttons were 👌
istarian@reddit
Personally I really liked the way a green power light contrasted black and silver aesthetic of the Compaq Presario in the earlier 2000s.
cab0lt@reddit
My PS/2 Model 30 is an aesthetic, complete with matching display and keyboard. The design language permeated through most contemporary hardware, including high end Unix workstations and mainframe/minicomputer peripherals.
istarian@reddit
The overall low quality and excess of side windows are some of the most annoying thing aside from a lack of drive bays.
benryves@reddit
I thought I was quite lucky when I found a case that had three drive bays, until I installed the motherboard and found that only one of them could actually accommodate an optical drive. Even my shortest drive stuck out a couple of centimetres before bumping into the board. Fortunately I found a solution...
vintagecomputernerd@reddit
Lol
Tsao_Aubbes@reddit
Beige still dates it too much for most normal builds - it'd look crazy out of place on a modern desk with modern monitors and peripherals. Simple, white, black or some similar color would be better imo. That's why I've been using an Ag13 for close to 6 years now
MechanicalTurkish@reddit
That shiny black gets scratched to hell and looks like shit after a year. Business beige is forever, unless it turns yellow lol
AmINotAlpharius@reddit
I have a 30 years old beige APC UPS.
It is yellow now and looks like shit but probably much better than if it was black.
Enlightenment777@reddit (OP)
wussy bros need the LEDs to make them think they are cool
AmINotAlpharius@reddit
Disgusting.
jetkins@reddit
Did it ever really go out of style?
t_Lancer@reddit
with or without auto colour changing to yellow?
sprashoo@reddit
I bet lots of younger people think old computers were yellow.

sleek dazzling vinear of the 1980s

"Reject modernity embrace tradition."
Really, the desktop formfactor would do a lot of rigs better than the tower. Monitors are so light now that they could easily sit on a case like this.
Coupe368@reddit
I still have my beige computer from 1995, I knew the styling would come back around. lol
SaraTheWeird@reddit
i want a modern version of the wedge more tbh
joeljaeggli@reddit
Atx was standardized around 1996. There are quite a lot standarish chassis out there that can accommodate modern components without wild compromises so long as you can keep the thermal envelope manageable. E.g. a 45w cpu on matx mainboard with an sfx power supply and a bracket is going to fit in an enormous number of chassis that are out there.
Klaitu@reddit
Man, they need to make this ASAP, it's not on their website yet
a_mandrill@reddit
I thought they were quite brave to make a desktop form factor when they could have just made a beige tower.
mi__to__@reddit
Great! Are those 5.25" bays usable?
obadiaowl@reddit
Im a retro dealer and sell so many old cases for builds love the creativity of this hobby (even macplus fish tanks)
AdministrativeMap9@reddit
Need it.. and I honestly wish this type of thing would make a comeback, even if it was in the "modern" black and white colors. I'm bored and frustrated with how every chassis is a glorified fishbowl for rgb rainbow puke lighting or fancy looking coolers. Having a window is fine and all but let's have functional no frills chassis back (and yes that does include having the 5.25 bays)
sputwiler@reddit
Would love to swap the fake floppy faceplates for a real 5.25" and 3.5", even if I wind up putting an optical drive and a card reader in them. I just don't like flip-down faceplates and the fact that the floppy facade is obviously about form not function. Part of why I love old case designs is how they were the opposite.
rayui@reddit
100% agreed.
istarian@reddit
What would be neat if they shipped it with a couple different face plates to suit different more modern options.
E.g.
If the recessed area on the dummy 5.25" floppy was centered and the insertion slot enlarged a little then you could put a slot load optical drive in there.
cerreur@reddit
I fucking need it
shadowboxer777@reddit
I am still partial to the Commodore PC one case, if somebody made that I would totally buy it. Also the baby, a case that was ubiquitous for all 286 systems, yummy.
RandomPhaseNoise@reddit
Great to see this retro style. I would prefer if the floppy blanks wouldn't resemble to a dummy drive, just plain or
topinanbour-rex@reddit
God, no fucking rgb lights flashing through the room, and it is beige. I feel like in a Lonely Island's song.
meshreplacer@reddit
I remember back when building computers wishing there was something other than the standard beige case. This was in the 386 days when you could get fancy and buy a case with a 16/33Mhz LED with the red Turbo button. Funny to see a new case out that looks like the cases back then.
thunderbird32@reddit
I have a mighty need! I hope these come to the US.
spocks_tears03@reddit
Would buy.
aspie_electrician@reddit
I have an old AT case under my workbench. That machine is a work in progress as it's motherboard died, and it needs a replacement.
BoltLayman@reddit
:-) I have both cheap classic composition black mATX case with a relatively big Ф\~3cm power bitten with a blue LED inside. And a beige with some black bezel accents front panel early 2000s ATX case.
Voyager-@reddit
Need a turbo button and MHz display

My main PC is in a Silverstone GD09 HTPC case and I would switch to this in a heartbeat.
CrownVetti@reddit
I would buy that for my gaming computer I’m a heart beat
