Let's just keep the poison as far away from the eating utensils as possible. And unless you exclusively drink with a straw, yeah some part of your mouth is going to touch the outside of the glass.
Eh, lead has to be in dust form to cause harm and even that would need to occur over time. I'm suppose you could get a slight exposure to it as the paint wore down on these glasses, but you were much more likely to be exposed to lead at your house or school in the 70s & early 80s.
It's also worth noting that the paint is obviously on the outside of the glass, and unless you're scratching the paint off and then ingesting it, its not really all that dangerous.

we had the pizza hut collection... 😂

I still have the one on the left. My other ones fell out of the cabinet and broke in an earthquake in '87.

A quake
HokeyPokeyGuy@reddit
I think The Empire Strikes Back collection was the best but these are so cool too.
HillbillyEEOLawyer@reddit
I got Smurf glasses from somewhere in the 70s.
Ralph--Hinkley@reddit (OP)
Had those, too. Even the Shrek glasses from tweinty years ago that were also painted with lead, so I had to toss those.

Reddit: Where saying lead paint is bad for you gets downvoted. (Explains a lot actually)
Ralph--Hinkley@reddit (OP)
Not a surprise.
Self-Comprehensive@reddit
I once got fifty downvotes for saying pointing a gun at your own face is a bad idea. Nothing surprises me here anymore.
Non-Intelligent_Tea@reddit
Are you in the habit of licking the outside of your novelty glasses? Lead is safe as long as you're not ingesting it.

Tea generally isn't intelligent. I am.
The design of the glasses isn't on the top of it. It's right their in the picture.

Thinking about lead paint makes me feel better about how my mother accidentally broke all my Star Wars glasses one by one over several years.

So my mother is not off the hook!
blackpony04@reddit
It depends. How many glasses did that woman break over the years? Several times randomly, or just those Star Wars glasses? suspicious
East-Pound9884@reddit
Oops, there goes another one. So, so sorry 😂

Not with lead paint.

Outlawed In the 60s,.right?
Just in time for my parents to have full doses by the time they graduated high school.
And it showed.
