Any expat English teachers in Spain?

I am strongly considering moving to Spain, and as I am currently a teacher the natural shift seems to be to teach English as a career there. Anybody out there have experience with this, advice? Thanks in advance

Are you an EU citizen?

No, USA.

Then how are you going to legally live in Spain?

I’m a bit thrown by the question… I’ll apply for a visa and eventually a resident permit… Is there a piece of knowledge I’m missing?

How are you going to apply for a visa without a job offer? Do you know of an employer willing to go through the paperwork and cost of procuring a work visa, and willing to prove that no one in the EEA can do the job?

I’m still researching things, that’s why I posted. Thank you 👍

Not an expat but married to a French/Spanish citizen and spend many summers in Spain. Teacher pay is horrible in Spain. It’s the reason we don’t live there now. It’s even lower than France. Our friends who are certified public school teachers from Madrid currently live in Scotland, Chicago, Berlin, and Brussels. Salaries generally in Spain are low which is why the entire world doesn’t move there.
That said, they do have a program for English teachers to work in their schools you could investigate. France has something similar too.

This is the program: https://www.educacionfpydeportes.gob.es/eeuu/convocatorias-programas/convocatorias-eeuu/nalcap.html

You'd need local certification and fluency in Spanish to teach in local public schools.
International schools are an option, but they're very competitive is attractive countries.
