Can you help me upgrade my PC?

Hi all! I'm a rookie PC builder. I built my first computer back in 2020, and I thought this would be a good time to upgrade it, since Xmas is right around the corner and I've got some money to spare.
I mostly wanted to upgrade my CPU and GPU, but I don't think I know enough to make an informed decision. I want a potent enough build to play on High/Ultra settings on 1080p on newer games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy and Jedi Survivor. Don't care about ray tracing or any of that.
My current PC: - i5 8400 - RTX 2060 (I thing it's 6GB VRAM) - Gigabyte Z390 Gaming SLI motherboard - 16GB RAM - 650W power supply (don't remember specifics)
What do you guys think would be a noticeable upgrade? I wanted to get an RTX 4070 Super, but some website I saw recommended the RX 7900XT.
Thanks so much for your help!

If you don't care about ray tracing the 7900XT is the superior GPU, full stop. The i5-8400 will for sure be the weak link in any combination involving a 7900XT but it'll still be a much better experience compared to the RTX 2060.
Get the specifics of that power supply though. An older midrange 650W unit will probably get pushed over by a 7900XT. What's the exact model number?

Not a 100% sure but after checking my notes I think it's the 2018 Corsair RM650X 80+ gold.
I've got a budget ranging from 1250-1500€, what do you think?

1500 euros is well within reach of a full system upgrade:

Dude that is so useful, thank you so much! How important do you think it is to go from 16GB RAM to 32GB?
VoraciousGorak@reddit
Quite important. DDR5's density means that 8GB DIMMs have half the bus width of larger DIMMs; plus if you're planning on keeping this PC for a few years, there are already scattered games that prefer to run in more than 16GB RAM.

On 1080p GPUs tend to produce crazy high frames, and games that you wanna play are CPU demanding titles. Hogwarts, Cyberpunk, Star Wars all are really hard on CPU, regardless of resolution. Therefore I think you should go for 7800X3D or 9800X3D. You could get away with something like 7700X if you were to game on 1440p or 4K but you'll be CPU limited on 1080p on many titles.

What is your budget
MikeTheDuck_54@reddit (OP)
I can go up to 1250-1500€ probably, I'd like to keep it as inexpensive as possible

The other person gave a great build for you, Id honestly suggest about the same thing

I would upgrade that CPU before anything else. If you still have budget left the you would benefit from an upgraded GPU.
