is this a real minigun? man holding it is from CDG cartel. I thought these were super heavy.

Turns out people can in fact hold heavy things.
dubious455H013@reddit
This one in fact weights as much as 10 moving boxes
RetroCaterpillar03@reddit
What is that in unlaidened swallows?
ButtstufferMan@reddit
But is totally safe because of no shoulder thing that goes up.
Remarkable-Opening69@reddit
Temu sell switches for this? 6000 rounds a minute is kinda sub par.
Idrawconclusions@reddit
How many pigeons is that equal to?

The lightweight version is only 41 pounds. Standard model is still only 86.

Salsalito_Turkey@reddit
They're too heavy to hold and fire like Jesse Ventura, not too heavy to hold in general.
beaureeves352@reddit
He did have a pretty beefy sling
Stairmaker@reddit
There is actually some mad lads out there with miniguns and backpack ammo/battery backpacks.
There is no way to do sustained fire. But you can fire bursts. Not really hitting anything. But it looks cool.
TheOneTheOnlyC@reddit
There’s a video of Groningen shooting one from the hip. Not sure if he was shooting movie blanks or not though
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Blanks, awesome clip though.
TheOneTheOnlyC@reddit
It’s very fitting for him. Dudes just here for the party
ChevTecGroup@reddit
It's not the weight, it's the 3-400lbs of recoil
talon04@reddit
Try again here's James Cameron shooting the minigun in T2.
ChevTecGroup@reddit
Try again, those are blanks
talon04@reddit
I know. But if that man can handle the gun on blanks its entirely plausible someone like a strongman could control the gun.
ChevTecGroup@reddit

Go to the 14:00 mark. That's the only video you'll ever see of a guy hip shooting a minigun with full power ammo. It's wildly dangerous. Mat's a pretty strong guy and it literally slid him backwards in the dirt.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Based on the second burst I think he's just stumbling backwards after losing his footing, not that it isn't a bad idea.
alexmikli@reddit
I'm so happy that someone out there lived the dream
annonimity2@reddit
The battle rifle fell out of style because it was uncontrollable in full auto, this thing could probably pick you up and throw you with enough ammo.
fuzzycaterpillar123@reddit
So instead of rocket jumping, which is dangerous, we should put mini guns on our arms … got it!
CCPCanuck@reddit
Don’t skip leg day
TacTurtle@reddit
So we need a fat guy or sumo to carry it?
BandPDG@reddit
??? The MK44/M134 fires 7.62 NATO... one round at a time - which generates less than 20 Ft-Lbs of recoil in most firearms. Given the weight of these guns, that felt recoil will be significantly less. Once overcoming the initial recoil, this would be very manageable for an average shooter - assuming they had the gucci suspension JV was using to balance and aim the weapon. I say NBD.
ChevTecGroup@reddit
You'd be wrong. I've seen people try it. And I took the 300pb number straight from a military technical document
AngriestManinWestTX@reddit
IIRC the minigun they used in Predator and T2 were also limited to 1200 RPM or so. Maybe that had an influence too.
ChevTecGroup@reddit
They were shooting blanks. But yeah maybe
davytoogravy@reddit
Its firing like 60 rounds a second lol
talon04@reddit
I mean theres video of James Cameron shooting one while holding it.
expertninja@reddit
Not for Jesse Ventura though. He could do it, I saw it in a documentary once.

SquareRelationship27@reddit
How about like Arnold? Can I hold it like he did in Terminator 2?
BandPDG@reddit
The gun was mounted on a load bearing suspension. While nowhere near something we would actually field...in theory, it could be done with someone of the right build and disposition....

We arm one cartel (illegally) to take out another. They do or they don’t but they don’t return the weapons when they win or if they lose just goes to the other side.
As someone once said….why do you think a mil-spec hammer costs $800? Something has to fund all the shady deals our government is doing to us and the rest of the world.

They are like 65lbs for the steel version, 42-44lbs for the ones with a titanium rotor and housing.
ILikestoshare@reddit
Holy crap. So that dumb politician was actually right?!
EsotericAbstractIdea@reddit
ar-15, m134, same thing
Feeling-Antelope4857@reddit
Look at the vein popping on his hand dude
cmhbob@reddit
Looks like an M134 which specs out at 85 pounds. The receiver of the M2HB weighs about 60 pounds and while I didn't want to do it long, I could hold it for a few minutes.
That cradle position is pretty easy to hold something heavy in.
alexmikli@reddit
The lightest one, thex XM214, is about 22 pounds. Not sure if any still exist though.
sootfactory335d@reddit
I just googled m134 weight and seems there is a heavy varient thought I've cleaned, handled, shot, carried, loaded MANY of these guns and never seem to have come across this beast of a 134 lol. Though I guess they exist so I suppose I'll eat crow.
sootfactory335d@reddit
I'll tell you right now an m134 doesn't weight 85 pounds unless that's with ammo can included. 40 pounds maybe!
2017hayden@reddit
I’ve held more than I’m able to lift on my own in a position like that for a fairly considerable amount of time. You’re absolutely right that’s a pretty easy position to hold something in.
Luffewaffle@reddit
I can carry a whole ass maxim machine gun at a 5’10 130 pound guy lmao
PandorasFlame1@reddit
The M134 lightweight mod weighs 41lbs, otherwise it weighs about 85lbs. Unloaded. No battery.
Also that there is probably a Garwood Industries minigun. Illegally sold to the cartels in the mid 2010s until he was raided in 2017 by the feds.
smedr001@reddit
They aren't super heavy, you just can't shoot them freehand.
Nomad_StL@reddit
Can't be much heavier than an AR-15, those things weigh as much 10 boxes you might be moving.
SnooCheesecakes2465@reddit
Add an external power supply and 4k rounds and its no longer man portable
meegsmooth@reddit
I'm sure they aren't that heavy. Unless you are built like a starving Ethiopian child or something.
Ok_Mud_8998@reddit
What's heavy on a mini gun is the ammo. Carrying a meaningful supply for an m134, for example.
RockSteady65@reddit
The whole nine yards right?
bearlysane@reddit
Well, and the recoil is heavy, too.
Double_Minimum@reddit
The recoil is probably not that bad given the weight and a 4000 round/min rate. Especially if you are holding that ammo (600 rounds would make you a 400lb setup easy. Plus you just spray these things anyway, and for actual human use, it would be slowed down to like 1500 rds/min
bearlysane@reddit
I’m mostly going off the videos where they shoot one.
Double_Minimum@reddit
Yea, dude looks like he is doing it for first time. More muscles and a different stance. In the end the extra rounds don’t really add up to greater recoil like you think, and this gun has spinning momentum and weighs way more than most 5.56 rifles.
fjzappa@reddit
Yeah ok, but it would be difficult to fire it from that position, what with the spinning barrels and such.
Mountain_Man_88@reddit
This isn't it, but there's also the prototype XM556 microgun, a 5.56 minigun that weighs like 20 something pounds.
Due_Most9445@reddit
Could have sworn I saw a 22lr variant at some point somewhere.
Could have been a fever dream though since the amount of jams must be insane with it
Mountain_Man_88@reddit
My dream is a .22 microgun that feeds from a hopper. Just toss a brick of junk .22 in there. Hopper system somehow aligns and feeds each cartridge. Any misfires just get ejected.
Due_Most9445@reddit
So what you're saying is a hopper fed to a shaker table/conveyor that stands the cartridges facing down on their rims on a rail guide to a rotating gear that picks the cartridge off the rail and deposits it onto a table which then chambers, fires, and kicks the round out?

Something like this almost
LtDrinksAlot@reddit
https://youtu.be/5yCyOZ1N_8I?si=C9zaQ3ZXZdo073E7
cool thing about miniguns is any misfires just get ejected out and you keep going.
outkast767@reddit
M61a81 Gatling gun housing, rotor and transfer unit weight 200. Each barrel is is 54 pounds. And that shoots 20mm realistically you could mount that in the back of a hilux without issue.
Christophe12591@reddit
What shoots 20mm? Lmao we’re talking about the gun in the picture which is .308 💀
Cliffinati@reddit
That's for the 20mm the Minigun is in .308
PepperJack386@reddit
Add a power supply and a useful amount of ammo for something that can do 3000 rpm and you have your answer.
