I figured this is the best place to ask - what is that soldier using?

It looks like a G11. However, there is no way in hell that that is a G11.
MentalAlternative8@reddit
Same thinking. Looks like a fuckin gun out of Wolfenstein. What the hell is the Not™ G11?
King_Burnside@reddit
Anti-drone jammer with a tight beam emitter. Rifle optics let you stay on target.
LeKerl1987@reddit
There is a fun bit of history. After the iron curtain fell the German authorities found papers about backdoor deals of HK with the GDR. They wanted to sell their certified commie killer to the commies!
martellus@reddit
Do you have a source on that?
LeKerl1987@reddit
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch#DDR
>Notes discovered in 1992 by an officer of the GDRMinistry for State Security (MfS) revealed that the GDR had maintained covert contacts with HK representatives for years and had purchased HK weapons. According to this, the MfS offered H&K in 1989 to settle HK deliveries worth over 16 million marks with blanks. Among other things, the MfS also procured the G11, which was rejected by the Bundeswehr, and had it demonstrated to GDR armaments companies.^([111]) The foreign currency procurer Alexander Schalck-Golodkowski is said to have legally imported HK weapons supplied to Austria into the GDR in 1983. In 1988, he is said to have purchased 50 MP5 cases for special units of the MfS. The GDR imported weapons, target projectors, grenades and special ammunition from H&K via third countries. According to H&K, only 39 machine tools were delivered to the GDR. In 1991, an investigation was opened against H&K because of these GDR contacts; the company headquarters were not searched until August 1992.^([112])

imnakedwithmykids@reddit
This is not surprising btw, same guys who sold mp7s to the combine.
IlluminatedPickle@reddit
Heh, they got caught after the British bought H&K.
I_Automate@reddit
Damn British intelligence services, always getting in tbe way of a good Germanic scheme
Jack_547@reddit
They actually did get some sales to select groups in the DDR, I know the Diensteinheit IX police unit purchased MP5s and a HK33 variant known as the HK33SG/1.
stronghammr113@reddit
God, if i could send one image back in time to 1960s H&K.
it might have stopped the Reunification of Germany, but the G11 would have been REAL
I_Automate@reddit
Turn the cold war into the lukewarm war just to get the G11 into the hands of West German troops (and maybe even the rest of NATO)
So what if the Fulfa Gap is now uninhabitable for a century or two. Worth it.
Propoganda_bot@reddit
I had to double take, like theoretically if they got a hold of it there would be no ammunition available right? Or did they hoard all the kraut space magic
Donatter@reddit
It would fuckin incredible if they not only got issued g11’s, but got ammo in useable amounts, or somehow started producing new rounds for it
But unfortunately, it’s just a anti drone gun that coincidentally looks like the g11
Worth-Sorry@reddit
So the g11 went from a caseless ammo gun to a anti-drone gun... The g-11 will soon turn into the first railgun
DJmachine101@reddit
And will be a skin in the next halo game. 💀
Red_Mammoth@reddit
I mean the UNSC ships already look like G-11s
Donatter@reddit
One can hope
South_Ad7675@reddit
It appears they hoarded kraut space magic
202Esaias@reddit
It SERIOUSLY looks like the HK.... And with Ukrainian ingenuity, I'm sure and they'd be able to DIY the caseless ammo somehow
BobbyWasabiMk2@reddit
Whichever wingnut in here believes that could even ever so slightly possibly be a G11 also probably rode the short bus as a kid
OnkelMickwald@reddit
Ain't no way...
hcpookie@reddit
Not a G11. That appears to be an anti-drone "weapon".
acoolrocket@reddit
Damn the Stormender from MWIII isn't fictional then.
PaladinLab@reddit
Crazy seeing what these guys are carrying all next to each other
estolad@reddit
i continuously get a kick out of photos of papuan guerillas for this reason. one guy has a pristine cherry M4 or aug or something with all the fixins that he probably took off some special forces guy he ambushed, next to him is a guy with a grease gun that probably hasn't been cleaned since 1945, and next to him is a guy with a bow and arrow
Independent-Soggy@reddit
It looks exacty like a G11 but they barely made any so he shouldn't have a G11 if that actually is a G11 then thats crazy
TheMightyMeatus420@reddit
G11, my beloved.
Dr_RedEyez69@reddit
Definitely not one of those
sargent43@reddit
That looks like a G11, but I can't see logisticly how it could be a G11 lol.
P-Potatovich@reddit
How practical would this be? I assume not really practical. Like you carry additional weight and you have to be able to switch from your main ak or something to this goofy rectangle really fast when the drone arrives, and the chances of hitting are probably low. What do y’all think is the most practical way to repel pr destroy a drone that is flying at you? Call me stupid, but imo, the most practical thing I can think of is a 12 gauge single shot pistol. It’s lights, easy to carry with you, easy to hide, and you basically let the drone fly relatively close to you and then pull the pistol out and try to hit the drone up close? In case the pellets don’t detonate the drone’s explosives, and actually hit the motors and disable the drone. In that case the only thing that will hurt is your wrist, instead of 20+ shrapnel wounds and a torn off leg. Carrying an anti drone weapon with you or a full size shotgun would definitely be a huge pain in the ass, while carrying a small pistol that might prove useful will def be easier. I wanna hear y’all’s thoughts
randompantsfoto@reddit
It’s not a projectile weapon; it’s an electronic jammer that causes the drone to lose contact with the operator or drop to the ground.
Gear like this is the reason the UAF are now fielding drones with AI tech that will continue to direct a drone to home in on a target even if the signal is lost as it approaches.
apophis-pegasus@reddit
Some exec at HK just looked at this and had a mini heart attack.
StonewallSoyah@reddit
There's no way that's a G11.... It can't be
Return2_Harmony@reddit
It’s totally not a G11 but it did make me go wide eyed before doing a double take lol
Ghoulmas@reddit
Agree with everyone it is an anti-drone device and not a h&k g11. That said, it bears a superficial resemblance to another cancelled H&K product, the CAWS shotgun.
RubberPny@reddit
Drone killer/jammer. Though it does look like a G11 though.
getoffmypangolyn@reddit
Wait, this isn’t a video game screenshot?
Marsupialize@reddit
Drone gun
Top_Buy_6340@reddit
Anti-Drone “Gun”
Right-Radiance@reddit
Shenzen Anti Drone gun it would appear.
MrDeacle@reddit
For a second I thought I was looking at a Nerf Longshot CS-6 painted green, barrel extension removed, as is very commonly seen in cheap flicks.
But I agree that it's probably an anti-drone weapon.
Poolyeti91@reddit
Stinton STN-T1000-8 drone drone jammer gun with an optic on it

DoubleDipCrunch@reddit
boy that ai is gonna be stupid.
HerrGronbar@reddit
Looks like G11 but how the fuck he got that, and where the fuck he got ammo for that?
oG-Purple@reddit
Electronic warfare against drones
Testabronce@reddit
Its an anti drone gun that looks extremely similar to the german G11.
You had me worried for a second
myx-@reddit
Drone jammer that happens to look like a G11
ActivX11@reddit
I saw this image and my first response was 'Kraut space magic'..I didn't remember the name of the gun though
Lowenley@reddit
G11, it’s not tho, it’s a drone jammer
sceligator@reddit
That can't be what I think it is. Right?
WXHIII@reddit
Looks like a g11 but I wouldn't believe in a millions years that it is one. Probably some anti drone tool
macan45@reddit
Its not a G11 unless they robbed a German museum somehow. Its probably some sort of anti drone rifle/jammer, those look pretty wild
NewVeniceRepublic@reddit
i'm probably wrong, but it looks like a g11 to me somehow
The_Federalist_Zebra@reddit
The germans will send their G11’s everywhere except the US
SebWeg@reddit
The BAAINBw in Koblenz still has a room full of them afaik but I doubt they will ever leave this room. Could be some sort of anti drone device that was „inspired“ by its design.
Swissgrenadier@reddit
A chinese anti-drone gun, a portable directional radio jammer. Although I can't seem to find the actual model name, you can find it if you google something like civillian uav jammer.
random_username_idk@reddit
Looks like some sort of drone jammer "gun"
Vyse_Ohm@reddit (OP)
Posted from phone and it just decided to not post the body...
It looks like a g11 to me as well, but in the arms of Russian soldiers?
This is where i saw it, perhaps the video helps:
