XFX gpu is larger then product page shows

I order a XFX 7800 XT Merc, thinking it will fit into my Kolink Observatory Lite Mesh, whitch supposed to be able to fit 335mm gpu, and the XFX gpu supposed to be 326mm, after being unable to but it in, ans takimg mesures, it shows the gpu is actually 335mm on the longer side, plus there is also the io shield extra.

Is this a skill issue on my part, or XFX show the length wrong.

Had the same problem with colink citadel Mesh and Rx 6800, I had to put the gpu in at An angle then make it straight when it was inside the case because the case is smaller at the edge than inside
Reggitor360@reddit
Im pretty sure XFX says that the GPU is 34cm long
Yeah they do.
CARD DIMENSIONS (CM)
32.6 x12.6 x5.8
LongjumpingTown7919@reddit
edit: Yeah they don't
slapshots1515@reddit
Yep, which OP said. Except he said the real measurement was 33.5cm instead of the 32.6 listed
DeathByChainsaw@reddit
You posted 32.6cm which is 326mm. OP stated that is incorrect.
TheIgnacz@reddit (OP)
Yes. At the end of the gpu, there is an angle, and i measure 326mm on the shorter side, but 335mm on the longer side (where the fans are)
Bobert25467@reddit
My guess is whoever measured the GPU measured the short side and sent that to the marketing department.
jolliskus@reddit
Yeah, I wonder how common it is that the manufacturers website is wrong. TechPowerUp review has it also at 340mm. So they agree with your data and XFX is wrong.
But thanks for giving a new thing to worry about for the future, a year ago I also bought a XFX GPU but luckily it matched the manufacturer specs and fit with not even 1mm of clearance.
BillionaireBear@reddit
Just echoing your point, TechPowerUp is the goat for GPU dimensions
TheIgnacz@reddit (OP)
I guess in the future, i will have to check other sources as well.

It's common practice in building a PC to add at least 5cm (50 mm) to your GPU calculation not only because a GPU might be longer than advertised, but also because cases don't account for the width of the front fans when stating the max length of GPUs possible. and if you want an AIO you need to add additional 10 cm for the width of the radiator.
kikimaru024@reddit
Fans are 25 mm (and there are 15 / 30 mm models, too).
And most radiators are 27-28mm so you should be calculating +53.
Although ideally, you should be installing a radiator in the top so that it doesn't interfere with GPU cooling.
mostcool@reddit
Radiators can be set as intakes when front installed, and you need to take into account for both the GPU and Fans being larger than you thought, better have little extra than being short on space, replacing parts because of space is neither cheap nor fun when building a pc.
MarxistMan13@reddit
Can being the keyword. Ideally your radiators will be exhaust so you're not cooling your other components with air heated by your CPU.

That's why when I was running in SFF cases I always googled and made sure I found actual posts of people using the exact same card before I bought anything.
You might need to get a new case if you don't want to deshroud the brand new 7800XT.
Wolfgung@reddit
Nah, just take the Dremel to the case and post to r/tech supportmagiver so we can have a sensible chuckle
pinkflarp@reddit
Good info. I usually use pcpartpicker as gospel
ItsThanosNotThenos@reddit
Both. I was able to put the XFX Radeon™ RX 7900 GRE "Card Dimension (cm) 33.5 x 13 x 5.2" into my Meshify C which also has "Max GPU length" listed as 335 mm.
You might still be able to fit it in.
AltruiSisu@reddit
Then product page shows what?
:-P

Dremel time
Gouca@reddit
It's not larger. There are 4 different XFX RX7800XTs as seen on https://www.xfxforce.com/gpu/amd-radeon-rx-7000
Yours is likely the one marked as 33.5 cm long: https://www.xfxforce.com/gpu/amd-radeon-rx-7000
Morkai@reddit
Except the "Qick 319" model does not have the silver edging around the shroud like in OPs picture. The "Merc 319" model does.
cosine83@reddit
There's only one "Merc" 7800XT with that shroud color from the OP and the site does indeed list the dimensions wrong if you include the shroud dimensions. I have the same card.

Looks like the Merc 319 (from Best Buy?), definitely a longboi and XFX's site does list the wrong length for the shroud side and only includes the PCB length dimensions. Ran into the same issue when building in my Fractal Ridge recently. Good thing is that it's 6 screws (2x under each fan) to deshroud the top (backplate side is optional) and pull the single CRJ connector to the board then slap some bigger/quieter fans w/ a CRJ adapter on there for better, quieter cooling experience.
