That color tho šš
Happy-Organization99@reddit
I really wanted to love the green as I'm ordering a CT4V Blackwing next month. Saw it in person and was not a fan š
Instead of green and bronze wheels decided to go with red/bronze.
sire_blumpkin@reddit
Saw typhoon green in person too and agree itās kinda odd looking. More teal than a deep green. Super disappointed.
SSLByron@reddit
It works better on the 5. The 4 looks better in red/orange.
Mecaneecall_Enjunear@reddit
We desperately need more green cars.
aprtur@reddit
Agreed - and think Lexus is massively screwing up by not offering the RC or IS in Nori Green.
aquariuminspace@reddit
Agreed. Used to not be a fan but something like Eruption Green is just perfection with bronze wheels. Make more purple cars too!
user16430@reddit
That Toyota Sienna green is great.
C-C-X-V-I@reddit
I want to do my blazer in that color
Mecaneecall_Enjunear@reddit
I know exactly which one youāre talking about and yes.
inter_mittent@reddit
I like the teal on the Ioniq 5. It seems to shift between greenish and gray depending on the light.
Kavani18@reddit
Subaruās green is gorgeous. My momma has a 2024 Ascent and she got the Onyx limited in green with the bronze wheels. Itās a gorgeous vehicle and I want that color on all vehicles
Threewisemonkey@reddit
I just painted mine from champagne gold to forest green. Green on palomino leather is perfect.
IStillLikeBeers@reddit
Thankfully we have been trending toward more green, but I still am disappointed when a car I am interested in doesn't offer green.

That green with the bronze wheels will look so good.
ArcticBP@reddit
Even in the tiny thumbnail it looks amazing
Uptons_BJs@reddit
On one hand, it is very expensive package for what it provides - $9000 for a larger anti-roll bar, stiffer subframe bushings, revised shock mounts, and stiffer springs alongside recalibration of the power steering, limited slip differential, and magneride is a bit pricy.
But on the other hand, this is a super niche product for a car that sold 2100 units last year. The take rate is miniscule, and they have to amortize the R&D costs.
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
How is that expensive? $9000 isn't bad at all given it's the best handling and fastest track sedan ever put into mass production. It's targeted to be the fastest 4/5 door at VIR which would mean it could be able to about match the Jaguar XE Project 8 at the ring. M5, E63, RS6, Panamera, XE Project 8, etc all cost the same or more. It's a bargain of the century to be honest. No other sedan offers a supercharged V8, one of the best manual transmissions put into a sedan, and one of the best suspensions setups ever created and is licensed by Ferrari, etc.
Normal Blackwing is still one of the fastest track capable sedans ever made. You don't need The precision package at all. It's like a C63 vs C63S or M3 vs M3 comp. For the most part they are 98% the same car. The precision package is for those who want to spend more money. 9K plus another 9K for the carbon ceramics is a bargain since nothing comes even remotely close to what this car offers.Ā
All its competitors are shitty sounding V8s with blatantly fake interior engine noise, all have AWD, all are automatic transmissions, most of them have terrible steering feel, and every single competitor has suspension setups that are absurdly stiff to post good numbers at the compromise of ride quality. At that point I'd rather just drive a Model S Plaid with some fake engine playing through the speakers š
Threewisemonkey@reddit
Not to mention on the collector market the Precision cars will absolutely carry a hefty premium, as they have on every muscle car in history
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
Yup exactly long term you'll get that money back. Again people buying these cars are making a ton of money. 9K is chump change. Especially because some companies will charge you 9K for some damn paint haha.
lostfate2005@reddit
Saying 9k is chump change is a bad way to think.
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
It is though. You get a lot of your money back when you go to resell. Camaro with the 1LE package hold better value. Heck you own a 911 and know how the sports crono, carbon ceramics, etc help resale value. Their is a reason why some 911 buyers get those carbon ceramic brakes, remove them to run normal brakes, and then put back the carbon ceramics to maximize resale value. It's extremely obvious this is an instant future classic. In 10-20 years those cars with the precision package will be highly sought after. Manual, RWD, Supercharged V8, and the best handling sedan ever made? Not many are being made. Hell yeah get the precision package. You're not gonna lose money long term. It really is chump change when you do the math.
Think about the 2nd Gen CTS manuals. Insane used pricing. If you have a wagon you hit the jackpot. If you bought one new and kept low miles, you already made your money back considering they costed 65-70K brand new and are worth close to 6 figures for clean examples. And used prices are NOT falling down because these are reliable performance cars. Not the German stuff. German equivalent are worth 1/3-1/2 of the price.
Also Cadillac did some research on their buyer base and the average buyer has a household income approaching 200K. People have been paying expensive packages on German cars for years and no one bats any eye. Not sure why it's a big deal for Cadillac to offer such a package because it really is chump change for someone who wants it either for resale value or if they actually plan to track the car.Ā
lostfate2005@reddit
If you took that 9k as chump change and invested it in 20 years youād come out far better than 9k spent on a car.
If it was āchump changeā why would the owners with carbon brakes go through the hassle for a higher resale? So they can get that āchump changeā back I assume
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
Obviously investing is more likely to give much better returns. But also their is always a chance you lose the money if a company goes bankrupt or something.
Idk why you're so butthurt and taking everything literally lol. You must be an extremely depressing person to be around. It's definitely chump change for the rich people buying these. They won't be happy if they lost the 9k or whatever but even if they did it's not affecting their life in any significant manner. They still got hundreds of thousands if not millions saved up. 9K isn't even 1% of what these people are making a year on salary alone, let alone any other investments they have.
lostfate2005@reddit
Iām not butthurt lol Iām just responding to your post. Not everything is antagonistic
I am a ārich personā I have tens of millions but I donāt act like 9k is chump change. Maybe you want to learn something and are willing to listen
Main_Hornet8676@reddit
It's actually $18,000 because you're forced to option it with carbon ceramic brakes.Ā
Kinda annoying but once you're financially stable enough to drop six figures on a track toy, a measly 9k extra doesn't make much difference.
hopfield@reddit
Itās not a track toy. That term is supposed to refer to dedicated track cars that you donāt daily, like a Miata with a roll cage or something. This is a luxury car thatās also track capable, itās trying to be an all-in-one.Ā
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
Just like the Z07 package on the C8 Z06. Its a fair deal since that's what Porsche would charge. Plus the standard suspension and handling and performance numbers are still world class for the Z06 and Blackwing products. You absolutely don't need the Z07 or the precision package to run circles around the BMW, Porsche, Benz, and Audi competitors.Ā
BTTWchungus@reddit
You can probably recoup that money by reselling those brakes and putting regular pads/rotors
narwhal_breeder@reddit
The CCB cars have different shock programming with the lower unsprung weight, the calipers are different as well. Not easy to swap.
BahnMe@reddit
I think there are also specific suspension parts like steering knuckles and toe links.
imped4now@reddit
Well yeah...that was stated in the linked article.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
In reality though, it's an $18,000 package, as you're forced to get CC brakes.
randeus@reddit
I donāt know, deep diving into modding all that into a normal CT5-V Blacking, that price might make some sense.
BigFootEnergy@reddit
The Porsche method
just_dave@reddit
I really, really want one of these.Ā
Why do I have to make responsible decisions for my family?Ā
RyanOfTheVille@reddit
The responsible decision is obviously to get this because it has 4-doors
thrice_already_today@reddit
This is what I've been telling myself. I should get one BECAUSE it is a family sedan š
just_dave@reddit
I'll broach the subject with the wife this evening.Ā
ZannX@reddit
Can we do a wellness check on my man here?
just_dave@reddit
I'm alive. Didn't get a chance to ask her, as our son is sick. Pediatrician appointment tomorrow, and I'm hoping the prescription is a manual supercharged V8 luxury sport sedan...Ā
peanutbuttahcups@reddit
"I've got a fevah..."
spetstnelis@reddit
A CT5 V BW will get you to the hospital quicker than most other ways
just_dave@reddit
That's going straight into the "Pro" column.Ā
XCCO@reddit
Ask forgiveness, not permission.
Powerful-Ad3259@reddit
Yup, two car seats in the back, enough trunk space for a long weekend get away. Itās very responsible for the family
Threewisemonkey@reddit
I mean - itās a modern classic that will absolutely appreciate on both the short and long timeline. Probably the last V8 manual sedan ever made, and top spec are going into major collections
xlb250@reddit
I think the big sedan part takes away from it in the long run. Twenty years from now, would you rather take a Camaro ZL1, C7 Corvette Z06, or CT5-V BW on a weekend drive?
lostfate2005@reddit
Blackwing and itās not close
Threewisemonkey@reddit
Iād definitely take this.
And itās absolutely going to be worth more bc of what it stands for as the end of the V8 era.
SUPREMACY_SAD_AI@reddit
it would be irresponsible not to buy this for your family
just_dave@reddit
If I were single, I could justify over leveraging myself a little bit.Ā
But with the shit show that this economy is shaping up to be in the next few years...
Mimical@reddit
My shitty take, just sit back and relax for another 1-2 years. Every single quarter I see more and more cars stacked up on lots and more incentives. We are on a downward trend for inflation.
Let's the cars stack up, let the APR drop. Get your shitty 0-1% raise and as long as the car price doesnt jump a bunch you will be in a better spot.
Don't put yourself into a financial dumpster for a car.
ukcats12@reddit
Your family needs a high horsepower car to safely merge onto the highway. Frankly, I think it would be irresponsible not to get one.
BahnMe@reddit
Wouldnāt have been on my bingo card that Cadillac would make a sports sedan that is more fun, more precise, more agile, and track friendly than an M5.
claspen@reddit
Just don't look into the development of the alpha platform and which cars were used for benchmarking...š¤«
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
...and less complicated and better looking.
_imyour_dad@reddit
I hope they keep making these into the end of the decade so I have the slightest chance of picking one up new.
Juicyjackson@reddit
The big thing that will likely kill off a lot of Manual cars in the US is the September 2029 requirement for Automatic Emergency Braking.
By Sept 2029 all cars sold in the US must have Automatic emergency braking.
A lot of cars have already implemented that but it seems like a lot won't even bother, I don't think Cadillac would spend the money to implement an automatic emergency braking system with the manual for 2 low selling models.
https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases/nhtsa-fmvss-127-automatic-emergency-braking-reduce-crashes
ducky21@reddit
That my Accord has this and a Blackwing doesn't really makes me question why the fuck I'd spend $100k more on a car with fewer features.
swimming_cold@reddit
My 2018 GTI has this yhoufg
Juicyjackson@reddit
That's why I said a lot of manufacturers have already implemented it.
But a lot of them haven't, like BMW, and GM.
ob_knoxious@reddit
The new WRX and BRZ both have AEB included with Subaru EyeSight on both manuals and automatic. It's definitely possible but I agree it would be difficult to justify on a car as niche as rhjs.
Toyota CEO said a while ago the future of sports cars will be collaborations. Maybe GM will work with another manufacturer when they update the Alpha platform to meet standards and share development costs. Could be a pipe dream but we will see.
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
Almost certainly not gonna happen lol. But rumors are GM is making one last gen of V8s. So maybe cross your fingers
ravengenesis1@reddit
I wish to be drunk and order this thing and just be pleasantly surprised to see it delivered to my door.
Unfortunately I don't see myself buying anything over 60k that's not topped up with the lack of income us peasants make. 250k a year as a family is not enough.
221missile@reddit (OP)
That's gotta be a big ass family.
ravengenesis1@reddit
100k+ is a huge chunk of income even if you pay it over time. It's doable, but it's kinda like one person using up all the money for a toy while the other overs all the bills.
Sleepy-Gong@reddit
Most likely my next car in 3-4 years. Hopefully the used market will cool off by then.
Dirtyace@reddit
Yup Iām definitely selling my 392 for one of these next summerā¦..
NameNotFound12@reddit
Damnit I want one of these so bad!
Beware_the_silent@reddit
God I wish this was AWD
leftoutnotmad@reddit
That is niceš¤¤
ukcats12@reddit
It's kind of been the thesis of the car from the very beginning. Nice to see GM continuing this mindset for the (most likely) last few years of car's production run.
