ULPT Request: Best way to flip a car on its side
Posted by pipp900@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 108 comments
Basically the title:
I have two neighbours who are currently on an extended holiday. They have parked their cars in the bicycle lane AND on the pavement. This makes it impossible for pretty much anyone to pass them without walking/biking/rolling on the road. The local police have already told me they won't do anything because the cars aren't blocking car traffic. So I want to change that. Does anyone have a good idea on how to carefully and quickly turn two cars on their side? They are mid size SUV's, I guess they weigh about 1.3t.
Ecstatic_Scientist71@reddit
I don’t know where is it so it depends by local law, but if you take off the number plates then the police will get interested quite quickly as without number plates the car could be uninsured and untaxed on the public road.
crossdl_@reddit
This is the move. Pull the license plate and call the police. Maybe if someone has weed, leave it conspicuously close.
Gogglesed@reddit
MUCH better idea than trying to move a car without experience.
Spray paint a slur on it, to expedite reports to police.
ThisSpecificPangolin@reddit
There's no need to be crude, use "CHEATER"
pipp900@reddit (OP)
Both great ideas, I'll keep this in mind!
Ryolu35603@reddit
If you wanna take it a step further, replace the plates with those PRIVATE plates all the “sovereign” citizens use.
Citizen44712A@reddit
A nice "Fuck the Police" should also do the trick.
themonicastone@reddit
Or just ACAB, quick and easy
_Phail_@reddit
A bunch of "fuck the pigs" stickers that spell out ACAB.
Equivalent-Carry-419@reddit
No need for a slur. Just an “F the pigs” bumper sticker. It’ll be gone in a couple hours
Tatler-Jack@reddit
Swap the plates between both vehicles. No one will notice until they pass thru an ANPR camera.

IrradiantFuzzy@reddit
Swap the plates between cars, call the super sketchy local tow company.
1337_BAIT@reddit
Just get a tow rope and drag em off the bike lane
CrunchyNutFruit@reddit
Pop a hole in fuel tank and then call fire department.

Gunslingermomo@reddit
Genuinely curious how you arrived at the conclusion that a midsize SUV weighs 1.3t. In the US that would be about 2600lbs, in the UK that's about 2900lbs, or 1322kg.
boxymorning@reddit
This is why its ok to throw bottles at bicycle people.
PerniciousSnitOG@reddit
if someone was to spill a shot glass of gasoline near the gas tank of each car I expect the fire department might want to remove them just in case they're a leaking gas ...
Oh, it's unethical life tips, not illegal life tips? Nvm!
Ghrrum@reddit
Dude, just clip a fuel line and light it on fire.
If you're going to commit a felony then COMMIT
pipp900@reddit (OP)
Great f-ing idea and I'd do this in a heartbet if your plan didn't have one big problem:
Tha cars are way to close to some hedges and could set the adjacent houses on fire
Anxious-Box9929@reddit
That's just collateral damage. Your intentions are way too important to hold on just a couple of houses burnt down.
PerniciousSnitOG@reddit
I mean it's the principle, right?
Basic_Guarantee_4552@reddit
Because of the implications
PerniciousSnitOG@reddit
what lesson would you be sending if you didn't?
Anxious-Box9929@reddit
What does it tell about us as a species if we even considered to save those meaningless wooden boxes?
PerniciousSnitOG@reddit
savages! godless savages! that's what we'd be!
johnboy11a@reddit
I love that your opposition is the fire spreading and not destroying their car 😂
Otherwise_Ebb4811@reddit
Cost of doing business, hope they've paid their insurance premium.
Leashii_@reddit
doing something to those cars would be extremely dumb considering you talked to the police about them beforehand.
if you flip them somehow, and the police inevitably comes around, ho do you think is going to be the prime suspect?
JerkyMcFuckface@reddit
Harbor freight (in the US) has car dollies you jack up the wheel, put down on dolly, then you can roll the car where you want it. Jack back up to pull the dollies out. Done deal.
Shotgun_Mosquito@reddit
This 10000 times
_Phail_@reddit
Does their return policy apply to a thousand purchases of the same thing? Suuuurely they'd be able to say no at some point
Shotgun_Mosquito@reddit
I'm currently working on finding out, I should have the shipping crate delivered after the weekend
pipp900@reddit (OP)
You mean something like this? Thats a great idea, just a little expensive. Maybe I can rent them somewhere around me
JerkyMcFuckface@reddit
Yeah basically. Or this: https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjXzK3f—iJAxVGgFoFHYHeBDUYABAQGgJ2dQ&co=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI18yt3_voiQMVRoBaBR2B3gQ1EAQYAiABEgIS5PD_BwE&sph=&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAASJeRoGMwiRsCaTV-luonDJD_4WTM5ciz-BxEwIjpyQZkGgwaV_qo&sig=AOD64_2TIH5zbniFxo-99NRI-puwtcKnrw&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwiYn6jf—iJAxUVRDABHdiWOlAQwg8oAHoECAgQFA&nis=8&adurl=
pipp900@reddit (OP)
Ah, those are more in my price range. might take a couple of helping hands tho
gunthans@reddit
Once you put them on the stands you can roll them around by yourself my father-in-law does it all the time, just roll them into traffic a little so the police will start caring and then return them
xikbdexhi6@reddit
Depending on the slope of the road, they could also start rolling all by themselves. Use your best judgement, OP.
JerkyMcFuckface@reddit
These and a Jack, you’re all set.
jarsgars@reddit
A lot cheaper than paying for their damage after you get caught car-tipping
MyOwnDirection@reddit
What’s the price of that beauty? I couldn’t find it on the Harbor Freight website.
MoldyUrethra0014@reddit
Harbor freight (at least in my state) has a GREAT return policy. Keep the receipt and they'll give you all your money back no questions asked, with damaged or no packaging. You can also find lots of free stuff in their dumpsters. Dumpster diving is legal if the dumpsters aren't locked
Square-Practice2345@reddit
Check for local city ordinances. Could still be illegal. If only a minor ticket.
notheebie@reddit
Ya this is one that varies. My source is that I used to dumpster dive blockbusters in my youth lol
eastcoastian@reddit
You forgot the last step:
Return it all to Harbor Freight!
JerkyMcFuckface@reddit
Nah. I like that store. Plus, if OP returns it, what happens next time he needs to dolly a car?
powerandbulk@reddit
This. Just move it to the middle of the road. The police impound unit will do the rest.
Lazy_Cauliflower_278@reddit
Tow truck
flagship-owner@reddit
Don't flip them Too much heat - can go to jail. Buy 2-4 wheel Dolly's with integrated jack. This will turn those SUV's into giant giant shop carts. You can then push them wherever you want then.
CameronsTheName@reddit
If it's a car with frameless windows you can often pry the window away from the roof of the car about 2-3cm.
Stick a garden hose through that gap and ruin someone's day real quickly.
CameronsTheName@reddit
4-5-6 really strong men could probably get a car onto its side if you jack it up heaps on one side.
3 of us guys were able to move the rear end of my mid sized front wheel drive sedan a few inches by picking it up using the fenders as grab points.
Svv33tPotat0@reddit
You already called the cops about these specific cars and you are now going to do something illegal to them?
MisterGary11@reddit
would the local council be more interested? Such a pain for pedestrians, especially less abled and those with prams. Maybe they will leave a couple of parking fines as well?
pipp900@reddit (OP)
I tried that, they don't care for non-car traffic
Cannibal_Feast@reddit
Just egg it
jjjustseeyou@reddit
I've seen someone ate canned spinach and did something similar.
garbonzobean22@reddit
Was their name Popeye?
Haunting_1821@reddit
No, Steve
gtjacket09@reddit
Why has no one mentioned breaking in and spraying the interior with liquid ass yet?
DiscoMarmelade@reddit
I thought we were injecting milk into the seats? Has that fad passed?
Highwaystar541@reddit
I haven’t heard of that one. It’s fucked up. I love it.
funkdefied@reddit
Piss disks will work in a pinch.
DoubleDareFan@reddit
Jack it up and put blocks under the axles, leaving the tires just touching the ground. When the offender goes to drive, the tires will spin uselessly, billowing clouds of smoke.
Dharmaniac@reddit
I did that once. It’s really really hard. It was in college, took like eight or 10 guys to do it, and it was a small car like an old VW beetle or something
Dikubus@reddit
Tow strap or chain over the top of the vehicle right in the middle between the doors, and connect the other end to a vehicle driving away at a perpendicular angle. Vehicle will flip over.
I would choose a vehicle you can not be associated with, so you probably need to steal a vehicle before going about this. Since there is two in question, use one to flip the other, and then ditch the other in a handicap parking zone
holliewood61@reddit
Go buy a cheap as hell beater car. I mean as cheap as you can find. Leave the title in the previous owners name (that part is important). Do not put tags on it. You don't want anything linking it back to you. Proceed to do a hit and run on the vehicles, then ditch the car. If nothing else they will be taken off the sidewalk to a repair shop.
UncleGoats@reddit
If you jack up one side of the car. Then a cinder block and a second jack should fit beside the first. Then when the second jack is extended, two cinder blocks and the first jack should fit beside the second jack. Assuming the frame holds, This will eventually tilt the car over on its side, Loudly. And messily.
I think it would be more fun, but less problem solving, to publicly shame them. A long distance shot of someone in a wheelchair having to navigate around the cars, over the curb, or into the grass should do it. License plates visible for maximum unethicalness.
not-rasta-8913@reddit
Get four strong friends. Lift.
NH_OPERATOR@reddit
Amazed this isn't higher up. It's amazing what 4-6 dudes can move. Me and my buddies lifted my car out of a snowbank once
Reasonable-Matter-12@reddit
Turn them? Oh. I was going to suggest two long pipes, a friend, and physics.
OutinDaBarn@reddit
See if the dealer's name is on the vehicles. Call them and tell them neither will start. Have them arrange the towing so that can be paid when the repairs are made.
Otherwise call a tow company and have them towed to a dealer. The farther away the better.
blackbb601@reddit
Take the wheels off and leave the cars on blocks of wood or milk crates.
OutinDaBarn@reddit
Screw that I ain't giving them my blocks. They leave with me.
Euphoric_Dust_5545@reddit
Take their license plate , attach it to your car, drive thru your nearest toll booth bout 20 times, Return license plate They’ll come home to a nice surprise 😊
DoctaJenkinz@reddit
But the make and model will likely be different. Pretty easy to tell there’s foul play involved. Especially since the offending car will be next door.
gtjacket09@reddit
Better yet, rent a car that’s the same make and model for the day. If you use your own car they might figure it out from the photos.
CarlyRaeJepsenFTW@reddit
hell yeah i like this idea
GakkoAtarashii@reddit
Ninja rocks. Break all windows.
Wear a mask, do it at night, plain clothes.
CTripps@reddit
Get yourself a valve stem tool.
Give all the valve stems about 1 turn and let the air out of all 4 tires. For bonus points, tighten them up again once flat so they won't find that's how they got flats.
Technically, no vandalism has been done and the cars now look like 'derelicts.'
ironworkerlocal577@reddit
Not to be mean, but you won't do anything. you should have just grown a pair and went and taken care of it instead of this.
ashlee837@reddit
Just hire a tow company.
Stunning_Run_7354@reddit
A “farm Jack” should be able to raise one side enough so you and a friend can flip it onto its side. If you feel like being subtle, you can lift it enough to fit something fun up and underneath. I knew a kid who effectively destroyed a Mercedes with a dead skunk carcass. Turns out it is almost impossible to get it out when correctly installed.
Revolutionary-Half-3@reddit
Occasionally called a High-lift jack. They're ready things, and can do way more than just lift stuff. They're also dangerous as hell, because you can lift stuff really high on a skinny jack.
Stunning_Run_7354@reddit
I’ve use mine to move the cow shed enough to pull with a vehicle, but it mostly is my back saver, removing fence posts and other things.
thugbeet@reddit
Farm jack
Wag_The_God@reddit
Brake-fluid bukkake would be a lot quicker.
trevit@reddit
When I was a kid, it wasn't uncommon to 'bounce' a car to move it. By having a person on each wheel arch and bouncing it on the suspension, then at the top of each bounce you can shift it gradually. Don't know if it works on modern cars which are probably heavier, and with more alarms and security devices
mybeatsarebollocks@reddit
Get everyone on one side and you can roll it over.
Business_Decision535@reddit
And decent shocks will make this tough
BBorNot@reddit
What a handy ULPT!
Computer-Blue@reddit
It works. Lovely trick. Doesn’t take much strength, just good rhythm
Over9000Zeros@reddit
Too much work, cut their cats off and throw them in a dumpster somewhere. Even if they don't get pulled over they'll have to pay a hefty fee to replace those.
Revolutionary-Half-3@reddit
Or just shank the converters, and lobotomize the fragile ceramic guts by working it around in there. Fails inspection, gets loud AF, and throws chunks into the rest of the exhaust.
Bonus for spray foam.
Basic_Guarantee_4552@reddit
Tale license plate off, break some windows report them as being possibly stolen. Cops will care then.
bestuzernameever@reddit
Just drag it enough that it’s sticking out on the road, then call the city and poof it’s gone asap
2gigi7@reddit
Do you have parking enforcement ppl ? Get them a bunch of tickets to come home too..
lummoxmind@reddit
Get a car jack and some boards. Jack it up, place boards. Place jack on higher boards, rinse and repeat. Probably take a team of two guys less than 10 minutes until you can push it over. Or get like seven or eight men and just ass-tulip strain lift it together.
kfunkapotamus@reddit
Eww...
everett640@reddit
I didn't see anyone say anything about a farm jack. I've seen those things lift up sheds could probably do a car. Might have to get some cinder blocks to set it on to keep jacking since they have a limited vertical range
ResidentImpossible40@reddit
Forty years ago someone used the old style jack ( smaller version of what is mounted on the side of jeeps) , jacked up the front of her car and pushed it to the side. Several times of doing this got her car back on the road. Go steal a keep jack!
CartoonistNo9@reddit
They’d stop doing it if they came home to find the mirrors broken and the doors all scratched from where “someone” had to squeeze past it.
Proof_Bathroom_3902@reddit
Determine if it's front or rear wheel drive. Get a hydraulic floor jack. Lift up the center of the car between the drive wheels until the drive wheels are off the ground. Now you can roll the car with some help by pushing the jack and the car at the same time. We roll dead cars in the shop like this often.
lundytoo@reddit
Can you pull it into the street with another car and a chain or tow strap?
rakfink@reddit
F%#k cops! Bumper sticker.
Wide_Lychee5186@reddit
unless you are ronnie coleman, you might be out of luck.
GoauldofWar@reddit
No.
Outside of renting heavy equipment or organizing the entire neighborhood, neither of which are quick.
