Looks like an aircraft from Pax River.

It is indeed. In fact if you go to the Pax River Naval Air Museum you can see it on display. Still has the Hornets nose attached.

It always amazes me how old modern aircraft really are. The F-18 is a 70s aircraft and is still the backbone of US military aviation.
Hell, even the F-35, the newest and chubbiest cheeked baby military aircraft flying for the West and is a product of the JSF project of 80s. Designs for the X-35 were finalized in the early 90s.
I can't imagine what fighter aircraft designed in the 2010s look like.

The F-18E/F is a 90s aircraft, and quite honestly, should likely not have been considered a variant of the F-18.
There's not much in the way of parts commonality between them, and externally, the only thing they share is forwards of the cockpit.
I wouldn't call the pre-super hornet hornets the backbone, as I'm pretty sure the last group to fly them were the blue angles up until recently

the spanish air force still flies them, really close to being retired though

The B-52 was designed in the late 1940s.
