What do you do when you’re 34 turns into a 68 and then is leaning towards 102?

Busted water pump I thought it was gonna get taken care of over the weekend is just now being diagnosed…. Sitting in the hotel is killing me.

If you’re getting paid layover, just enjoy the mini vacation. Go swimming if the hotel has a pool. You’ll be back to the old routine soon enough and you’ll think back on the little hotel adventure with a bit of nostalgia.
Also, check in with the shop and your dispatch at the beginning and end of every day. Be polite. Just ask if there’s any updates.

They pulled my load yesterday due to contract delivery requirements… I’ve been riding around on the city’s free buses checking out the sights caught a movie had a few good meals. But I’m one step away from banging my head into a wall😂

Sounds kinda cool actually

Yeah, other than the boredom and loss of income, there are much worse places to be broke down than Missoula Montana

Submit a request for lay over. Some companies do 120-200 a day for this kind of thing.

Oh, I get breakdown pay for sure! But it’s barely a third of normal pay. But it way better than nothing!

Reimburse for hotel out do they pay it?
oic38122@reddit (OP)
They pay! I just go down and refresh key card every day at 11 local….

It's not a bad way to get a holiday. Get paid (OK, it's not as much as when you're driving -- but in terms of $ per unit of work done/$ per mile driven....), free hotel, and it doesn't cost you any of your time off.
oic38122@reddit (OP)
Yeah! I’m trying to look on the bright side. I just remotely logged into my ELD and I can see they move my truck about two hours ago, so it looks like they’re finally working on it.
Ich_mag_Kartoffeln@reddit
You can't rush these things ;). My record is 18 days. I hired a car and went exploring.

Good. Got stuck for a week in Tempe, AZ in July a few years ago. Paid hotel oop but company reimbursed for it in addition to breakdown.

Oh, I’ll be trying to get the points on my credit card even for the Ubers, but they insist they book everything. I guess someone at corporate is racking them points up
Ghosted1974@reddit
Yeah, you know they are.

Feel your pain. I've been sat in Rawlins, WY since Friday night with a broken trailer. Finally getting it repaired this morning.

Chill and play video games in my hotel room. Maybe go hit some local attractions one day if there’s anything nearby I’m interested in.
So long as they’ve got me in a hotel and are paying me layover I’m good. It’s not ideal from a money standpoint but just is what it is. Now if I’m waiting in the truck for more than a couple of days for a load I’m gonna start getting pissed.

Lol be glad it's not the gray bar motel
