This Tyrrell P34 replica was built for and appears in Fast X (and presumably XI). Utilizing an Oldsmobile 442 V8 with N2O injection and an RV transmission. Custom closed cockpit with adjustable front wing. Independent rear-wheel steering, so it can 'crab'.

What size is that rear tire?
gnowbot@reddit
Ooh! I’m guessing this transmission out of a front-wheel-drive GMC motorhome/Toronado. The 442 was the stock engine in that motorhome as well. The transmission is kinda fun, it’s like a normal automatic transmission but rotated 180 to sit next to the oil pan. A transfer-case-style chain gets the power from the crank to the transmission input. Then cv axles get the power to the wheels.
If you attach an 8.1 Vortec to one, you can do front-wheel burnouts in a motorhome.

Actually 4-4-2 wasn't an engine displacement. It stood for 4-barrel, 4-speed, dual exhaust according to most who purport to know. The FWD RV this brings to mind is the GMC FWD model from the mid-70's, and IIRC most (if not all) of those had a 455 cu. in. V8, thinking an Oldsmobile? Would have likely used the same transmission that the Toronado/Eldorado siblings did. In later years, those big (although downsized) FWD cars could be had with 350 or 307 V8's, once again if memory serves me correctly.
blur911sc@reddit
I have a 1976 GMC motorhome, it does have an Oldsmobile 455 mated to a TH425 3-speed automatic transmission very similar to the one in the Eldorado/Toronado. The last couple of years they were made the engine was the Oldsmobile 403.
renchjeep@reddit
Ah, yes. I forgot about the Olds 403. That 403 was also in some Pontiac Trans Am's of the era. A buddy had a 15th anniversary edition (1979 model?) with that Olds 403. I always thought that was kinda strange, Olds in a Pontiac....and a Trans Am even!
NocturnalPermission@reddit
A lot of those late 70’s / early 80’s “muscle” cars shared engines with more pedestrian models across the GM platforms. T ‘79 Trans Am used the same base 4.9L (301) engine as the Buick Regal, but added a turbo and a different carb setup.
ShalomRPh@reddit
I had a ‘79 Grand LeMans with that 301. Most had the 231 V6, but this was a former Vermont State Patrol unmarked car so it had the V8. Wish I still had that car.
ZaMelonZonFire@reddit
What size is that rear tire??
chiphook@reddit
The gmc motorhome used a 455 rocket(oldsmobile) and a 403(olsmobile). The 442 was an Olds performance package, but not an engine. The 442 used a 330 cubic inch engine.
blur911sc@reddit
GMC motorhome has an Oldsmobile 455, there is no 442 engine. (I have one in my backyard)
I've never heard of anyone bolting up a Vortec, most stick to the 455, 403, or occasionally a Cadillac engine, there is a kit for a diesel, but it's not overly popular.
gnowbot@reddit
There was an outfit out of Sequim, Washington that was doing 8.1vortec crate engine kits. My dad’s dealership installed them. The mechanics all loved them, haha. I don’t think they went too far, though. It took a few iterations of building that transmission and converter before it could handle the torque. A few shelled converters and an actual torque de-tune later and it was a pretty solid rig.
blur911sc@reddit
The transmissions are the weak point with diesel conversions as well, can't take the hammering as well as the torque. There's supposed to be a guy who can build a transmission to make it work....there's always "a guy"
Beatus_Vir@reddit
Do you mean 455? There is no olds 442 engine, but a half a dozen different motors that they've used in that car.
gnowbot@reddit
Yeah, sorry! 455 olds in the GMC. Brain fart 20 years after wrenching on the thing with my pops
1968RR@reddit
442 was the name of a car, not the engine.
twizted_whisperz@reddit
Everyone else is already pointeimg out that these motorhomes have 455s and not a 442, but I would also feel need point out that you can absolutely do a burnout with the 455.
There are a few videos of them on YouTube doing so.
I got two of them a 73 and a 75.
XDT_Idiot@reddit
Thank you so much for explaining, I was squinting to figure out how this thing was linked to that rear axle over which it appears to be sitting.
whoknewidlikeit@reddit
does it have a turbo diesel? cuz that's what they said that flip car had in fast and furious 6.
which about made me barf up my popcorn, and that seems really uncomfortable.
shiddyfiddy@reddit
Little bit more sheet metal in the right spots and you could start blasting through traffic, flipping everyone out of your way.
Thatcoonfella@reddit
Who the fuck lists RV transmission as a mod lol. “ yeah I got a 442 in this thing with a good ol RV transmission”

In absolutely no way is this thing a replica.
typecastwookiee@reddit
Yeah, this is just a six wheeled car
incindia@reddit
Maybe they tried to emulate the geometries?
Acc87@reddit
it's the flip car (second one) from F&F X
RepresentativeFee967@reddit
I wonder if they modeled it after the 6 wheeled f1 cars from a long time ago. And that might be what they were referring to possibly. Because this does look very similar to those
Idonotgetthisatall@reddit
It really doesn't.
Thijm_@reddit
ive seen the Tyrell in real life, and I can confirm this. its quite long but not THAT long
notsoentertained@reddit
Why is this called a Tyrell P34 replica? It has six wheels but that's like saying my wife's Volvo is a Ferrari replica.
Blanchimont@reddit
It's only a Ferrari replica if it has the prancing moose shields.
EchoPhi@reddit
I am guessing it isn't an Electric Volvo because if it was, you would not be saying that.
SkyHigh27@reddit
This Tyrrell P34 replica is exactly like the original P34. The only difference being the engine, transmission, wheels, tires, body style and aerodynamics, size, weight, color, closed cockpit, and of course the nitrous injection. Seriously, calling this a ‘replica’ to one of the most iconic F1 cars in history is a huge disservice to the original mark.
Idonotgetthisatall@reddit
Don't forget the RV transmission!
T5-R@reddit
It's also a replica of a 6x6 G Wagon.
skucera@reddit
It’s also a replica of a 2013 Nissan Rogue, with a few features reimagined.
Idonotgetthisatall@reddit
This post makes as much sense as every other reference to automotive mechanics or culture in F&F movies.

TIL I’m a replica of Chris Hemsworth.
CatboyInAMaidOutfit@reddit
The idea of this car might have been inspired by the Tyrrell P34, but this is definitely no replica.
whatalongusername@reddit
If this is a replica of the Tyrrell P34, I am a replica to Harry Styles. I mean, we both have two eyes, a mouth, a nose...
Trololman72@reddit
I had no idea this thing was meant to be a Tyrell P34.
bsparks@reddit
It wasn’t.
BB_210@reddit
It's a replica? Can't tell the difference, looks like the original car!
existensile@reddit
Which engine, and which 4-4-2? Details, man! lol
mattoattacko@reddit
Assuming the data and physics the Forza devs took of this car are even vaguely accurate, I can assure you all that this thing drives like absolute garbage.
TheFightingImp@reddit
While I get that it was done to ward off griefing in MP, it sucks that you cant flip cars over with its nose shape.
Parkerraines@reddit
This is just a more advanced version of the flip car from fast 6

Front wheels aren't tiny Tyrrell ten inches.
Still very weird and probably great to see in action.

warrensussex@reddit
442 was an options package on the Cutlass. I assume the engine here is a 455.
