Pointing out systematic failures in certain parts of England is not dissing, it's called showing the raw reality of many people's lives. It's heartbreaking that children have to pretend they are eating and even more heartbreaking that more than 40% of UC recipients are working and still struggling to put food on the table.
I encourage everyone to donate whatever they can to the local food banks, people everywhere are relaying on them now more than ever. You don't have to donate money. Pasta is 75 pence at Tesco, baked beans are 43 pence, rice is 52 pence, tomato sauce is 65 pence. My point is, whatever you can spare is better than nothing.
People who don't struggle nowadays have become a minority and those who do, have become the majority. It's hard for all of us one way or another and it should be up to the government to fix this problem as they led us into this hell hole, but we have to remember that there are people who starve themselves for their children and there are children going to bed with winter coats on.
Help with whatever you can and if you are one of those people who need that little bit of support, please know that asking for help is okay, don't make yourself sick because embarrassment stops you from accessing food banks or council food vouchers, and don't ever think that you are taking from another person who might need it more.
If your cupboards and fridge are empty, and you can't afford food, then you are one of those people who need that assistance the most.
It's a national problem, I believe, MK charities are just better at pointing it out.

The article isn't 'dissing MK' in anyway, rather pointing to the incompetence and failure of prior and current government. Truly is a sad state of affairs

When there are working people who cannot support their families you know this is more than just tinkering with the tax credits or whatever. I would go so far to say that it extends far beyond the scope of either this or the last government; its endemic and will plague the next government as well without a fundamental change to the financial system which has been detrimental not just to only ordinary people, but governments themselves.

I have a hard time believing this is true. Why on earth would you bother taking an empty lunchbox to school with you? Especially at the primary grade level, the school inspects the contents of the children's lunchboxes (under the guise of looking for allergens like nuts or mango). If the lunch box was empty the parents would be reported to Children's Services.

Yeah this isn't an MK problem. It's a national problem.
