I think that's m81

Seems the lower RPM starting mode would be helpful to get on target or when you don’t need a huge stream of ammo. Probably helps conserve ammo. Other than that, seems like exposed gearing, a freaking gas engine, and very poor handling would make the Dillon the obvious choice between the two.
Bad_boy_18@reddit
It is gas operated instead of an electric motor like mini gun.
MaJ0Mi@reddit
As in pressurized gas?
Bad_boy_18@reddit
No as in just like other small arms like ak or pkm ot has a gas piston mechanism
MaJ0Mi@reddit
But why?
The barrel assembly is obviously rotated by some kind of motor. Why have the operating mechanism have a life of it's own when you could have a really precise timing by linking the feeding of cartridges and the locking and unlocking of the bolts by connecting it directly to the (already spinning) barrel assembly?
Bad_boy_18@reddit
Apparently it user both an electric motor and gas operation
MaJ0Mi@reddit
That explains the sudden increase in firing rate when the gun has fired the first few rounds. The barrel rotation speed of the electric motor is boosted by the gas system. Or does it have a progressive trigger to manually decide firing rate?
I'd love a deeper look into that thing
ChevTecGroup@reddit
Sure doesn't seem like it
Bad_boy_18@reddit
It doesn't but between all of the barrel there is a gas piston system.
ChevTecGroup@reddit
What gets it started? Seems to be more of a gas booster than fully gas operated
Iron_Felix_Kuban@reddit
0:10 "The modernized GShG machine gun differs from the regular one in that the gas engine has been removed and the barrel rotation is electric, so the rate can be changed from 400 to 6000 rounds per minute."
