I'm not a font expert, but It may be the exact same font, especially the 'a' that's used for https://www.saatva.com/mattresses. See what you think.
jackblack3000@reddit
I need what they smoked
tatsumakisenpuukyaku@reddit
They're making Superbowl tickets. No one at the Superbowl cares about football. They care about other people knowing that they went to the superbowl. That's Jag's new audience.
They got beat out of the luxury sedan and SUV market by the Germans, Cadillac, and Volvo. If traditional fans said that they're going out and buying a new jag, the rest of the family would have to have an emergency meeting and figure out how to tell Grandpa that they're taking his license away.
RiftHunter4@reddit
RIP Jag.
The demographic they're talking about doesn't exist. The average new car shopper is 50 years old, and the ultra-luxury market has not been kind to everyone lately (just look at Aston Martin and Maserati).
Nothing about this brand strategy is making sense to me.
KARMAWHORING_SHITBAY@reddit
I’d like to imagine they know something we don’t considering this is such a huge change, but really, who knows anymore.
tatsumakisenpuukyaku@reddit
Land Rover customer data
Larcya@reddit
They think they can get the mythical young, rich crowd that is going to want their new thing.
It's a segment that has existed forever but only on paper. Economists have written paper after paper on them.
Basically this demographic for Jag has to:
Be young enough to not be off put by this branding.
Be not old enough to stop younger people from wanting a Jaguar.
Rich enough to be able to afford a $100,000+ car without a care in the world.
Not too rich so that they just laugh at them and go buy a Bentley or Rolls Royce or Ferrari.
So this crowd does exist but it's practically impossible to use them as your target demographic because their tastes and well needs are so diverse. They also aren't a plentiful demographic. How many CEO's under 35 exist? How many C suite executives? Trust fund baby's will just go buy a RR or Ferrari so you can't count on them after all.
KARMAWHORING_SHITBAY@reddit
I said this in the other thread but I’m right in this demographic. Wife and I are DINKs who own a home in our late 20s and make well into the six figures with medical / high tech jobs.
We have plenty of friends in the same demographic. We don’t give a shit about brand name and if anything, “ultra luxury” is obviously a scam. Like you said, the trust fund kids will skip over Jag for the RR, and the $500k household of a young doctor and lawyer is just going to get a 911 for the weekend and a Tesla for the weekday. A $150k+ Jaguar just doesn’t appeal
darthmarmite@reddit
Pretty much.
They are already struggling in the premium segment competing with the German marques and this is only going to get more competitive as you have your traditionally “everyday” brands push upwards and we look at the influx of Chinese brands coming in across this space… Essentially, where they currently are/were playing, there’s less market share to go around (cost of living, decreasing sales etc.) but more people vying for a cut of it.
They can’t go cheaper.
Only chance is to go more expensive and double down on the luxury and EV front. If they go all-in on EV and do it well, they could possibly get ahead of the likes of Aston, Bentley etc. who are sticking with ICE/Hybrid for now.
£100k-£200k EV only is a niche but it’s one that is pretty un-catered for currently compared to the amount of competition in other sectors.
And if EVs really do catch on across the country with ass-adoption then it could pay off to be an early adopter.
capnofasinknship@reddit
Ass adoption?
darthmarmite@reddit
Haha corrected!!!
throwawayrepost02468@reddit
Look at Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce. Jaguar is making the bet that the ultra luxury market is a growing and more penetrable segment than the one they're currently in (which consists of the German 3, the Japanese 3, Genesis, Alfa Romeo, Cadillac, Lincoln, Volvo...more than half of those brands are struggling just as Jaguar has)
argent_pixel@reddit
Compound that with the fact that the test mule looks like it'll be a 4 door sedan which is exactly what they were about to release with the EV XJ they cancelled and it just beggars belief how idiotic leadership at that company is.
taint_tattoo@reddit
Is Jaguar ok? I think there may be a hostage situation over there....
https://x.com/Jaguar/status/1858800846646948155
andoryu123@reddit
At least they are all diverse and the same.
okcumputer@reddit
I’ve never had a commercial make me want a car less.
Aero06@reddit
Ironic that Chinese EV companies are buying up dying British marquees like Lotus and MG because they have an ethos and a history that you can't brute force into a market, and meanwhile Jaguar's new marketing strategy is to sweep their heritage under the rug to try and impress the youth as if fondness for the XJ and E-Type weren't the only thing keeping them relevant.
stav_and_nick@reddit
I unironically think that Geely buying Jag from Tata would save the brand. They've done a fantastic job (despite the grumbling) turning around Volvo, Smart, and Lotus, all of whom hit their best ever sales last year.
Aero06@reddit
You're probably right, ironically their product plan for Lotus probably would've been a much better fit for Jaguar.
stav_and_nick@reddit
Every brand nowadays needs an SUV; that's just how it is. I think it sucks, but what can you do?
Which is why splitting brands from SUVs or Trucks like Dodge/Ram and Jag/Land Rover is such a stupid idea. You lose the sex appeal vehicles eventually because they can't justify them without the money makers, and lead to basically boring lineups for the remaining brand
UnloadTheBacon@reddit
The whole point of splitting brands is that they can focus on different markets. Jaguar doesn't need an SUV - Land Rover have that covered in spades. Jaguar is where you go for a classy performance car, a grand tourer or an executive limousine that's also a bit punchy. The two complement each other.
You can have a Range Rover as a family car, an XJ for business trips, an XK for the weekends, and a Defender for adventure holidays. A JLR car for every occasion.
Same way you'd have an iPhone, iPad, MacBook and Mac Pro depending on the task.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
The pouncing cat looks great, but the other new logos and typeface absolutely do not. The "J a G U a r" looks cheap imo. They should stick with classic looking logos and typeface...ones that people recognize.
BigUpAdz@reddit
VK74 EKV. Jaguar 2024 model unknown. Roadtax £180 if it was electric that would be £0 roadtax. They haven't even managed to prototype a full electric car, and they've already jumped headfirst into this EV only branding. Think they should have spent more on engineering than branding/marketing, recent JLR cars already have poor reliability due to crappy electrics. Can't imagine they'll be any better when it's all electrics, developed, tested, engineered and put on the market in 2 years...
RVLVR-OCLT@reddit
They’re trying to emulate the branding on Luxury handbags from 2006.
desf15@reddit
Agree. And replacing roaring jaguar logo with something that looks like a cheap bathroom fitment brand logo is especially bad.
BayLAGOON@reddit
This is like when Superintendent Chalmers had his Honda "H" stolen.
How are people supposed to know you have a Jag when you can't show it off?
aPardawala@reddit
Funny you'd say that cause there's literally a bathroom fitment company named Jaquar
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
Yeah it looks like what a designer would choose for a opulent logo who thought tacky gaudiness was oppulence
reddegginc@reddit
It looks like something kind of logo you’d find in a women’s retail store at the mall
Like they specialize in selling handbags, lipstick, and jewelry
I’m wondering if they’re going to be targeting the hyper rich female pop culture-obsessed/influencer crowd
humjaba@reddit
Just go to jaguars website. The whole marketing push for this new brand is designer hand bag, lipstick, hair and fashion. I don’t get it, but I might be too poor
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
It sure does, I know a few brands who’s logos summed that up. Jaguar can’t even be seen on the same level as the big 3 German brands so I don’t know how they expect to be viewed as rolls Royce and Bentley competitors lol.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
Well, Cadillac is selling a ~$350k EV sedan that's supposed to go up against Rolls and Bentley. I'm sure Jag could give it a try.
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
I don’t know how Cadillac is gonna fair against those two when they don’t even have a model car reviewers compare to the s class or Audi a8. Cadillac asking for 350k for a “ultra luxury” ev sedan is defintely a choice. An s580e would be a great much cheaper alternative because there’s not many notable differences from it in comparison to the maybach trim
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
In all fairness, The S class and A8 sell in rather small numbers, especially the A8. You could almost say the Escalade is Cadillac's S-class. But yes, Cadillac does not have a true luxury flagship sedan, so it's a big reach for them to sell the Celestiq. With that being said, the Celestiq is a built to order custom car and not made for mass production like the S-class. We'll see how well it does.
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
Your points are valid and yeah we’ll just have to let time tell.
TaintedSupplements@reddit
That is absolutely not an electric car body
Intrepid-Working-731@reddit (OP)
It’s going to be electric, it’s been confirmed by Jaguar.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
How so?
TaintedSupplements@reddit
Too boxy, EVs are pretty much unmarketable without maximum aerodynamic focus. The cybertruck is meant to be a gimmick ofc.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
It's heavily camouflaged. We don't know what the production version looks like underneath all of that.
krombopulousnathan@reddit
I like the logo and honestly I would be totally fine with that font if they would throw it on a great car.
Like this rebranding is more of an art project and less of something giving me any idea what they are going to do.
MintyTS@reddit
It's formatted in way I'd imagine James William Bottomtooth pronouncing it, so I say it fits.

For whatever reason, that’s the style of the times. Minimal, inoffensive, no soul or passion. Audi’s new flat circles look like someone deflated them.
The pouncing cat is iconic and immediately sets Jag apart from the rest.
P1xelHunter78@reddit
And British cars were always anything but “inoffensive”. They had flaws and souls. Now it just seems everyone wants to make a knock off Audi.

Intrepid-Working-731@reddit (OP)
I can imagine Jaguar pulling some gaudy stuff like the BMW XM EVSE “purse” or whatever it’s supposed to be.
Aromatic_Fail_1722@reddit
With the recent course changes going on at all big manufacturers in terms of EV strategy & budget allocation (Merc, Volvo, Porsche) I can only imagine the utter panic inside Jaguar HQ at the moment. It may have seemed like a somewhat good idea going 100% EV just a few months ago, it definitely isn't anymore.
Agree-With-Above@reddit
I think the ultra wealthy won't care. They want a quiet and refined ride, which EVs can surely provide them.
Moynia@reddit
Having to sit in a Walmart parking lot on a charger for 45 minutes isnt really my idea of luxury.
Intrepid-Working-731@reddit (OP)
These type of people charge at home.
Agree-With-Above@reddit
It's not their problem. Their chauffeur drops them off, and they go about their business.
Aromatic_Fail_1722@reddit
I think to a certain extent you're right, which is why the Spectre is working well. The difference is that Rolls Royce is considered a very high-end brand, whereas Jaguar was selling BMW 3-series competitors less than two years ago. And I haven't even talked about their reliability reputation yet.
Agree-With-Above@reddit
Sure, it takes a few years of models to change the perception. But I'm sure there's quite a few ultra-rich that are willing to go with a 'true' British marque, maybe out of patriotism.
Aromatic_Fail_1722@reddit
Given that even the ultra-rich must have figured out by now that Jaguar is 100% Indian owned, I doubt that will happen.
Agree-With-Above@reddit
I don't think they care in their plush cow leather and massaging seats who actually owns the brands.
stav_and_nick@reddit
I think the issue is that there's so many ultra wealthy targetting brands now. Jaguar is leaping into the space, but there's what, Land Rover, Rolls Royce, the 15 or so exotic car brands like Lambo, Ferrari, AM, etc, the gaggle of new/revived Chinese entrants, Toyota apparently building out the Century brand to go outside Asia, etc
I mean, I know these people have a lot of money. But surely at some point the market gets saturated?
Agree-With-Above@reddit
A Lambo and RR are completely different type of ultra luxury
TheCanadianShield99@reddit
Jag should focus on the unacceptable quality and reliability of their product. The logo wasn't the issue.
1orange2oranges@reddit
As a former Jaguar owner, I’m here to say no, just no. The new logo/type feels like it wants to be at an airport kiosk that sells phone chargers. Now, it might be that they want all-new clientele and don’t care about the old-farts who enjoyed leather, V8s, and style, but I cannot imagine what they think they’re becoming.
KingKeenan200@reddit
it feels like a Clothing Brand logo though
41212@reddit
It is exactly this. You are not the target market.
1orange2oranges@reddit
Volvo seems to have gone the same way. They’re discarding the brand loyalists who have money in favor of, umm, Tesla-owning-Elon-haters?
garytyrrell@reddit
Huh? Volvo seems more Volvo than ever. Minimalist interiors were kind of their thing.
stav_and_nick@reddit
What are you talking about? Their bread and butter remains the XC60, which is a comfortable, safe, boring SUV. That sounds exactly like the modern version of the comfortable, safe(*), boring 90s bricks
1orange2oranges@reddit
Vestige of the soon-to-be-past. While Volvo has quietly backed away from the “all electric by 2030” pledge, go see the EX90 and tell me they don’t wish they were Tesla.
stav_and_nick@reddit
Maybe; I see it as more of an evolution of the infotainment setup in previous cars. Then again, Tesla's OG designer was poached from Volvo, and now he's returned back home. So I'd say it's more cross pollination, really
Idk, I sat in one, I liked it and I don't like Tesla. I do have bad taste though, so maybe I just haven't noticed
41212@reddit
Brand loyalists haven't kept the brand afloat so can't blame them.
Larcya@reddit
Then who is the target market?
Old dudes who wanted a jag existed.
I really don't see who this appeals to. Young people aren't going to be dropping the cash on a $100,000+ EV. Old people won't want to touch this.
How many millennials do they think will be in the market for this?
This is like with Dodge getting rid of V8's, except Jag doesn't have the hurricane engine to fall back on. instead you just get the hybrid engine from the 4xE...
My basic point is that I don't see this group jag wants to cater to, actually existing outside of focus groups.
41212@reddit
Despite Reddit's wish, you can't make old cars.
RiftHunter4@reddit
Which begs the question of who is? Because...
This group doesn't really exist, and even if they did, young people don't know about Jaguar. There's been a comedic lack of marketing to hype up jag in this demographic. TikTok is full of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, and various Chinese EV's. I have a hard time believing they'll crack that market with a virtually unknown brand.
41212@reddit
You are literally commenting on the first bit of marketing targeting this demographic. You can't target these people with the old brand look and feel, so you have to start somewhere
RiftHunter4@reddit
I think they could if they actually bothered to emphasize it. Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz all have an iconic history that has been hyped to the moon, and young people still talk about those cars. Jaguar has the E-Type and the XJ220, but they're building an EV Sedan for some reason.
41212@reddit
Not sure the XJ220 is a suitable vehicle to be focusing on. They only made a handful.
Staplersarefun@reddit
Also former Jaguar owner (albeit an F-Pace)...the chrome badges and early 90s font weren't cutting it imo.
Jaguar needs a radical rethinking, limited models and something unique. I personally would never buy another JLR product, but I know a lot of people that would if the product was unique enough.
frog-hopper@reddit
Jag lost the plot years ago. We all know this. But we’ve all been burned enough to know every time they come with a refreshed/ this is totally different approach it’s the same old same old.
Only two dealerships have ever been completely disinterested in selling me a car (Jag and Ford) and only because the sales people are lazy didn’t want to do work rather than trying to be snooty (you can’t afford this bud). Like literally “ah man, I got to work? Ughhh”.
I’m sure they’re super changed now.
sonrisa_medusa@reddit
They only aim to keep 10-15% of former Jaguar owners. So I guess you can take this as their formal "goodbye".
ShortwaveKiana@reddit
As someone who loves the older XJS Jags, but has never actually owned one (go figure), I am 100% disinterested in an all electric future for Jag. It just doesn't suit the company. I then realize that I'm not the target audience anymore; the company wants to go for the younger social media influencer crowd.

IMHO the only chance Jaguar has is to be different from anyone else, to be a fashion statement. When people buy appliances, they want them to be reliable. Jaguar only makes sense when then don't - when people make an emotional purchase. They should be to Aston Martin what BMW is to Porsche.
Everybody including the Germans are now making video games on wheels. Jaguar could make (mostly) analog cars. Screens should be limited to navigation and CarPlay and tucked away nicely when not in use - or maybe entirely done through HUDs. Even if they are EVs, most functions should be accessible through buttons and toggles that feel nice to the touch. Interiors should use leather with unique colors and textures. They should offer rich exterior colors (like Aston) and unique exterior designs that are sleek and unapologetically full of sexy curves instead of the sharp edges and monstrous grills pretty much everybody else is going for. They need associate Jaaaaaaag, with refined taste. To be there for people who don't want to blend in the crowd and buy what everybody else is buying.
Yes, it is a niche, but one that is currently not exploited and that could be bigger than their current marketshare. Just like Aston and Bond, Jaguar could do product placement in TV and films as the brand beautiful and affluent people buy. I'm afraid it is too late though.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
I agree with what you've said. Instead of completely relaunching their brand image, they should tap into their rich history and past vehicles by echoing the style and image they used to sell. Ford successfully did this with the new Bronco, so why can't Jag do that? Of course, that's just one vehicle, and one that costs ~$50k as opposed to a (supposedly) very expensive one, but the basic idea is the same.
mustangfan12@reddit
I honestly don't know what they're going for, there's only a very small percentage of buyers that can afford rolls Royce's or Bentley's. I'm highly doubtful they will go for a Jaquar.
420CurryGod@reddit

I prefer the old typeface. I like the font, but the mix of lowercase and uppercase is infuriating for me. Hopefully it doesn’t replace the logo on the back, I don’t like this trend of spelling the brand name on the back of the car.
With the rebranding and negative news about Jag in the past few months, they really should focus on marketing and creating brand awareness before the relaunch.
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
Yeah they really should. I don’t even know what theme they try to go with when it comes to brand marketing. Their instagram post are all just short captions wirh dark pictured pictures. It’s like soothing ambient lighting colored posts in dark settings. Plus I haven’t seen a jaguar ad in years. It’s like they don’t even pay to be on YouTube and I say YouTube because I don’t have cable
