Pic 1: First iteration from 1975, though it appears to be missing the optic that would’ve been on it (also note the early 1976 prototype on the top left of the pic) Pic 2: final iteration of prototype, 1976-1977. Most likely the second variant of this iteration judging by key features, but could be an unknown third variant that wasn’t shown. Pic 3: NATO prototype, unknown what year it was developed, wish I had more info on this

Is there some reason for the tulip shaped barrel end? Just a style exercise maybe?

It may have that for compatibility with rifle grenades maybe? The protrusions further up the barrel looks like it, like a pressure seal.
