Radeon 6650 xt performing worse then 1050ti

Hi, I'm not well versed or knowledgeable when it comes to computer stuff really but I was able to upgrade my GPU and SSD on my build.
I originally had a 1050 TI and a 500g SSD for games "not my SSD I ran windows off of" and I had replaced both.
The GPU with a Radeon 6650 xt and my SSD for games with a 2tb one I found on Amazon.
For some reason my games seem to be performing much slower now that I have the 6650 in and it feels weird.
And yes I did plug it in for power, installed drivers and setup the SSD properly to use it
But when I had the 1050 I was able to at least stream and record overwatch and now with the 6650xt when I tried to record it I was barely getting 90 frames consistently "the game isn't very demanding, it's overwatch"
Is there something else I had forgotten to do or is my GPU somehow just bad???
I did notice a little switch next to the power connection on the GPU but I was unsure as to what it did
I also haven't uninstalled the nVidea drivers since when asking friends I was told I didn't need to
I'm probably going to just end up returning it for something else because this is really disappointing. Any help would be amazing

It seems your switch may be related to the card having a dual bios and the "Performance" mode might be when that switch is to the right.
Some have said that you may have to use DDU and reinstall the drivers in order to see the difference, if indeed that is what the switch does.
If the switch on your specific card does perform that function (low power vs performance) it won't do anything until you reboot the PC.
There is also the possibility, even probability that your CPU is bottlenecking the card significantly, but there still doesn't seem to be a reason it would run worse than a 1050ti.
Finally, a new GPU doesn't rewrite the game code or change the textures, and should you want to use higher settings if any are available, you would need to do so in the games menus and possibly in your Adrenalin software.
One more thing, as you seem to be talking about relatively high frame rates, even at 90, is that with the higher settings you're not going to get high frame rates.
Depending on the game, it could look almost identical, obviously as it's largely the exact same textures, have a few nice tweaks or effects turned on and you would see a lot lower frame rates than if your settings were lower, or even than if you used a "worse" card with much lower settings.

I'll look into the switch on the GPU
and none of the settings on my games changed which is why it feels weird that they are performing at the same quality if not a little worse on the games "by quality I mean smoothness of how they run when there is a lot going on"
I'm leaning towards it's bottlenecking but I saw a decent amount of people online who had my GPU and CPU and saying it runs good or people recommending them on forums so I'm confused there

Your friend is an idiot. Uninstall the Nvidia drivers and fully clean them out, then install the AMD drivers again.

I did that and it still seems to be performing not that well on overwatch, I tried other games and they seem to be performing a little better but nothing too crazy or really noticable. Could this be a CPU problem as I'm running a Ryzen 5 5600g?
FgtBruceCockstar2008@reddit
Just to be sure, you have the display cable connected to the GPU and not the motherboard correct?
You may also want to disable the 5600g's integrated graphics just to be sure.
YaBoyTBG@reddit (OP)
Yes, and I actually just found out about it having integrated graphics and how this CPU does cause bottlenecking issues due to its performance. How would I go about disabling the integrated graphics on the cpu?

Unless you have a specific reason to keep drivers for uninstalled GPUs it might be worth checking if doing so helps.
Might have cause a driver conflict or might not have. I'm pretty strict with DDU ing even the old drivers within one brand but YMMV.
The other thing could be that you got a fake or faulty card. I've had a fake card even from Amazon before, so do your research on fakes of that card and check.

How would I tell if I was given a fake or faulty card? In games it's being registered as that card a long with in my task manager, it just feels weird that this much of an upgrade has me questioning if my old setup was better ðŸ˜

100% driver conflict, you need to run DDU to uninstall all nvidia drivers off your system before installing an AMD card. Once you run DDU put the AMD card back in and head to the manufacturers site to download the AMD Adrenaline software to update graphics card drivers. Your friend is an idiot, type in your problem on google or YouTube and you’ll see a million responses saying RUN DDU BEFORE TRYING TO USE AN AMD CARD ON A SYSTEM THAT HAD AN NVIDIA PRIOR. Do some research man, and don’t give up so quickly
YaBoyTBG@reddit (OP)
I had done research and found mixed responses with a lot of people saying it should be fine without getting rid of the old drivers but only a couple forums saying the DFU fixed their problem. I'll do that and then update you guys but where do I get the software?
HyperionEvo@reddit
Just google and adrenaline download or go to the AMD website and pick your graphics card in the list (model such as mine, id select AMD Radeon 7900gre) and then pick drivers and there will be a download for AMD adrenaline. Some people may have less issues but you no longer have an nvidia so there is no use for the drivers, DDU is easy enough to use and it ensures you’ll have no issues with your switch to a new graphics card. Keep us updated!

I used DDU, uninstalled the old nVidea and AMD drivers then reinstalled the AMD drivers and still isn't running that well, I tried a different game other than overwatch and it ran better then on the old graphics card so it's fs kind of helping but it might be a CPU problem here more or less. I'm running a Ryzen 5 5600g

Your new card should be so much better... Did you plug in your monitor into the AMD GPU...? Just checking so this can be ruled out immediately.
YaBoyTBG@reddit (OP)
Yeah I'm using the display port and the HDMI port off of the GPU, my mother board isn't being used for either of my monitors
