My grandma had to get some sort of routine surgery like 50 years ago and when she woke up she was told she almost died and they had to revive her on the operating table. When she started asking around what the fuck happened all the nurses were like “yeah your surgeon is a known alcoholic you probably shouldn’t have let him do the surgery”

She asked why the hell no one told her that beforehand and they all just kind of shrugged it off and gave excuses. The 70s were wild lol

I remember sometime around '74 or so, my doctor saying something and poking me in the chest. I don't recall what he said because I wasn't listening. I was to entranced by the length of the ash at the end of his cigarette. He talked while the cigarette was dangling out of his mouth, and the ash wouldn't fall off. It must have been close to half the cigarette as ash. 4 year old me was amazed.

sounds like my (27) fiancé (25) when i met her. since then she’s cut back on drinking significantly. it threw me off at first because i grew up getting shit faced in highschool with my friends and cousins. whereas, she didn’t start drinking until she was 21. by 23 i didn’t enjoy alcohol anymore and only drank a few beers socially where she was going out all the time getting plastered when we met.

Yeah it tends to happen that way. Alcohol is fun as all hell the first few times you do it but eventually the novelty wears off and you’re used to the feeling and suddenly it’s not so special anymore.
