PSA's cheapest AR10 is $750 and a complete pile of shit
A quality AR10 will cost you almost $1600+ to build out yourself
Scar 17s are piston driven guns with monolithic uppers, and to get anything like that in an AR10 is like an LWRC REPR MKII which is almost $5000
Said $5000 AR10 is 10.4lbs unloaded and a SCAR17 is 7.9lbs, and I don't know any quality AR10 on the market near that weight.
SCAR17s can be fired while folded and can even accept that sweet ass ACR stock
SCAR17s by default come with a chrome lined barrel

$2750 for an 8lb battle rifle is a fucking steal, especially since they fixed the only annoying part of the SCAR which was the charging handle.

That's one of my biggest complaints against the scar, the scar tax. It doesn't play well with aftermarket, proprietary mags, eats optics and limits what you can run, expensive to feed. The spear has a better stock trigger, takes mags, doesn't feel like a mild concussion anytime you shoot, runs aftermarket stuff fine. Yeah it's more expensive, and I had planned on keeping both of them, but ultimately I just didn't enjoy the scar anymore after having owned the spear.

Plus, with the promo last month you could get them around $35-3600 with a free M17 (or any $600 gun from Sig really), either selling to offset the cost or if you wanted one that was a justification.

SCAR's aren't that expensive to make. The gun is literally designed to be easy/cheap to manufacture at scale given the extruded aluminum upper on a polymer lower. It's just plain overpriced. Especially when it lacks industry standard features such as MLOK at the price point and won't honor warranty is you use a suppressor.

I went with Mars H after much research due to easy to change barrel to 6.5cm and Seekin SP10 come close 2nd. I really wanted the Scar initially, but after doing much research, I decided to go against due to amount to upgrades needed to just get it to be pleasant to shoot and the warranty issue with suppressors. And I was planning to use the scar platform as a dmr for long range anyways, so the weight saving doesnt really offer me anything. Another option I checked out in this price range was the LWRC Repr, the short stroke piston system was kind of interesting to me, however accuracy issue, QC and swapping to 6.5cm down road requiring you buy new upper kind of turned me away. LMT won me over due to cost and ease to change barrel and parts availability.

16s tend to go for about $200-$300 less than their 17 equivalent, from what I've seen. There was a post last week for a camo 16 for $2,500, so if we're lucky we'll see regular versions hit that level as well.
