Procastinate🙃

I don’t understand why I keep procrastinating, no matter how hard I try to overcome it. I always end up delaying tasks, even though I start with good intentions. This habit is affecting my progress, and I really want to improve. Do you have any tips to help me break this cycle?

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. Hopefully, this marks the beginning of small but meaningful steps forward ✌️

Pick a single thing to do for the day. One problem I have is multitasking paralysis.... 10 things need to be done and my mind fragments into trying to do them all.
Do one thing.
And when the urge to click on Twitter or Reddit or YouTube hits you, mutter to yourself "no no stop that" and get back to work. (As I should be doing right now)

Cut out all media, social media, TV, YouTube, Reddit, etc. just do nothing or go sit outside or walk around. If you are bored, leetcode will be more fun than being bored.

I know a lot of adhders struggle with this too

Pomodoro technique worked for me - doing work in short and achievable bursts, then rewarding yourself with a structured break. It may not help with tasks per se, but it may help with flow.

This is something that happens to me a lot, recently I started to use the 5 minute rule and it has helped me quite a bit. Its when you give yourself 5 minutes to sit down and work. 5 minutes is simple anyone can do that no matter how difficult the task is, that' why its so effective. Once your working you've already completed the hard part, getting started. That's why when the 5 minutes are up you'll most likely want to continue working.

This is probably less of a "learn programming" thing and more of a "learn humaning" thing. LifeProTips will have a lot of useful tricks (and a lot of not useful ones too). Search on the web for "productivity" too, of course.
Removing distractions helps a lot. Maybe you don't need to go as extreme as finding a timelock safe to put your phone in, but it couldn't hurt - nothing does damage to productivity like smartphones. When you're blocking off time to work at your computer, consider blocking social media or entertainment websites.
I think this is often sometimes a bit overstated because modern life is very distracting and society has made it harder for everyone to focus on completing tasks. But if it has always been hard for you, and especially if it has always been harder for you than your peers, investigate whether you may have ADHD.
But smartphone detox isn't a bad first step. ;)

Hear music, preferably the ones with no vocals, like polyphia, I'd say any music but then I remember that when I hear songs in my native language it distracts me because I keep trying to understand the meaning of the song, so maybe it's the same with other languages, just go with something that has no voice on it or at least not a lot of comprehensible words

Layout what you need to get done as "tasks". Organize these tasks by priority, and how "long" (i.e. complicated) each will be.
Challenge yourself to finish bundles of these tasks every 1-2 weeks.
Brains like accomplishing things, especially if you can physically see your progress in clear, compartmentalized steps. You can train your brain to enjoy finishing tasks this way.
This is how many companies keep their employees on track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TycLR0TqFA
I find this process very useful for me, as I also struggle with procrastination from time to time.

I go through the same thing, I talk to myself verbally loud to get out of it and get on with my tasks, sometimes it’s difficult and hard to get out of it but making little changes in your day to day can help change that, going for a walk or working out sometimes has helped me sometimes and I feel full of energy to tackle the tasks I have to do.
