Just moved and might be relocating / overthinking my decision

hey y’all. i recently moved to dallas, but im half a mile from the carrollton border. im at the best reviewed complex on vail st and briargrove.
maybe i’m just being neurotic, but i read that the neck of the woods i’m in might not be great, even though optically it seems fine, day and night. the crime grade index for where i am is in the Ds, even though the area i’m in is the highest ranked in far north dallas area… i’m just nervous. i also learned im near what’s called ‘felony row’ by locals here on reddit — marsh and rosemeade.
other sources say addison and carrollton are good spots, and that northwest dallas is the best part to live in. i’m a solo female. have i made a huge mistake?
tldr; anecdotal evidence says i live in a good area, other data says i don’t and i don’t know if i feel safe.

Buy a gun for your own protection if you’re so worried. Take a class if you don’t know how to use it.

Used to live there. Literally nothing happening there. It’s a diverse area, which SOME people incorrectly attribute to being “dangerous,” but in reality it was fine. Literally nothing ever happened. I saw a two cars get in a fender bender once at 5 pm. That’s all.

I’m in Carrollton and i love it. I don’t feel it’s dangerous at all.

you're in a boring area but that's probably the worst i can say about the area

Anecdotal = not necessarily reliable; based on personal experience and not actual facts and research. If you want some anecdotal experience, I don't believe anecdotal evidence online because I've seen that it's usually just made up crap because somebody's mad at whatever they're reviewing.
I used to work in that area. Granted, I'm a guy, but you're fine. If you're that concerned, take a self-defense course and don't take strangers home. Be aware of your surroundings (no matter where you are), but, imho, you're worrying needlessly.

When I first moved here i unknowingly moved into a "second chance" apartment complex (that allows ppl with criminal records) and I was fine even when walking my dogs. Just lock your car/doors/windows and stay aware of your surroundings which you should do everywhere anyway. Also maybe don't look up the crime indexes that much bc they're just going to scare you. I've lived here for 10 years, in a different area every 2 years & I've been fine. Also carrying at least a mini airhorn, stungun, knife, and/or mace helps with peace of mind

So it’s been fine day and night but you’re still reading reviews and worrying? I don’t think moving is the solution, sounds like some anti anxiety meds would help out

I live fairly close to that area and have never had any issues shopping or eating at anyplace around us. I can't speak to the apartment complex itself but the rest of the area is pretty sleepy and calm.
oh I see I basically repeated what you wrote about the rest of the area.. At the end of the day if you don't feel safe there is probably only one way to fix it.

Firstly you're not in a 3rd world country... You're in one of the safest cities in the area. The bad apartment complex that we used to refer to as felony row is called Edge now, at midway and rosemeade and I believe it's technically in Dallas. On next door you're going to see noise complaints, lots of complaints about fireworks and occasionally gun shots but those are relatively few and far between. The closing of the bars nearby like Fox and Hound, Zenna, and whatever the old Shuck turned into at Rosemeade/midway, has settled the area down a bit.
If you're on the Carrollton side off marsh in Silver lake or Crossings at Marsh, it's generally considered more safe due to constant CPD presence and more families due to school zoning.
Just be mindful of your surroundings and don't bring random people home before you really know them. Take a self defense class, buy a gun for home protection if you're worried. But that is standard for anywhere.

The Frankford and PGB area can be sketch. Those apartments over off Kelly especially.

My buddy lived in that area for a year without any issues. He moved when his lease ended a couple months ago because the area was too boring.

There is a new good size self defence pellet pistol you might consider. It has a 50 to 60 foot range. Only if you shot an assault in the eye you could done permant damage. They hurt when get hit with the. Here is a link to a guy testing his. I would expect any indoor range to left you fire it. You do not need a license or permit to own or carry one. https://youtu.be/ORDsJfzL-44?si=UF2nWXT6EZM2SHHF
The most bought system is $380. https://byrna.com/collections/all/products/byrna-sd-non-lethal-self-defense-pistol

I'm pretty sure it's fine. I have friends in Carrollton and Addison, and they are fine. Look specifically for the police response time. If you ever have to call 911, make sure you tell dispatch which city you are in because the cell towers could connect you to either side. Carrollton, Addison, Farmers Branch share a dispatch. Dallas has its own. Just be ready with the exact address. Take normal precautions. Lock your doors and don't leave valuables out in your car. - The bus in Carrollton is safer than driving, in my experience. People are polite, be ready to be nice. Thank your driver.

Firstly, you’re giving away a lot of info online.
Secondly, good reviews of an apt doesnt mean bad things won’t happen to you and vice versa.
Thirdly, you’re in Texas, take a concealed carry course and buy a big scary gun if you’re so scared.
Also felony row? Lmao
