Rough Area?

Howdy! I’m from Oklahoma and planning to spend a week in Dallas to just get away for a bit. I found a budget-friendly place to stay, but after booking a room and looking into it some more, I realized the area might not be the best area. It’s a Studio 6 near I-635 and Skillman.
Just wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with the area or can share any insights. I’m hoping to make sure I’m staying somewhere safe!
Thanks a lot!

I worked at a Starbucks there 20yrs ago and the store never got robbed but I did, while waiting for my ride after close. Had a gun shoved in my face for 3 dollars, and my weekly pound of coffee. It might have gotten better but they closed the starbucks so I doubt it.

My first apartment was over there. In 1999. It was scary then.

I recommend switching hotels. Have fun in Dallas!

Honestly, I would love it if you do stay there, please report back and tell us how it goes.

Looking forward to the AMA after your stay!

There's a ton of budget motels 10 minutes north in Plano right off of 75. Much safer than that war zone.

It's not only a rough area but also the center of a giant construction mess right now. Any roadside motel between OK and DFW would be better.
And if, for some reason, you do decide to stay there anyway, do not even think about walking from your hotel to any places nearby.

The construction ALONE is horrifying

What is it you’re going to do in Dallas? Do you have a car? I’m near DFW and there’s a decent Motel 6 in Euless

Yeah that's actually a very rough area. Not to mention it's not near anything worthwhile.

I have lived in rough areas before and generally shrug off a lot of the fearmongering on this sub… but that is a ROUGH area and a rough motel. I wouldn’t stay there if you paid me. Lots of violent crime, massive encampments, and a lot of unhoused people on hard drugs and with major mental health issues.

Yep. Usually people who post & comment here seem to be afraid of everything and default to saying ALL of actual Dallas is like Skid Row, but it's true for that area. It's not actually as bad as Skid Row though (I've been there).

It was pretty ghetto when I lived out there 15 years ago. I had some crackhead offer to give me some head for a ride downtown. It's like that's their currency!
EnvironmentalLuck515@reddit
Do not stay there.
sameolemeek@reddit
Stay away from there

Brother if there's barbed wire on the fence around your budget American hotel it's time to reconsider.

Studio 6 is basically felon housing that can't pass background checks for apartments.
mike_lowrey214@reddit
It's not the best area. If you can change hotels, I would.
