Trump appealed to the violently unpopular gender affirming care argument, immigration, promised economic change, was anti war. And he did it in a way that obviously reached people. Kamala was installed without a primary because she has the charisma of an old shoe and is coming off of the back of a presidential term where she was the VP on a consistently bad demand side economy and was the border rep for the entire presidency when illegal immigration was running rampant.

Even without a plan an effective promise is better than nothing. Trump ranand knew how to appeal to voters better.
