Mietkow Poland. Great sunrise and great sunset place with food and small quality built marina. One of the very few reservoirs in our area where you can sail. Cannot call myself a sailor with a document but definately a sailor by heart (when you defrost your feet in toilet sink). All the best to those sailing on small and big units. Stay safe.

Frostbite racing series has only just begun.

I sail year round. There is (almost) no bad weather just bad clothing. But let's face it if it's blowing 40 I'm not going out regardless of what month it happens to be.

There is no season finish, there is only one rule.
If you have to bust through ice to get your racing dinghy to navigable water, stop, go back inside and stoke the fireplace, pour yourself a drink, and think about when the ice will thaw.

I'm in California!

I'm British.
Every season is a sailing season, but even then, we're not as mental as the Scandinavians.
AirshipOdin2813@reddit
lol I'm from Italy and here's the same thing (probably just because it's hotter here), we go sailing with lasers even the week before Christmas
wkavinsky@reddit
Seems to be an American thing.
zoinkability@reddit
Here in the US upper midwest the season ends because the water gets hard.

Is it related to weather and cold? Or insurance?
wkavinsky@reddit
North Norway, Sweden and Canada are the only countries with "cold" excuses - their marina's literally freeze over every year.
Otherwise? *Shrug*, who knows.

I've sailed a dinghy in snow several times. Crewed for a very gung ho helm maybe 15 years ago and ended up with hypothermia after he dunked us twice.
My current boat has a heater and nice warm bed and I definitely prefer sailing in this one!

Year round here on Oahu! Spoiled for sure.
danielt1263@reddit
Seriously. Here if Florida, the season is just starting. It's too hot, and not enough wind, during the summer.

Our boat is headed there, from TX, next week
SORC here we come!
the-montser@reddit
What boat? I just delivered a boat for SORC last week and will be racing all season. See you there!

Enchanted, the Solaris 44. Not sure if we're going to do Lauderdale to KW yet. Who are you racing with?
TuckItInThereDawg@reddit
nothing better than the laser
Skiera@reddit
Great boat.
roehnin@reddit
No season where I live, boat is at the pier year-round
millijuna@reddit
Sailor of the Salish Sea here... Winter sailing is the best sailing. Just keep the kerosene heater going down below and a pot of tea on the stove, and life is lovely even if there are a couple of inches of snow on deck (or more realistically heavy rain).
arbitrageME@reddit
Season finishes Dec 31 and starts Jan 1 here in California
feastu@reddit
Disagree. I take the day after my birthday off.
CulpablyRedundant@reddit
Great shot! Looks like a beautiful place to sail
