Question about a solo weekend trip to Dallas?

43F here. I live in a small town in Texas and I’m thinking of doing a solo weekend trip to Dallas or Fort Worth. I’ve been working a lot and I just want to pamper myself and relax. What hotel do you recommend? Pls don’t say motel 6 hehe
I was thinking of checking in on a Friday night then checking out Monday. I would like to check out the area and walk around outside the hotel. I’m not huge on hiking. Maybe walking around shops but I don’t really need to splurge on shopping and I definitely like art museums and history stuff so that would be great. I’m more of a morning person. I also don’t do drink alcohol but I do like live music. I’m also a foodie. I heard there’s a ballet theatre as well.
I just really want to make myself feel good.
Fuck work.

Downtown is really a crap shoot though. Homeless and druggies lying around. Aggressively panhandling. Shops and boutiques locked shatter you have to knock for security to let you in so they don’t get wandering fentanyl heads off the street in the stores. It’s a freaking mess downtown. I’d stay somewhere else. They Adolphus is dangerous as well they have a lot of internal issues with staff doing things to guests and that’s all I’ll say. Go stay in las calinas or some fancy neighborhood uptown not the crack den of downtown.

So just stay somewhere uptown and drive to the art museum?

Highly recommend the Joule or the JW Marriott! Both are downtown and very walkable to the Arts District where you'll find everything you mentioned above, museums, several performance halls and dance theatres, etc etc. The Joule has a great spa & dining too (love Sassetta!). Lots of shopping and great restaurants around both locations. The JW is a brand new property. The Adolphus hotel is really lovely too but on the pricey end.
(I see the Fairmont recommended which is in the same area, but it's a really outdated property for what's supposed to be a high end brand. I wouldn't stay there myself)

I saw photos of the fairmont and thought the same thing!

The joule

I'm pretty sure that I've never seen a Motel 6 in DFW. That's more of a small town thing.

What
Heinz0033@reddit
Stay at the Joule. It's a fantastic hotel in the business district. It's a medium walk to Deep Ellum for fun (or a cheap Lyft). Go to the aquarium. Might seem hokey, but it's a great time.

Joule for spa, Zaza spa is good too. Gaylord would be fun if you want more of a “get to the hotel and never have to leave the hotel” experience. For other downtown hotels, I second the Fairmont, also the Adolphus would be nice! Especially during the holidays.
Definitely seconding the comment about the Meyerspn, DMA, Klyde Warren, and also the Perot.

Go to the Gaylord! It’s amazing and you can chill out in Fort Worth Stockyards. Lots of things to do!
Also, Gaylord will start having stuff the holidays.

Is that a hotel? I’m gonna google that hehe

It’s part of Marriott. They have one in Nashville too. You’ll love it there. They have a few in house restaurants too. Their ICE show is a must to do during Christmas if you are around and haven’t done.

The Joule and get some of their spa treatments.

Several hotels in Frisco by the star that are super reasonable and have tons of shopping and dining

The Drover in the Stockyards in Fort Worth looks cool. I’ve never stayed there, but I’ve been there for dinner and drinks and an event.

Drover is great! I stayed there solo in August. Tons of restaurants and entertainment that you can walk to.

Stay at the Fairmont in Dallas Arts District. Pamper yourself with their in house spa, plenty of restaurants on the property and nearby. This also puts you walking distance or very short uber ride to Dallas Museum of Art, Klyde Warren, Myerson Stmphony and Winspear Theatre and other attractions.

Gaylord is a great idea at the holidays. It is in Grapevine. You could also stay at the Westin at the Galleria. You could look around that mall for shopping. There are many restaurants near that area, and the Westin has some great restaurants.
