UMM Alter

The Alter was tough, simple, and rather capable off-road. The front axles are live and the rear is on leaf springs attached to a steel ladder chassis, and a simple angular body kept construction (and repair) costs low.

Eight different engines were offered, from a 75 bhp, 2.5 litre NA diesel up to a 150 bhp, 3.0 V6 petrol which I think are all Peugeot engines? The 2.5 litre turbodiesels were the most common. As well as civilian sales, Alters were and still are in use with fire departments and civil defence units etc as well the Portuguese military.

These are my own images from Lisbon.
