Velopoulos
Smooth-Inspector-391@reddit
throwaway082122@reddit
Recently discovered her. As a conservative, she seems interesting. Also, just going to call a spade spade. She’s hot as fuck lol
SomeOneOutThere-1234@reddit
That’s the power of what plastic surgery and IG filters can do.
Also, she’s not a conservative; she’s using it as a façade, since she’s coming from a Papadopoulos junta fanboy background. Which is a massive red flag, as Papadopoulos was a Neonazi.
Reference-Grouchy@reddit
and what does what people in her family tree did got to do with her being a conservative or not?
Smooth-Inspector-391@reddit
Also huge fan of dictator Metaxas, same category basically
throwaway082122@reddit
Is this the same Metaxas that said “fuck you” to fascist Italy and Germany?
Smooth-Inspector-391@reddit
The same, however it's more complicated than that.
Metaxas was a supporter of the other authoritarian parties of that era, had also similar party structure with Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy Party ( salute, youth party and military parades).
He was though smart enough to try to remain neutral during ww2, and when forced, to choose the right side of the history (seeking Brittish support).
Nevertheless his rule was just another dictatorship, far from the democratic values, imprisoning anyone with a different opinion.
Anastasia_of_Crete@reddit
Metexas would likely consider her a complete fool as he would most of the modern Greek far right, especially the neo-nazis who don't know anything about him aside from liking the aesthetics of his regime as it was somewhat pseudo-fascist in flair
He was a man that put himself above politics, and political parties, he was true to the "aristocratic ideal" he talked and wrote so much about and his Prussian education and reverence of 'Kultur'.
He didn't care about populism, or placating the whims and feelings of every fool in the country or trying to appease and pander to the "common man" he didn't consider himself answerable to the people, or any popular feelings, but only his King and nation.
No doubt he would view the Greek far right as a bunch of moronic eccentric, crass populists, riding the flows of foreign trends
They are not in the same category at all, Metexas is in another realm, no politician today has anything to do with him as he was from another time and place completely with little resemblance to today.
throwaway082122@reddit
Are you sure the junta was Nazi? I learned that they were largely hard right similar to Metaxas.
SomeOneOutThere-1234@reddit
The philosophy that he created and later evolved to the now banned political party “Golden Dawn”, is indeed undoubtedly a Neo Nazi organisation. Papadopoulos was a collaborator with the Nazi authorities back in WWII and it is without doubt in this day that his agenda was a carbon copy of 1930s Germany. He later went on to found several neonazi groups in Greece via proxies while in prison, with the most notable being the EPEN, which was eventually highly interconnected with Rassemblement Nationale in France (LePen) and MSI in Italy (Successor of Mussolini’s party, current successor is the ruling FdI).
throwaway082122@reddit
Learned something new today, thank you!
AlegusChopChop@reddit
Say whatever you want about Trump, he is at least a legitimate businessman. Velopoulos is just a retarded charlatan who made money by selling bullshit to low IQ peasants. He is in a way a fight wing PASOK, a populist who makes promises of easy money, only instead of borrowing money from Europe and giving it away to their groupies in the public sector, he claims he will do it through selling national resources...
SomeOneOutThere-1234@reddit
I don’t think that Trump has been a legitimate businessman since 2000 at least. All of the weird stuff that he’s sold (like the Trump Bibles or the Trump Sneakers) and the frauds that he has done with Trump University, I believe that they’re not far off from Velopoulos’ letters from Jesus or anti corona ointments.
AlegusChopChop@reddit
Yeah, he is cringy as well but still far better compared to Velopoulos.
MegasKeratas@reddit
No, Velopoulos is in a category of his own. Does Trump sell Jesus' one time offer exclusive epistles?
I didn't think so.
Infinite_Procedure98@reddit
George Simion. President of the nationalist populist right-wing party AUR (Aliance for the Unity of Romania). I'm not saying it, He's saying it: "Me president, I'd be Romania's Trump and make Romania great again". He is for extreme liberal policies, nationalism, orthodoxism, revisionism. His stance about Russia is dubious, all accuse him of being a Russian spy, he says he's "the greatest ennemy of Russia". I can't make my mind about what is true.
I would characterize him as "Trump in misery" but well, my opinion.
Ceralbastru@reddit
I would not call him a very faithful Orthodox. It is just for the show.
MihaiBravuCelViteaz@reddit
I wouldnt call a massive cheap housing project as "extreme liberal".... The USR on the other hand who want to privatize healthcare and education would definitely fit as extreme liberal
Infinite_Procedure98@reddit
I see what you're coming from. Right for USR. But Simion litterally said we should cut susbsudies for modest people and retraitees because everybody is on their own.

Măi, exact aşa: "Votați pentru mine, voi fi Donald Trump-ul României. Make Romania great again"
Commie_Vladimir@reddit
On a more local level I'd also say Nicolae Robu, former mayor of Timisoara. 5 years after first losing the local elections he still whines about how the current mayor (Dominic Fritz) is ruining the city and how much better it would be with him as mayor. Also sometimes starts rambling about woke ideology and the like. And at 70 years old he refuses to step out of politics and retire.
Anonymous_ro@reddit
Literally him:

Trump if he was a secret services shill and poor :))

no one. Though I consider donald trump to be americas erdogan
Ok_Artist2279@reddit
Immediately going to text this to my Turkish best friend to make him laugh. He agrees 🤣
Prize_Self_6347@reddit
Donald Trump isn't nearly as religious as RTE is (or claims to be). Trump is much more openly indifferent about religion than Erdogan.
It makes a lot of sense as well, since Trump grew up luxuriously in mid 20th century NYC, while Erdogan was selling simit on the streets of Istanbul.
31_hierophanto@reddit
Yeah, unlike Trump, Erdo actually commits to the "I'M RELIGIOUS AS FUCK" bit by doing Quran recitations in public. I can't see DJT doing that unironically.
Another_WeebOnReddit@reddit
Erdogan is worse than Trump, at least trump is anti-illegals, Erdogan on other hand let 20 million illegal Arabs in.

Samaras just kicked out from government party ND. But in the terms of stupidity, more closer Velopoulos.
Darezi@reddit
There isn't anyone like that anywhere in the Balkans!
SirDoodThe1st@reddit
We don’t have an exact match for him in our country, but the closest one i can think of is Miroslav Škoro.
Celebrity (singer) turned politician who almost got into the 2nd round of the 2020 presidential election. He started a right wing populist anti establishment party (that’s currently in government lol), and advocated for more power to be given to the president (who otherwise serves a mostly ceremonial role). I’m not that comfortable calling him “Croatia’s Trump” because he quickly became irrelevant and left his own party, but otherwise he’s the closest one i can think of
eracesko@reddit
Milorad Dodik
Thalassophoneus@reddit
Kyriakos Velopoulos. But the New Democracy government in overall isn't far either.
Anastasia_of_Crete@reddit
The Greek left is just as "MAGA" like as the Far-right . A political environment fueled by drama, conspiracy, sensationalism, empty promises, populism, illiberalism, grievance, emotion, vagueness, 'Truthiness' - 'Big lies' - personal branding, half-truths, falsehoods... Labeling anything they don't like as "Fake news" (how many times have we seen here MiTSoTakIs CoNtrOls tHe MedIa, or even publications outside the country being accused of having a positive ND agenda when ever they write something that isn't dreadful.) of course that also ties into their outrage media (Documento, press project etc) of course anti-vax etc etc etc etc etc etc
The only difference between Trumpian Americans and the Greek left is the lack of national conservatism and nationalism but in mentality they are basically the same thing and use the same tactics and practices politically. Mitsotakis under ND is the furthest thing away from Trumpism in Greece, maybe Adonis can be considered in that realm, but Mitsotakis himself is not like Trump at all. He is an establishment politician who is the most boring neoliberal imaginable
throwaway082122@reddit
I was gonna say. Varoufakis got the cult following that Trump got with saying wacky stuff that has no basis in reality sprinkled in with some truth and I have a dose of anti-establishment. The only difference is he is a leftist.
Thalassophoneus@reddit
The Greek left doesn't wish to actively opress human rights nor does it glorify the rich. You really need to rethink how your horseshoe theory works.
GoHardLive@reddit (OP)
Imagine if a person like Velopoulos or Adonis takes control of our country
Anastasia_of_Crete@reddit
He did, his name was Alexis Tsipras
Thalassophoneus@reddit
You are all over the place.
Prize_Self_6347@reddit
Adonis has said that, were he an American citizen, he'd have voted for Donald Trump "with both hands" in 2016.
AnonimAnonim22233@reddit
I would say that Trump acts like a Balkan politician, he is populist, promises things that are feasible, is appointing corrupt sycophants to key positions(such Gaetz), not based on competence.
He is trying to replace public servants with his, based only on loyalty to the party. He is appointing his family, he disregards democracy.

Berlusconi. Same problems with the justice system (many rightfully so other because of the corruption of judges), he was a billionaire as well, but he liked pussy more than Trump.
Bit too much tò be honest.
Vaseline13@reddit
In terms of celebrity status, no one.
In terms of political ideology and general behavior, I'd say Velopoulos. Though he's considered more of a small-time clown, if anything.
Chewmass@reddit
That small-time clown is slowly gaining popularity though, since the majority of right wingers become frustrated with ND. We shouldn't neglect that.
GoHardLive@reddit (OP)
We might see him in the goverment through coalition after 2027
Anastasia_of_Crete@reddit
Latinopoulou's party will over take him most likely so it might actually be her as well. Though New Democracy can switch leadership make overtures to the right and avoid the need for a coalition all together, especially if someone like Denidas ends up as leadership. (he would easily surpass over 40%)
GoHardLive@reddit (OP)
Latinopoulou was kicked out of Nea Dimokratia some years ago so i doubt she will ever wanna cooperate with them again
Anastasia_of_Crete@reddit
as of right now, same with Velopoulos neither would form a coalition with ND, both would require Mitsotakis stepping down and a leadership change which both can then market as a "positive impact" and "correction" of ND
Chewmass@reddit
I think this is quite plausible.
MickJof@reddit
Geert Wilders
