Hi. Got some maintatence done with the boat, nothing serious, filters and oil change. Looking here at reddit were expecting quote for about 400-500 euro. This is that I received, kind of surprised. From the list what is in your opinion questionable?

Volvo Pentas are expensive for parts and service, that's just how it is. Add on what appears to be a 25% tax, plus the "marina fee", and this is pretty much what I would expect to pay in a yachtie area. Can it be done cheaper? Yes of course, but you will have to DIY, or take the boat elsewhere. You would pay a similar amount in Newport, Palma, or Ft Lauderdale. Shop around or reduce the scope of the service, and get a quote in advance if you dont like the numbers.

I'm not Croatian, no idea about Croatia. But some of the items do look made up to me. What is a service set? What are consumables (google translate) POTROSNI MATERIJAL? 83euros for oil? Bit expensive... Damn there is a lot of tax on servicing a boat in Croatia.... Marina tax? what's that for? EKO tax? hm.. In the UK I would expect oil / oil filter / air filter, labour. That's it.

I assume the service set is the same as a service kit. But if so why have they charged for extra filters. If a service kit doesn’t include filters all that’s really left is an impeller and some disposable gloves.

Yes the service set matching that part number is here: https://www.podmarine.com/product/volvo-penta-service-kit-21189426/
This Kit (photo for illustration only) contains:
Oil filter Fuel filter Impeller and all necessary gaskets.
They have then charged additional line items for more filters for some reason

Spares to keep on hand?
That'd be a pretty responsible thing to do for an owner who doesn't do their own service, so if the first one needs replacing it's on hand?

True, looks like a mess. Marina tax is for any trader who enters the area. Have no idea what they mean by service set, google search shows that it is probably pump, oil and filter, which is strange. 83+25% on top, 10 litres.

Out marina charges about £8 per day for trades people not 100!

Marina tax in Skradin Croatia is 100eur/day.
Usually trades have deals with Marinas and pay fixed fee per annum.

Hey it's Croatia. A holiday region where you're billed through your nose for anchoring in random coves.
1000$ plus for an engine service? No surprise, unfortunately.

Wow. Learn how to do it yourself, you’ll save a lot of money. Yanmar Service Kit was £100, 5L of yanmar oil was £50. Antifreeze was £12.95. Only specialist tools I have bought are a 6 litre vacuum oil pump and a filter removal tool.
The is an RYA diesel maintenance course. It sounds like that would soon pay for itself.
