It's kind of too bad Beavis and Butthead never commented on "Fight For Your Right To Party"

They did a lot of other Beastie Boys videos and generally loved them.....but oh how they would love this one so much. And it would be the source of great lines.

it's possible they tried at some point. they had to clear some of the videos/artists and at that time, Beasties were actively looking to distance themselves from that era and song as much as possible.

That's true, and I think that many fans(including yours, truly) completely missed the point of the song. The Beasties were making fun of this type of male attitude and behavior. Despite it all, it became their most(if not one of their most) successful single(s), ever. I wish they wouldn't have more or less disowned it. I can understand them condemning that type of mindset and behavior, but it IS a great track. "Brass Monkey" started the ball rolling for them, but this song cemented their stardom and success.

"Fight for Your Right" is super funny! "Brass Monkey" is just disturbing

I could see that for the Spanish Fly reference. Other than that, they're just talking about loving Brass Monkey. I'd truly love to hear why you feel it's disturbing. Not angry. Just curious.

It's not just a reference to the Spanish Fly; half the song is about drugging a girl's drink so that she'll have sex with him.

Well, good point. I mean, I love The Beastie Boys, I love that song, but that practice is abhorrent. Hopefully, they didn't actually do that. I mean, desiring girls and sex is understandable, but that sort of thing never is.

Oh I'm sure they didn't. You can write a song/book/script/etc. about something despicable without supporting it. Think of Stephen King.

Generally speaking, the music videos they did were sort of niche. I feel “Fight For Your Right” would have been too mainstream.
I don’t know if those were Mike Judge’s personal picks or MTV’s. Again, I feel if it were the latter, the boys would totally have roasted that song in an episode🤘🏼

I don't know, they've done some pretty big videos! Like "Safety Dance"

Butthead: We can have a party like we're old with punch but add Spanish Fly and get chicks! Whoa huh he huh huh that's cool.
Beavis: Yes Yes we're gonna score! Boyoyoying!
