Friday night playing some Mechwarrior 2 on the Windows 95 PC.

Great way to take a break from game dev.

There are a number of abandonware sites used to check, lately they've been taking a lot of stuff down though because of places like GOG. If all else fails I can always hoist the jolly Rodger.

I used to play on the dialup Mechnet back in the day. I totally spent $300 getting a Pentium 3 workstation on Ebay and setting it all up just to play Mechwarrior 2 again.

I scour eBay looking for old hardware I had back in the day. Sometimes you get lucky.

Looks like the og version of new. That'd be for dos. Though there was a version for win95 and voodoo, I think it was the titanium edition. I got some beta copies of both, and ghost bear around here somewhere. Lol.

Oh man, I used to love MechWarrior 2 until I figured out a configuration that seemed to be unbeatable, at least by the A.I. You take the little two-legged runner (the Nova?) and load it up with lasers and heat sinks. You can constantly run and fire without ever running out of ammunition or overheating.

Sure in school I had played oregon trail, simant, and stuff like that. I played the absolute shit out of those games.
