I'm sure this conversation has been done to death but I thought I'd see what options we get, If you had little to no money and you needed something to get you around, what are y'all reaching for? My younger cousin is starting to drive now so the topic is kind of fresh in my head. I suppose to I'll set some parameters so we are all on the same page It should be relatively cheap. Low running costs. Reliable. Easy to work on. And ideally a little fun to drive. My pick is the EU8 the 5 door hatch ep civic it comes with the d16 like the ep2 but are much cheaper and you get your honda reliability and they are as easy as can be to work on!

Honda fit!

I have a 99 Camry that would be your perfect daily driver. It's the V6 with only 19k miles. The car is in awesome condition, even the interior looks new and only the driver's seat has ever been sat in.
I'd intended to keep it for my daughter, but she doesn't need it - it's in Maryand for sale if anyone wants it!

Old high mileage Lexus. It’ll have some decent features while still being reliable.

Great choice, though they mostly got naturally aspirated v6 engines that are extremely inefficient. My is 250 was fun and powerful but drank 16 liters per 100 km during winter..

Get a sub 2.5k beater minivan and gut the back. Save a row of seats, toss 'em somewhere in the garage, put 'em back if you need 'em.
It's an innocuous hauler, gets you from point A to point B, cheap to insure, easy to maintain. Ideal for young people, 'cause that's usually when you move a lot. Also ideal for picking up freebies on sites like Offerup and Craigslist.
Young people need a reliable hauler.

Honda Civic for sure. Corollas and Camrys are similar in reliability but the Toyota Tax increases with the cars age.
If you don't care about fuel economy, comfort, or rust, and just want ubiquitous parts, practicality, and dirt cheap insurance, a Ford Fucken Ranger is also a top pick.
