Enjoying the cheap rates running hard while being poor?

Okay. Lets do some fucking math. 7 mpg on 3.5 VERY HIGH END per gallon fuel is $.5/mile fuel. $150. So down to $550 a day. $.2cpm set aside for maintenance, means $60 a day for that so $490 now. Truck and all insurances is all together $3700 a month. Divide that by 4.3 for weeks in a month then by 5 for 5 days a week = $173 a day. So now down to $317 a day. 5 days a week. $1500. Don’t get mad at those of us who run the numbers on what we can do and haven’t over leveraged ourselves. You got started in 2018? Sounds to me like you had 1 year O/O experience and expanded during Covid on high interest rates. And you know what is crazy, in Texas I can have a team run 900 miles in a day. 3 loads. $700 a load. So that means $317 a day per load. So wow. $951 a day. Pay my guys 70cpm and they are getting $315 a day each. And I’m still making $321 into my pocket. PER DAY. I know what i can run. I know what my drivers want. I’m not picky about pay because I’m running at 2.33 a mile and that works for me. No broker. No dispatch. Nothing. Just me calling shippers and talking with them directly. You on the other hand give your drivers 571 miles a day each to get them $400 minimum at 70cpm. Idk your truck payments or insurance nor your maintenance. But your fuel I do know. 9/10 trucks are getting 7mpg on average. Fuel is 3.5/gallon if you fuel smartly and look for good prices near you and fuel before going to expensive areas. 50cpm for fuel so that’s another $285/driver per shift. So another $571 on top of the 800 you pay your guys daily. So $1371/d. lets say your insurance and payment on each truck comes out to 4k a month. So 4.3wks per month on average. Let’s say your guys run 6 days a week. Thats another $155 a DAY for those bills. So now $1526. Oh. But we forgot maintenance costs. Again, running 571 miles per shift and a generous 02cpm for maintenance that is $228.4. That is $1724 A DAY. Wow, golly. Thats a lot. But lets not forget your pay for being an owner. A low measly 50cpm that would be an additional $571 a day! Just under $2300 A DAY! Per Truck! You only need $2.02 as your baseline for expenses. On just this estimate. That’s 10CPM less than I need for your drivers to get the same pay my guys get! So don’t fucking tell me this market is hard. Don’t tell me that no one can make money here. You want $1000 minimum a load? Fine. Get it. Go make $3/m. But don’t you fucking dare call my income gross because I want my drivers home every other fucking day. Maybe don’t lifestyle inflate based on a rare market motion and a once in a very, very long time market style.
