Hi there, any good Korean restaurants in the city centre you’d recommend, if they have halal and/or vegetarian options also would be great

Akasaka, it's fantastic.

I've not heard of there being any here, eager to be proven wrong though!

From what I’ve seen there is one but it’s takeaway only I think, don’t think it’s got a sit down option which isn’t great for my plans whilst I visit

To be honest I’ve not even seen a takeaway one! Any idea what it’s called?

Crispy Seoul, wish I knew someone that was there rn that could check if it is take out only as it isn’t clear from Google

Ahhhh Crispy Seoul (and Seoul Chicken) are both ghost kitchens so deffo take out only, and deffo not authentic. Crispy Seoul is ran out of a burger place I think, near the post office

I appreciate you, I had a feeling but do wanna try it one day if I can, the other place I saw which I don’t think is halal is Akasaka and that looks a bit more authentic, but does have some vegetarian options which I don’t mind and they also do kimchi which I’m excited to try

To be fair I’ve had Seoul Chicken (they make the same food under different names I think) and it is delicious, just not authentic 😅 I’ve not been to Akasaka but I’ve heard good things!

This is gonna sound like a dumb question but how do you know when a place is authentic or not? Is it flavour wise or what they have on the menu or don’t have? Just super curious to know and learn

Oh because it’s a ghost kitchens, it’s another place that just runs different takeaways. It’s run out of a Fireaway pizza shop that also does burgers under the name 12th Street Burger. Nothing wrong with it but it’s really just a chicken burger with Kim chi

Ngl a chicken burger with kimchi actually sounds very interesting and kind of tasty at the same time, have you managed to try that one yet?
vivalaalice@reddit
It’s been a couple of years but I used to order it a lot! May have charged since

How do you tell that it’s authentic or not, is it the taste, the way the food looks, or what they offer or don’t offer on the menu? Since you’ve heard good things about it it’s got me excited to try it if my friend agrees to the idea, also any other food spots worth mentioning that are good that you’ve tried?
