I hate when people decide to switch lanes without looking.

This morning I was driving to work, and I had just gotten off the highway onto my exit. This specific exit has two lanes, and the right lane eventually ends. I was in the right lane at the beginning of the exit, and someone in their Cadillac who is already in the left lane decides to just drive into me in the lane I'm occupying, so I braked and swerved onto the shoulder. This guy proceeds to pullover, and screams f*uck you while driving away and flipping me off. Making a mistake I can understand, but acting entitled to driving like a moron is ridiculous and will get you or someone else killed.

And not only without looking, but you gotta love when people do it WITHOUT SIGNALING
Seriously, the turn signal stalk is right there; USE IT!
Necro_the_Pyro@reddit
People who don't use their turn signals are LITERALLY not willing to lift a finger for everyone's mutual safety. It's so stupid.

My mother does this shit and it pisses me off. She also ROLLS through stop signs. Straight up doesn’t stop sometimes. In fact, not a month ago, she ran through a red light and almost got us hit. I don’t allow her to drive anymore
silvermoonhowler@reddit
Yeah, I don't get it!
It takes not even a second to do!
What I also hate is those who accidentally leave it on too

Probably too busy texting and jerking off. Can't use your knee to signal. I've driven before with just one hand because the other was bleeding while heading to the hospital to get stitches from a work accident and I still managed to use the turn signals properly.

Shit - Seniors are equally guilty with this. My mum never uses hers, just moves over after barely checking her blind spots. Drives me mad. And never fazes her a bit.
She's old - is her excuse. Well.... she nearly took out a few fenders over time, like many on the roads today

I think there’s another factor to this that folks haven’t considered: driving schools now teach people to adjust their mirrors in a way that makes blind spots larger, so if they don’t do a head check, it’s even worse than sit used to be. When my daughter was learning I was flabbergasted that the advice was to have the side mirror set so she could see her own bumper in them. I remember the guys from “Car Talk” saying that the mirrors should be set so that anything behind you only is visible in one mirror at a time.

I am so thankful of the dual mirrors on my truck. I get to adjust one to cover the side, and the other to look straight back. Having the one straight back really helps backing up since you can look at the sightline created by the edge of the body of your car, and it points right at whatever you're aiming at in reverse. Makes it really easy to back up very precisely, great for parallel parking or squeezing into spaces in east coast city parking lots that never changed from horse drawn buggy width.

Shoot - the instructor's course I was supposed to graduate from taught student's to 'lean' their head to the brief right of the wheel as they adjusted the left mirror. Then resume straight, so the mirror angle captured most of the passing side off their left, instead-of the edge bumper to the left of the vehicle like WE were correctly taught. Making me SMH, as they struggled more with that than the correct placement of straight back left side blind view...

I had someone come within inches of hitting me a few days ago. No look, no signal. It's not like I was hard to see either, in my F350 I have a feeling the entire field of view out the guy's smaller car's window was taken up. Still had to blow my horn and drive onto the median to avoid it. The only redeeming factor was the guy pulled up next to me at the next light and apologized; which was so unusual that I told him it was fine since we didn't hit just please remember to look and signal in the future.
izeek11@reddit
i want that spot. fuck you.
Fair_Reflection2304@reddit
I do as well but I also think it may not always be on purpose.
Sufficient_Prompt888@reddit
That doesn't make it better, if anything it's worse
cugrad16@reddit
Like the asshats who near take your fender as they barely pass you, giving the angry possessive look, while running the next red light, then whipping the right corner like a psycho
Shark_bait561@reddit
Look, blinkers, look, change lanes
TotalWeb2893@reddit
Also, he should be thankful you aren’t a new driver.
FloralPorcelain@reddit
Yes these same people rely on everyone around them to be a defensive driver yet causes so much danger for no reason other than ignorance
JohnnyD423@reddit
You're allowed to say "fuck." And if you aren't, you shouldn't try to bypass auto-mod filters.
Narrow-Effective-995@reddit (OP)
I wasn't trying to censor fuck, it was automatically on my spell check so I just clicked that spelling of it.
JohnnyD423@reddit
You have your phone set to automatically replace "fuck" with "f*uck"?
Narrow-Effective-995@reddit (OP)
No, the app on my phone generates different ways to spell words (even incorrectly), so when I type in a word it occasionally will automatically select the first option.
colaroga@reddit
The worst is when someone next to you attempts switching lanes at the same time as you are, after already doing a shoulder check, so I hold off until the lane is clear before trying again. It's too bad that cars in North America don't come with aspherical mirrors that show the entire blind spot.
Jango_Fresh@reddit
And people always wonder why I am constantly passing people or backing off. I do this until I find the nearest stretch of "empty" as I can and then I STAY there until it becomes too crowded or until i reach where I'm going, and the cycle repeats.
I drive with "stay the fuck away from me" as my main goal lmao.
Bushpylot@reddit
They weren't switching lanes. They were answering a text
Electronic_War1616@reddit
You must not be a delivery driver...lol. .Saying that because when you drive all day, you see some messed up stuff. "Stay alert, stay alive "
Narrow-Effective-995@reddit (OP)
I actually was a delivery driver for two years prior to becoming a case manager. I even got hit a few times, but this was more so a rant
Protholl@reddit
That driver is first cousin to "that's my exit", second cousin to "I turn now good luck you" and a distant relative of IDGAF. Too many NPCs daydreaming, etc.
Dry-Faithlessness184@reddit
Since he didn't look he probably assumed you moved to block him because you 'weren't there'.
An ass nonetheless, since you need to look to know that.
