AP initialization before microcode loading error
Posted by genocidal-jew@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 9 comments
I just upgraded my motherboard to the rog strix x570 e and now it wont post. Its giving me the error code 2 for AP initialization before microcode loading. I have no idea what this means and all other posts i can find about this error are about people trying to use ryzen cpus without a graphics card, and I am using a graphics card.
Other specs are ryzen 3600, rx 590, g. skill trident 2x8gb 3600mhz ram, evga 600 BR psu
Thanks in advance for any help

Yeesh, I just spent 20 minutes looking that up. Could be a lot of things.
What I can't seem to find anywhere is just what that means. What is AP initialization? Microcode is obviously on the CPU itself. It's almost as if it's some kind of security thing. The microcode should load first?
Tough one, maybe Asus can help.

Well I tried all of that, but the only thing to get it to post was plugging in a keyboard. Didnt think that was essential to post but I guess it was? Thanks for your input

My issue was also the Keyboard. Tried a different one and now it works. I never would have guessed.
Thank

my damn man.
You saved me I don't know how many hours.
I have this build from 2020 or something, and today it just didn't start.
Looked in the manual, saw basically no use, found this post and unplugged-replugged the keyboard.
It just works.
I still think there's some sort of black magic in building these things

So I read all the previous comments. Plugged in my wired keyboard.
Still getting the 02 diag code.
I tested this wired keyboard with my laptop and it's responding fine so I know the keyboard is functional and this isn't the issue.
I will continue to investigate.
