JackORobber@reddit
Well Worf does have a fancy sash that no one else has, but what's with the dots on everyone's collars?
Kitchen_Succotash_74@reddit
Heh. I was just thinking this as well. Worf's logic tracks with the sash, but the obviously ranked-nature of the pips would be pretty hard to ignore.
Though, I guess 1 pip could be higher rank than 4, in some systems?
And that sash does look pretty bad ass... 🤔
IR0NWARRIOR@reddit
I too am decorated
SendAstronomy@reddit
I don't think your nose-ring counts.
IR0NWARRIOR@reddit
It's a quote from the show from Worf dummy. And I most certainly don't have any sort of rings at all
Throwaway_inSC_79@reddit
Ro has an earring. That must mean something.
suchdogeverymeme@reddit
It’s on the “gay ear”
davesToyBox@reddit

Intergalacticdespot@reddit
It means she can't follow dress code protocols!
JackORobber@reddit
Married or Engaged?
cweaver@reddit
Worf won the crew beauty pageant, obviously.
JackORobber@reddit
Of course, how could I be so stupid
save-aiur@reddit
He is also large and could simply eat the others, so he must be the leader.
mcgrst@reddit
It's just corn.
YnrohKeeg@reddit
Mr. Mot. He knows exactly what to do in every situation.
Double_Scale_9896@reddit
Chief O'Brien
Defiant-Analyst4279@reddit
His attitude is clearly the result of dealing with incompetent underlings.
redbanner1@reddit
But you don't know of his brilliance.
colostitute@reddit
Was there really any other option?
irreverenttraveller@reddit
He is the most important man in history. So much suffering tho!
cereeves@reddit
Being married to Keiko will do that to a man.
Affectionate-Cut4828@reddit
This is the answer
LoriLawyer@reddit
My immediate thought as well!

The best commander of Voyager and Atlantis.
SendAstronomy@reddit
"Nice touch with the pips."
Spiritual_Adagio_859@reddit
The emergency command hologram...has exceptional bedside manner!
ThrowAwayehay@reddit
I like how the actual guy who created the hologram/based it on himself is a massive dick but the hologram is so meek and helpful.
ReubenTrinidad619@reddit
Hell yeah
niquehorn@reddit
Non-bridge?
In TNG I might believe Guinan to be our wise Queen, residing in her royal chambers of Ten Forward.
On Voyager the Doctor comes to mind, being the only one without a single pip on his collar which makes him stand out and being the one in control of the chamber of life and death.
In TOS it's have to be the first one to die, because naturally any life form with half a brain would aim for the head of our team.
DS9 is truly tough to make out with al these people around... But my money is on Morn, since his silence speaks volumes.
SendAstronomy@reddit
The Doctor did command the ship for an episode, and was fantastic at it.
henryeaterofpies@reddit
She has the largest hat, so she must be important
deowolf@reddit
What are we, Catholic?
henryeaterofpies@reddit
Biggest hat, closest to God
VuckoPartizan@reddit
Does Q technically count? He was on the crew for a brief period
Rogue_Danar@reddit
Who do you think caused the amnesia in the first place?
kingrat1@reddit
Well since the only thing he would do is ride Picard/Janeway like a rented mule (and get beaten like one by Sisko), he would count as bridge crew.
VuckoPartizan@reddit
Reluctant_Gamer_2700@reddit
I loved Worf’s answer: “Die.”
Shmav@reddit
Q's retort is equally good.
"Oh, very funny, Worf. Eat any good books lately?"
Ok-Preference-4433@reddit
"Please growl so that I know you recognise me."
JosiahBlessed@reddit
What are you talking about Morn never shuts up.
niquehorn@reddit
I forgot about that!
JosiahBlessed@reddit
One of the best running jokes in television history imho
cmpb@reddit
Morn does talk, we the viewers just never hear him
GMorPC@reddit
TOS: Kevin Riley would be my pick. XD
DanceMaster117@reddit
He does have a lovely singing voice
antifascist_banana@reddit
Garak, he's simply a good sophist
TheMannisApproves@reddit
You'd give command to a simple tailor?
Pyrkie@reddit
No, no you are mistaken he's just a simple ... er... chef?
antifascist_banana@reddit
Tailor!
Pyrkie@reddit
No, no I don't think he's a talior... although he is the only one not wearing pyjamas!
mickeynine9@reddit
Oo I like that. I love Garek
guitargoddess3@reddit
The actor who plays him narrates all the trek audiobooks.
ErstwhileAdranos@reddit
All of them?
guitargoddess3@reddit
All the ones I’ve come across at least. If there’s some that are narrated by someone else I’d actually be interested to know which ones because although I loved Garek, I’m a bit tired of the same narrator.
Gryphon1171@reddit
KhajiitPaw@reddit
I could hear this jpeg
LeadGem354@reddit
He could pull off the role easily, like the one time he used a password to scare off a Cardassian captain.
Throwaway_inSC_79@reddit
Do we really need a captain who runs things based on what he overheard while hemming pants?
Yes. Yes we do.
siameseoverlord@reddit
Mr. Broccoli
Mateo323@reddit
Naomi wildman! Because Ginger's for the win!
seantubridy@reddit
Harry Kim
Low-Woodpecker-5171@reddit
He’s a bridge officer tho
Mateo323@reddit
He never got above the rank of Ensign. I think we'll let it slide
NoClipHeavy@reddit
Ro Laren for sure. She'd take the bridge and my anal virginity at the same time
GalvestonDreaming@reddit
Now there's an episode worth watching.
Ok-Preference-4433@reddit
Geordi controls all the power and is the only one with that expensive looking decorative thingy.
Make him our KING !!
GalvestonDreaming@reddit
After watching him with the ladies, I'd have to mutiny
Quiet_Marketing6578@reddit
I grew up in the United States. So I've been conditioned to assume the old white man is in charge.
star_nerdy@reddit
Can I pick Harry Kim?
The one with the least pips is clearly the most important.
If I’m sticking with non-bridge crew, Mariner from Lower Decks. She don’t give a f- - -!
rockalyte@reddit
Admiral Cain! And if that first officer gave her any back talk she’d phaser him in the forehead with his own weapon.
Ultranerdgasm94@reddit
I feel like most of the captains would keep their seat, but I would assume Spock and T'Pol were both captains.
CordeCosumnes@reddit
My original answer was Garak, which I still stand by. But, then, I remembered Mr. Mot.
Tasty_Plantain5948@reddit
Oh, definitely Barkley because I’m a holideck fan myself.
TheEyeofNapoleon@reddit
The guy with four goddamn pips. Or did they address this in the ep?
kkkan2020@reddit (OP)
that's only if you're familiar with starfleet ranks if you all got amnesia and don't know what's what anymore than i guess that can be overlooked.
TheEyeofNapoleon@reddit
That just always annoyed me about this otherwise fun episode. It’s a great use of dramatic irony because WE know who the rat is from the get.
But if I had amnesia, yet still understood what starfleet was, I’d assume I’d know the uniforms. Like, if they know blue means science and medical, wouldn’t they remember the pips?
If I had amnesia, but was dressed as a chef, I’d assume I knew my way around a kitchen.
But I’m being a pedantic a-hole. If anyone, it’s probably O’Brien. But only after talking to him long enough to remember what kind of guy he is.
FightingBlaze77@reddit
This gentlemen, he's in the captain seat so he must be the captain.

theglobalnomad@reddit
You're a good captain and a pretty captain, sir!
SilveredFlame@reddit
I will feed him.
secondtaunting@reddit
Off topic this is one of my favorite episodes. The part after they get wiped and “Commander McDuff” is trying to look around nonchalantly like he got wiped too cracks me up.
JoeyJoeJoeJrShab@reddit
Here's the part that bugs me -- they (I forgot the race's name) lack the technology to launch a photo torpedo, but they the ability to disable Starfleet's flag ship, erase the crew's memories (including a variety of different species and even an android), and alter the crew data in the computer.
...... and, if you're willing to give that a pass, here's the big one: Why didn't they make MacDuff the captain?! (or Admiral, or whatever)
SilveredFlame@reddit
My headcanon... Political reasons.
If the Federation cripples the enemy military in what would effectively be seen as a tragic accident and McDuff disappears, there's no real way to prove it was by the other belligerent. Circumstantial evidence would be pretty damning, but the Federation involvement after would most likely be to act in a humanitarian aid role or potentially to meditate peace talks.
Sort of similar to the Cardassian/Bajoran situation. The Federation would feel obligated to provide aid but otherwise distance themselves from the conflict while giving the people they know, but can't prove, are responsible the stink eye, sanctions, etc.
secondtaunting@reddit
Good point. Make McDuff the Captain. It was pretty funny how it was.
Memento_Morrie@reddit
I love MacDuff. When they do the pan of the bridge, and MacDuff is just standing there, I said, "Wait, is that just some dude they threw in there as a mistake? Or are we supposed to realize that guy doesn't belong?"
Except he does belong...and he's a damn fine officer, too. Well, up to the part where he goes nuts, but I mean, everyone in Star Trek has gone nuts on the bridge at one time or another. For me, MacDuff gets a mulligan.
Also, think about how hard it is to act like you fit in on the Enterprise, to become part of the the inner circle. But MacDuff just fits--he knows the culture, he's conversant in the shibboleth, he knows the protocol. Shit, if I had to choose between Riker and Crazy MacDuff, I'd have a hard time choosing!
secondtaunting@reddit
That McDuff, he’s captain material. A fine officer right there.
APariahsPariah@reddit
This was actually the first episode of TNG I ever saw, so the twist at the end really threw me. It was great.
secondtaunting@reddit
That would be fun going in without knowing that.

Janeway. Always Janeway.

Admiral Cain.

Lower Decks! Lower Decks!
GeckoIsMellow@reddit
Mariner
playgamer94@reddit
For tng I would to ask Beverly crusher. But she's probably too busy trying to figure out what happened so O'brien is the only real choice. Ds9 we would forced to choose an actual civilian Rom while he becomes grand Nagus later is a great choice it's still much too late in the series to consider. So the best option is probably Odo. Voyager is obvious it's Harry Kim now while he is on the bridge the truth is he finally uses this moment in time to finally take charge of the ship getting the crew safely back home with his new Ensign Janeway.

DeadParallox@reddit
This one is going to be controversial, but hear me out...
Barclay!
Why? Well, the one time he didn't think about being socially awkward and anxious around people, he took over Enterprise and took it to planet of God like superbeings who gave enough knowledge it probably advanced humanity centuries.
Spectre_Mountain@reddit
Rom. He has that get-shit-done personality and gravitas.

WWPLD@reddit
Ro, she's just a natural take charge person. And I woupd follow her.
clonetrooper250@reddit
If I was on DS9, I'd probably assume Quark is in charge. He's charismatic enough to fake it, and even without his memory I have no doubt her personality would remain intact, he'd be as opportunistic as ever.
PatAD@reddit
I just watched that episode last night. Was pretty much another excuse for Riker to continue checking off the list of crew members he has had relations with.
The answer is Garak.
Wild-Lychee-3312@reddit
Why would you put a plain, simple tailor in charge?
PatAD@reddit
Clearly Garak has done will with messaging to you. That is all he is, a simple tailor. Nothing else.
ThrowAwayehay@reddit
Everything you've heard about him is true, especially the lies.
L1feguard51@reddit
Seven of nine.
sunkskunkstunk@reddit
Guinan would be a good choice. But if I can’t remember that Q is afraid of her I might not pick her.
kingrat1@reddit
I think they kind of scare each other.
ohkendruid@reddit
Ancient enemies, it seems like.
AnalystofSurgery@reddit
I suspect that the Q powers are based in some temporal timey whiney stuff and since el-aurians are resistant/immune to changes in time they might also have protection against Q's reality bending powers.
I might be misremembering but I wonder if being around an el-aurians diminishes a Q's power? Whenever guinan was around it seems like Q would be reduced to a nervous toddler whos afraid of getting a toy taken away instead of the ominpient supreme arrogance he normally displays around humans.
demalo@reddit
Why else would Guinean have gotten on the enterprise? She didn’t show up until after Enterprise’s second bout with Q. It was the second season, but yeah she didn’t show up until then as far as I know. Maybe she was drawn to the Enterprise because of Q? I need to do a rewatch anyway.
Nawnp@reddit
Non bridge on the Enterprise D would have to be Georgia Laforge.
If we're going anywhere in the franchise I'd go with Scotty.

rat4204@reddit
Definitely not me: What's Saint Francis have to do with this?
Anyway.. Probably Odo. (Assuming he retains humanoid form) He's unique and has that instinct to control a situation.
I was going to say Quark because of how he's dressed and he's instinctively opportunistic, but he's not 'crew'.

For a non-bridge officer, I would choose Hemmer, the Andorian engineer from the first season of Strange New Worlds (assuming that he was still alive, of course. RIP Hemmer).
