Finding friends age 20s to 30s

Hello! I recently moved back to the area a few months ago and I’m trying to find something to get involved in that will help me meet people my age. Ideally something weekly. I’m not a church goer, so I’m trying to find other ways to meet people. Also, Im trying not to spend a lot of money. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

There are board game MeetUps throughout DFW and they are free to attend.

Where do I find these?

Go to meetup.com or download the app and search for board games.
What kind of board games do you play?

Not into sports, unfortunately.

What about a not really sport like bocce ball? Bryan Street Tavern has bocce ball leagues. You just stand there and need on functioning arm, ha

Usually run clubs, workout classes. And there are some networking events that you can maybe join.
Best rule of thumb is join a group/hobby you enjoy doing and it should be fine!

I just googled for clubs and join them then?

Get the meetup app. I highly recommend going to clubs/groups that interest you. Make sure you keep showing up every session. I just moved here too and I found a good group of friends quickly going to board game nights.

Oh that is nice.

I’ve heard good things about Timeleft! There is alcohol and food involved. Also as others have said try joining a sport Leaugue. They cater to mostly young adults and have happy hours regularly. Pickleball is popular

In my experience, volunteering or otherwise associating with a cause is the best way to meet people, because you meet folks who are interesting and community focused. There aren’t many shitty people out here trying to make the world a better place.
Specifically, consider getting involved in the local urbanism community!
It’s a bunch of people focused on making Dallas a more vibrant, walkable, bikeable, affordable city with good public transit and all that. I’ve made lots of friends through these.
I’ll list them below, but you can also check out this list with explanations of what each of these is about.

Are there any other volunteering groups?
TakeATrainOrBusFFS@reddit
Yep! What causes are you interested in?
Last_Lettuce_4125@reddit
I am really not sure about that, I just wanted to spend my weekends meeting people and serve people

I’ve been going to the same workout class for 2 years at a local rec center. Over time I got to know all the people there. Sometimes we hang out. If you go to gym at the same time, or if you go to the same workout class, you’ll start to make friends.
